  • A user review of Piaggio Liberty 150cc scooter, purchashed new in the summer of 2022. At the time of the recording scooter had about 2.500 km and close to 3 months of use. I go through some good things and not so good things of the scooter, at least how I see it.
    If interested also check a trip I did with a 50cc scooter, a 1.200 km trip from Ljubljana (Slovenia) to Firenze (Italy) and back: • 50cc Scooter Motorcycl...

    Absolutely, 100%, I totally agree that Piaggio needs to add a audible clicking turn signal to the Liberty.. That is a huge thing that Piaggio needs to fix..

      It's a small thing, but having a big old cup of Soca right out of the river and a chilly Lasko later on was a highlight.. I guess there is a rail line that has been converted to multi use near Piran and I was hoping to rent a scooter and ride on that
      but we just out of time. But the roads and weather are so lovely and the drivers so chill why bother? If there is a next time I'd rather scoot than rent a car.

    I just came across your channel. It turns out you have the same scooter I do. I bought my 2022 in Vancouver, BC in August last year to ride around the city and make some small trips with it to Vancouver Island . I need to plan any trips carefully because it's all highways here on the coast. I wasn't as lucky as you though, at just 150kms the shop told me it needs a new engine. I brought it in because of a loud rattle at certain speeds. They checked the oil and found metal filings which means something is self destructing inside the engine. The new one just arrived and hopefully the exchange with the old one will happen in the next two weeks. It took four months for that engine to arrive here on the west coast of Canada. I love the power though and feel quite confident on it. Hopefully all issues will be solved and I can finally enjoy it this spring.
    I hope to see more travel episodes on your channel, it's very enjoyable to watch.

      I had a similar experience with a Honda 300, I swapped it with a Beverly 350 after only one year because the engine had funny noises in the head at around 90-100Km/h.
      And now I'm swapping the Beverly for a Medley 150, the Beverly is too heavy for me (195Kgs wet), it overheats and the engine stutters and fires especially in Summer and in the heavy traffic.

    I enjoyed your review of your 2022 Piaggio Liberty 150 Scooter. I bought the same scooter in 2019. However, I bought the S model in red. I too am very satisfied with my scooter. If I could change just one thing about my scooter, I would double the size of the fuel tank. Since I added a large (47 Liter Capacity) Givi Top Case (back case), this gives me enough storage room for my helmet, rain suit, gloves, goggles, tools, and documents. That would certainly free up the seat storage area for an additional 6 liters of fuel. Then, I could ride for about 300 miles between re-fueling stops. The very best to you!!

    I enjoyed your review and, of the negatives, particularly agree that the tiny front storage bin is simply not worth the complexity. It is easy and inexpensive to replace the halogen headlight with an LED. It is also easy and inexpensive to wire a “beeper” into the turn signals with two diodes. I’ve done this on both of my older Piaggio scooters, and even the Vespa did not have this obvious feature. Unfortunately, no motorcycle or scooter can be safely parked on grass. They will all fall over if rain softens the ground enough. You have to use a rock, board, or piece of metal to stabilize them.

    • @jamesconner3437
      @jamesconner3437 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you could provide the instructions link for diodes in the turn signals, we all would certainly try that. And yes, no scooter , center or side stand, is safe on wet ground.

    Very disappointing to me that Piaggio did not set up left/right blinker indicators in the speedo panel. So many years like this, and all the owners I know have this same complaint. And just how difficult could it be to include self-cancelling turns and a loud horn ??

    with the bigger wheels you are on the better way, espacially for traveling, and on bad ways with gravel aso. 200ccm would be the perfect way, ... enough speed, accelerate, and less fuel burnt....the way is the goal.... good choice!!!!! the price of the vespa is much to much overratet, ...maybe weld al small steelplate to the main-stand, stay healthy

    Side stand can be purchased. Surprised you did not complain about the glare-back from that fly screen! Perhaps you do not ride much at night? The glare in the rider's face is very annoying! Faco makes a much better fly screen - designed not to glare from the headlight.

    Just purchased a 2023 from Max Motorsports in Pelham, AL USA. Very suprised (and annoyed) it did not come with a sidestand. Every dismount is another chance to drop the bike. Called the dealer and scheduled an install which, with parts, estimated at $100 US.
    Second major issue for me is filling the gas tank. The fuel neck has a green plastic insert which is sized to just accomodate a gasoline pump nozzel and when the nozzel is inserted I cannot see the gasoline level while filling which inevitably leads to gasoline splashing out when the shutoff mechanism is not sufficiently responsive. Most nozzels in the US, at least, have very limited flow control (on or off). This problem has been very annoying, potentially dangerous and an environmental nightmare as gasoline always spills. Has anyone else had this problem and if so found a solution. I was going to ask the dealer if the green liner can be removed so I can at least view the fuel level as the tank fills. I can't be the only one having this problem.
    Otherwise satisfied with the bike... Thanks for you review as it was more informative than "dealer employee" reviews.

    Hi there !
    Thanks a lot for the video.
    I have a 125CC S white one and I followed your trip until Italy.
    Don't you notice the seat is too hard and your ass hurts on long trips? It happens to me.
    May be there's a tip. It has been bothering me for quite some time and I am wondering whether to reupholster the seat, which I don't know if that would be the solution.
    By the way. On modern bikes, at least here, the turns doesn't do sound anymore. It confused the deaf at intersections with traffic lights. Best bikes, like BWM, switch the turn off automatically after a while.
    Cheers from Spain.

      Hi, thanks for the comment. The seat works fine for me. My problem are legs (knee) but for other reasons.

    The Vespas are coffins on 2 wheels so just avoid them!
    The old models were OK because the engines had a very modest power and they were built for the durability, but the newer models are too powerful for this scooter with "small" wheels and NO front fork!
    The Liberty, the Medley, some Vespas and Aprilias share the same engine, first service at 1.000Kms then every 10.000Kms and that is a very strong selling point.
    I'm going to buy the Medley 150S which it's considered a premium scooter in its category.
    You won't ever feel 100% happy with a vehicles because like humans they are not perfect.
    You don't like some things on your Liberty and most of them are subjective issues like the middle stand on the grass, that is your fault not the scooter's negative point.
    Enjoy your Liberty as long as you want then swap it with a newer model maybe the Medley one because it's a huge improvement over your Liberty but its cost speaks aloud!

    • @MrDonkov
      @MrDonkov  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem with Medley and similar scooters.. for me is the fixed sitting position. I need to be able to move on the seat a bit, to extend the legs, etc... The stand on Liberty is problematic, on my previous 50cc scooter it was much better and more secure. But as you say, no model is perfect.
