Thanks for this. Fujifilm should incorporate an override option or advisory for these scenarios. They could say "must switch to X mode" or "These settings will change to enable this function." That would be the easiest thing. Also, a search function for the menu would be a life-saver
They’ve been getting better about including some advisories for certain items in the menus in newer models, but it still leaves a lot of questions for other items :) I was just using a Canon R5 today and they have things like “this isn’t available with your settings” so that doesn’t help much either!
I had a problem where the FOCUS MODE setting had the CONTINUOUS AF setting grayed out, leaving only the MANUAL FOCUS and SINGLE AF as possible choices. I could not figure this out but you hinted that auto choices could be the cause. I found the problem was in the camera shooting setting menu for IS MODE. If this was set for SHOOTING ONLY or OFF, the problem persisted, but if it was set for CONTINUOUS the problem went away. Quite a relief to have discovered this. Thanks much.

I'm using an XT-3 and can't figure out why almost all of my autofocus settings are grayed out when I'm in movie mode. Both the camera and the (kit) lens are set for autofocus, not manual. And most importantly, if I go to photograph mode, the autofocus settings re-appear. So it's only in movie mode that this is a problem. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

This is my second time watching this video with hopes to find out why the flash function settings are suddenly greyed out on my x-t30II. Apparently, I couldn't locate the problem but with further search on an online forum, I discovered that the flash settings are only accessible when the camera is set to mechanical shutter. And that proves your point actually, because I had just changed the shutter type earlier.
I tried to use Yongnuo YN560 IV on my X-S20 but the flash settings, especially the commander settings are still greyed out. Any insight on this is greatly appreciated. I can use the YN560 IV on my X-T100 though. Thanks in advance.
I just watched a TH-cam video about D Range Priority but when I tried to change that on my X-S10 camera it, is greyed out. Also, the Dynamic Range was Auto but only 100% is available but the 200% and 400% are greyed out. I tried different modes on the dial like Manual Mode, Aperture Mode, etc but that doesn't change anything. I am using an XF33mm F1.4 R WR if that matters and even changing the white balance and ISO to auto or something else doesn't help. Any ideas?

The unavailable MF assist was driving me crazy, but I realized after a frustratingly long while that the physical toggle had accidentally switched to burst mode instead of single shot. MF assist is apparently not available in burst mode, and it doesn't seem to say anywhere that this is the case.

I'm happy that this video exists, but is by no means a comprehensive guide. One of my X-E3 bodies is stuck in a weird state and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it back to somewhere that I can understand what's going on. I cannot change film simulations from the "Q" menu, I cannot change image size or image quality, it's just such an insanely Byzantine collection of rules and counter-rules that I feel like doing a factory reset is the best idea. I really wonder why Fujifilm did not consider hiring a user interface designer on at least a part-time basis to participate in the design of this utter train wreck. Basically the user interface, the usability of the cameras, is insanely terrible.
I have another question for you😂 I have a xt30 ii and for some of the recipes on FujiXWeekly it has WB set on modes that I do not have for example the “nostalgia color recipe” has it set on 6700k but I don’t see that in my settings how do I set my WB to 6700k? At present on my XT-4 the custom-setting for Clarity is greyed out and thus unavailable. I noticed this when trying to set my custom film-simulations settings at the available C-1 to to C-7 positions. I wonder if this has to do with my camera-setting to save both Raw and Jpeg when saving to my camera. That would seem odd, since the FujiXWeekly Film-simulation recipes list the settings at many of the X-4 processor film-simulations. Film simulations are always for Jpeg's only so this seems odd.
It’s not because of RAW+JPG. Are you in a burst mode like CL or CH? Clarity won’t work in those modes because of the processing power it takes. That’s one reason it could be grayed out.
I connected to my computer via wifi and now my network settings are grayed out and I can't disconnect from wifi or go back to my SD card reader. I'm at a loss. Any ideas?
I used Fuji for years, but got so frustrated with the constant graying out that I went to Sony. I just bought the X100V and I'm reminded of what I went through. The Digital conv went off. Took me an hour of screaming to find out why. I'd accidentally set the sports finder to on. Photometry goes on and off as it feels like. Etc. This is fine when I'm home but when I was on a zodiac in the waters of Kamchatka and half the camera decided to stop working, not so good. Fuji has features that no other camera does, but I can't trust it to work when I need it. If it's an important shoot, I take a back-up brand. Very annoying to have to do this!
Sorry, I'm not familiar enough with the X-T100, and the manual isn't any help. I'd just make sure you're not in Panorama mode and not in Continuous burst mode, those are the only things I can think of.
@@PeltierPhoto I figured it out the day after I posted my question. Burst mode disables the eye detection, and any mode that's not single shot or burst greys out the RAW capabilities. Thanks for the response!
That could be from a number of reasons and I have no idea where to start without knowing which camera you’re using, which lens you’re using, and what your settings are. Try checking out my “changing aperture in Fujifilm cameras” video first.
I can't help you if you 1) can't provide any useful information like camera model and specifics of what you're seeing, 2) can't act civil, and 3) can't show any kind of appreciation for the fact that I'm taking time away from my day to help people fix their cameras.

cannot get TT685 flash to fire while Xpro transmitter is on fuji xt2 however flash and transmitter communicate

Were you using an expanded ISO? Those modes don’t work in the expanded ISO ranges, any ISO preceded by L or H.

Only Movie settings are available? Then you might be in the Movie Drive mode.

Is Auto Update on? There’s no need to save if Auto Update is enabled.

I don’t see the off option in IS mode can you help with this.
Are you by chance using an OIS lens with an OIS switch? That switch is used to turn it off instead of the menus.
any idea why function touch screen (swipe right or swipe left) would be off even when I set it?
And the Touch Screen Setting & Touch Functions are enabled in your Setup > Button Dial Setting > Touch Screen Setting menu?

That’s in your White Balance menu then you set it under the letter K option

For the XT5 with 18-55 kit lens... why is the IBIS/IOS settings grayed out?
Is the OIS switch on the lens set to On? That switch overrides the camera setting.

"S" as in Shutter Priority? I can't think of any reason it'd be grayed out then and not in P, A, or M modes.

Moving forward Fuji needs to redesign the menu system period.
Yeah, it's a lot better today than it was with the X-T1 generation, and way better than Sony's system, but certainly has some room for improvement.

Check that your Dynamic Range Priority setting is Off. Those won't be available if that setting isn't off.

Fucking EVERYTHING is greyed out. I’ve changed nothing. The camera is not in an adv. filter.
