Now I just changed my spark plug today on February 19, 2023, the vehicle had 174,000 plus miles on it. I saw AC Delco plugs when I took them out and I put in NGK Ruthenium HX in it and a set of Performance Ignition Coil. When I was tightening down the spark plug to spec, I heard a loud pop in one, so I removed the spark plug that my ratchet slipped on, and it turned out to be fine still. The porcelain was still intact, and the base still seated properly down in the hole. I hate using very worn-out old ratchet, but they still work. Installing the new ignition coil were very easy because all you have to do is slide the Coil inside the hole first and then plug it in at the same time before actually seating and tightening down any bolt. When I tightened down one of the coils it was so much harder to put the plug in and hear that click. "TIME WILL TELL IF I DID MY JOB RIGHT or WRONG" and hoping my Gas Mileage will go back to 17 or more on the freeway driving.

I started this video and I thought, what a strange dude, why would he go over everything so detailed than I remembered two very important things: A) Many people these days are NOT to mechanically inclined so with the price of things these days many people are trying to save a buck anywhere they can, and finally B) I looked under the hood of my 2011 Traverse and realized holy lugnuts batman, where's all the room at? How in the Hades did they even get that engine under that hood! LoL. Great job buddy!

My 09 Malibu 3.6 had a #3 misfire. Started as intermittent but got progressively worse. Swapped coils, changed plugs, injector, etc. but no change. No other codes. It finally got bad enough that it missed at idle with no load so I could isolate it to the coil connector. The wire harness was made so short on that coil that it was bent hard to the side with no slack at all. The power wire finally failed so replaced the connector assembly and works fine now (and passed smog). Never would have suspected a wiring problem! Hope this helps someone with a similar problem. Thank you for a very thorough tutorial!

best video i've seen on this. I am surprised we don't have to do a damn computer "re-learn" for these. It seems everything else needs it,..lol. I just did the dreaded timing rebuild,...ouch. I told my wife our 2010 traverse should last awhile now. Anybody trying to diagnose coil,....my car ran pretty good, no dash codes,...but every now and then, rarely actually,....it would kinda lurch. When we did the timing rebuild, they told me then my coil #2 was occasionally throwing something and they noticed during a test drive.

Merry Christmas to you too! I bought my parts from Advanced Auto Parts. They carry most of the OEM parts for vehicles. Between the spark plugs and ignition coils it was about $400. They had a deal where you get $100 off if you buy all six coils. I bought the coils first and waited to get my Perks Bucks. I got 3 $10 coupons. They had a 15% off code. I did three separate orders when I bought the spark plugs since I couldn’t use all three of the $10 coupons in one transaction. With the 15% off and the $30 coupons all six spark plugs came out to a little over $30. I never called to get an estimate from a shop, but I’m sure this job would have been at least $1000 in labor if not more. It took me about 2 hours taking my time. That’s taking breaks and eating lunch. The Traverse is running smooth and the engine light has not come back on.
Thanks again for the thorough video.

You should NOT need to gap AC Delco spark plugs. I compared the gap on my new plugs to the factory plugs I removed from the engine and the gap on the new plugs, out of the box, was identical to the gap on the factory plugs. Before you start messing around with the gap on the plugs compare the new plugs to the old ones -- the new ones will most likely be correctly pre-gapped. P.S. the gap on my factory plugs was far smaller than .043 inch.

When I use ALLDATA for Chevy factory service info and there is a gap specification ( I always check the gap everytime no matter what ) I check the new plugs prior to going in engine. As a professional auto repair tech you always check. 9 times out of 10 I always need to gap a brand new spark plug. Ty for your advice and god bless u.

What crazy is that 2011 was the last year of the Aluminum Intake Manifold and by mid 2012 the Intake Manifold are all made of plastic with a MAP Sensor added to the top. Plastic Manifold on these engine covers no coils at all beside the sixth cylinder, which is easily removable by taking out the Purge Valve Sensor. For this type of engine, I also looked up how the tighten sequence for each Intake Manifold bolt are done properly. Internet said back bolts are 5 - 2 - 4 and front bolts are 3 - 1 - 6.

I had that problem and the used dealer I bought it from said, it was one of my wheel bearings. These vehicles have a built in "MAGNETIC" speed sensor. So, if the magnet breaks on the wheel bearing, EVEN THOUGH WHEEL BEARING MAYBE FINE. The Magnet is a part of the wheel bearing itself.

This type of regular maintenance doesn't get done because they design it to where you have to take half the engine apart just to get to the coils and plugs. I'd say it's idiotic, but I think they do it on purpose so vehicles fail and they sell new ones or so their technicians can charge more hours and make the dealership more $.

Thanks for the clip dude but why did you goto the STEALER I mean the dealer for your plugs? I used to work for Cadillac GMC up here in Maine and I STILL have a friend whose over the parts dept.. they have to mark thise plugs up a bit to deliver them to them to a dealership as opposed to going to advanced auto or NAPA for the SAME EXACT plug. Just saying lol... maybe not much more than a dollar 50 each but yey

Hello Maine P., no sorry you are wrong bc at the time I was calling around looking for these plugs no auto parts store I called ( autozone, napa auto ) had them so I went to Chevy dealer for them and they were less expensive than most of the aftermarket options that were avail. from the auto parts stores I called. Additionally, these plugs need to last 80 to 100k so I wanted the genuine plug correct for this engine to go that distance, you feel me? Ty for your comment, watching my video and good luck wrenchin 👌
