Cyclone 5 especially the mk1 have been a problem, locking up and throwing people off their scooters, as you say mb are good, i run an af 5 speed with a casa layshaft, works really well. Af have a new 5 speed out which looks good, but in my engine build used a gt casing and ended plate really good,
Yep. I was willing to take the chance because I ran one in my ss240 without problems. I did hove er crash using a mk7 version wen it spat out its teeth and jammed. I have the latest version in my s2 and that's been fine. It's just a shame that the consumer is forced to become the test pilot 🙈
@@kickbackgarage The chap that I use also says that li150 gearboxes are a pain to fit and shim depends on the layshaft, not everyone can machine a layshaft, if you can brilliant, excellent video as always
Brilliant. I’m about to embark on one. Cyclone DLC like yours. The biggest problem I’ve had so far is that the new Casa Performance layshaft end is too big for the old bearing at the end plate which seems odd. Waiting for new bearing to be delivered.
@@kickbackgarage Received my new layshaft needle bearing and bearing case. Fit a treat with the Casa Performance Gearbox Endplate. The Cyclone 5 speed is in (with much help from your video. Next, the Powermaster Clutch!
When prepping an engine rebuild and greasing up the parts before fitting...Is there a type of grease or lubricant you suggest? Watching a few youtube videos and notice some use a MOLY EP grease which looks almost like a jelly compared to the Valvoline red high temp grease paste I've got hanging around...Any and all grease will just dissolve into the oil, right? Almost ready to start rebuild...just getting things prepped!
Grease is mainly just for the first period before the oil is effective. High temp grease is for the maghouse bearings. Top end I just use 2 stroke. For seals in the primary I use gear oil.
I have that same gearbox in my rt240 engine and it is awfully loud and rattles on idle until i pull the clutch in or ride it…let me know if yours does the same please.
Yes. It is loose and noisy! The newer full width cyclone5 pro doesn't do that but it make a vespa type whirr noise which is better than a rattle. Unfortunately this gearbox is already destroyed 🙈 more on that in a video coming out in a couple of weeks.
@@kickbackgarage my gp has just arrived by ship in southampton and im waiting for it to be delivered any day now…needs servicing and then on the dyno to setup the smartcarb28 its a ts1 with the casa piston and head 62/116 crank….looking forward to what it makes with the sip touring expansion chamber…i will post a video of it 😁 cant wait.
@@kickbackgarage ouch, no fun, no wonder your kid wasn't happy riding it. Having heat siezed quite a few times in my career, it's never a nice feeling no matter how the back wheel locks up under speed !
I agree 100%. I thought he was nit picking but it happened twice with me too. 5th gear both times. That's when I decided just to ride in fourth and then it was fine.
WELL DONE ROB , I MIGHT JUST GET A 5SPEED GEAR BOX , IN MY DREAMS, HA HA 😎👍🏻KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK SIR 👍🏻
Liked that very good Rob
Good vid Rob & nice bit of kit mate, looking foreward to some more. Was the "Malt" starting to take affect towards the end 😉😂👍

@@stevebgp200 Li150 boxes can sit taller than the layshaft. Gp200 box is a better standard option.
@@kickbackgarage to true, I know a couple of chaps that have been spat off and broken their collarbone, safe riding and keep up the good work.

It's always a good idea to swap out the bearing anyway. 😎

What are your thougts on the AF rayspeed vs the cyclone?
I have no Idea because I have never tried the AF. This is something I would like to do something about this winter if my economy says I can
What clutch do you use with your casa 5 speed gearbox
Lth
i assume this was pre-scooter run?
Yes sir. Before I had finished the s1

We have just bought a Sip expansion for the S1 😁
This is the gearbox that caused problems on the way to the rally ?
Yes. Locked the rear wheel in 5th.
