I would say Cristiano is deff the greatest ucl player and nobody comes close. He owns almost all records and is the highest goal scorer and assistor in the competition. The champions league also known as ucl is the biggest prize to be won in club football. The player with the most in history is Paco Gento with six and most of the real madrid squad lead with five such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, Luka modric, Kroos, Gareth Bale etc… It’s so impressive to achieve especially as a player for example Barcelona have five ucls in their entire history and the some of these people players have matched that. Some clubs like Atlético madrid, Arsenal and Psg don’t even have one in their whole history

CL is every year and only the best teams in all Euro competitions can play it. There is a groups stage and after that you have 3 rounds till the final. In those 3 rounds you get 3 opponents and you play them 1 match home and 1 match in the opponents stadium. So in this video, Madrid won 0-3 in Juventus and Juventus was winning 0-3 in Madrid. What means that it was equal (3-3) till the penalty in the end taken by CR7.

When you have a long career like CR7 did, you'll make some enemies. The one that stands out apart from the typical rivalry with Messi is Diego Simeone, the Atletico Madrid manager. The dude was always in close distance to success with his team, for only Ronaldo to be there time and time again to ruin their party. Different to Barca, they always go back and forth with Madrid especially in the La Liga ( Spanish League).
Juventus too have made Ronaldo their enemy during those time, though I believe the club and the whole Juve fans admitted defeat, stand up and applauded him when he scored the nasty bicycle kick. So Juve in their mind, if you can't beat him, make him join us and so he did. Though, he got so expensive to keep and the club is in trouble financially made them cut their losses. Hence, the "time is running out". To this day, Juve had to wait to win the UCL.
We can compare Messi & Ronaldo's accolades, one might say Ronaldo is jealous of Messi's Balon D'or record, but one record that Messi envy, will surely Ronaldo's 5 Champions League titles. Oh and to answer your question, yes champions league (UCL) is the biggest and the highest trophy a European team aspire to win. It even says in the name, only the champions in their respective country plays, well top 4 or 3 depends on which country you talking about
To conclude this long comment, we can say the era of Messi&Ronaldo dominance has come to an end, Messi managed to squeeze in a few more important trophy recently, but I can't see them both making a stellar comeback to the big stage in the future, eventhough both are still playing. Well its not easy to explain but they played two games One was in real stadium and another on Juventus stadium( its called two hands) what counts is the total goals on both hands, The team that scores more goals goes to The Next round, only in The final its only One game. This rule aplies only in The quarter finals and semi finals, first There 's a playoff with all The european teams, divided in groups of 4 teams and they face eatchother 2 Times, The top 2 teams from every group pass to The quarter finals( decided by points). The quarter finals and semi finals are not by points but by goals, again two games with The same team One home another away, who scores more goals away has advantage Over The other team. Resuming quarter finals and semi finals winners is resumed by the combining scores from both hands. Its a basic resume of how Champions league works, like i Said in another video that you reacted, Champions league is where all teams win more money for The clubs. So its very disputed.
