The Arctic Cat Thundercat is the world's fastest production snowmobile, which they said will go 125 mph with 200, + hp, then the last snowmobile they said is 180 hp and will go 128 mph, which would make it faster than the Arctic Cat, so I don't get how they came to that conclusion!

My cousin cheered me up and let me ride his 2005 Polaris Fusion 700. Three years after I lost my mom to breast cancer, I am so grateful for his kindness. It was chipped out very fast; pull-start setup instead of electric starter was removed to reduce weight.

A police radar clocked my neighbor's Polaris 700cc at 127mph. In 1972 the 1000cc Boss Cat had a top speed of 127mph - fastest at the time! My 1990 Arctic Cat Wildcat 650 did 110mph! My guess is there are faster sleds than those highlighted.
As the owner of an 850 skidoo, I can say it's not even close to a turbo Yamacat on a lake. But add some twisty trail or bumps and the skidoo chassis and handling will leave the behemoths behind.
Well you are honest on part one but the second part is up to debate. All depends on the rider. I know a few that have flashed Sidewinders with the good shock packages and they are pretty tough to keep up to, very good riders with Snowcross backgrounds.

I think they just don't understand how numbers work. They did specifically say during the Yamacat portion that it was the fastest sled made, but for some reason they put it as number 2. Maybe an editing mistake?

if you got a sidewinder, and want a thundercat instead, chances are you already have a thundercat, just needa thunder wrap
Yamaha cluches are better but the track on all the new sleds slow you down
@@dickjohnson22dp in most cases I would say that’s true but there has been issues with these Yamaha clutches. I don’t think they are made where the previous versions were. The Cat clutching has over drive faces and they are geared higher hence the faster top speeds.
128 on the 850 Doo….yeh right, gotta be satire or these guys are smoking some nasty Vape. I’d say the Doo is slightly faster than the Poo 850. Neither 850 will hold a candle to either of the Yama/Cat turbo’s let alone Doo’s own turbo. I know, I have one. (Sidewinder) In fact a friends 850 Assault when we were both bone stock could jump my Winder off the line by a good 4 sled lengths but by 70-80 I not only reeled him in, I passed him like a 747. Now it’s flashed it’s not even worth wasting the gas.

Yamaha gives you a 21 Tooth Upper Sprocket in the chain case (I bumped mine up to a 22 Tooth bc I could, since they give you enough chain length to do it), and I believe (I could be wrong, it's been a while) that Arctic Cat comes with a 24 Tooth Sprocket.
Out of the two versions of the Yamacat, I know AC has the larger sprocket.

The old arctic cat 800 900 1000 triples were very fast even the mountain sleds.
I had a mountain max 700 years ago and was pretty fast but on a few occasions I rode my dads buddies thundercat 1000 and that thing was ridiculous to ride when i was 16 or so.
I still remember riding that thing like it was yesterday now more then 12 years later

Knob here. As far as top speed goes, much like sportbikes, little has changed since the mid 90's. My cousins sled was a factory 114 mph beast in 1995.

I did witness an 850 patriot walk away from a 850 e-tec but I didn't witness the 850 patriot walking away from the fuel pump like the 850 e-tec. Those 850 e-tec engines are so efficient and fast enough to give you a good thrill.
yea my buddies 600 polaris rmk could go 115k km an hour, my geared down canned 2008 tnt 500ss can only hit 95 98 sadly, super fun on trails ir medium snow tho
They are not as efficient as my 44mph 91JagDlx440LT low gear 😂 my buddy has to bring two 5 gallon cells with him to my one 5 gallon fuel cell I tow along in my logging sled on our long trips.

If I was going to use a sled for more work than play, I would be taking a serious look at a normally aspirated 4 stroke.
@@woodswalker1111 I do require the light 2strokes low-end for the fluffy stuff while pulling a sled load of wood. I went up 2 numbers on my pilot and main jet, and my cousin did my driven and pulley clutching to match my rejetting and lowering my gear ratio for heavy load pulling ie our trapping and logging trips.

My 2stroke has no battery also is not EFI, I do alot of camping in -40 weather 150 miles from home and I do appreciate the ease of maintenance of my older 90s reliable logging sled that is darn tough as nails which is actually my 1st Arctic Cat😁
My friends battery died on him and I had to tow his sled behind my load of spruce logs. Traveling to where I go with an EFI is not something I will ever do.🤔

YAMAHA ROCKS, I think it should be noted that Yamaha and Arctic Cat have gotten together and exchange suspension for motor and are working together to bring latest tech upgrades to both manufactuers. At least on some or several models. , unless things have changed again in another direction! Fast crazy, competitive world!

funny the rx1 wasnt there, ive seen 123mph on the rx1 and 121 on both my apex.
I had an 03 RX when they came out. I saw 132 on the dream-o-meter on a fire road with it and a short windshield... but can't trust that. I enjoyed the engine braking it had. Although the 2005 model they lightened the crank considerably and boy did it make a difference on initial throttle response. Sure it was heavy, but you could leave the throttle pinned for 20 miles, while the two strokers would have to get out of it for fear of burning their motors down. Not to mention, not having to get in line for 93 octane.. 87 was fine and no hell-a expensive 2 stroke oil. All that said.. loved the sound of my indy triple.. prior to that.

My stock 1998 zrt 800 goes 112 113 top speed. If i buy a new sled next one will be comfortable better riding for long distance. Cant go that speed all the time but how much do u need on a trail

Plenty of wrong infos. 2022 polaris switcback 850 never had a 925CC, ski doo MXZ 850 can t run 128mph stock, neigther stock snowmo can reach it.

But the Mach Z isn't made anymore. Doo dropped that sled years ago because they didn't sell and were a problem sled.

@@djr2749 I have a hunch skidoo will be the first to put turbos into their trail and crossover sleds. And polaris, Yamaha, and Arctic Cat will follow along a year or two later because they want to see how the market reacts to the introduction of factory turbos in trail and crossover sleds.
Imagine the heartache of the 4 stroke crowd if they ever get turbo 2 stroke tech figured out.

Just to set the record straight....fasterst sled is, T Cat, then Sidewinder, Then MXZ 850 Then Indy 850. they are the fastest, all other sleds are slower but that is usually because of track length or clutching / gearing. The MXZ X is faster top end, but the MXZ Xrs is faster accelerating. This has to do with Clutching and gearing....as I stated. Same motor and same chassis. this applies to all brands,
Find an old RX1. A few mods and clutching and hang or beat all of them that don’t have turbos. And when you do lose think about the difference in money spent.

Exactly, anyone with 1/2 a brain knows any crossover/powder/mountain sled is not meant for speed. Those old triples ride like shit and will beat you to pieces but they were fast compared to most sleds made today and nothing compares to the sound of them. I fixed up a smashed up 1999 Mach Z that I bought for $800 that will leave my 2016 Freeride in the dust, the freeride tops out around 140km/h (85mph) 146" track with 2.5" lugs and low gearing don't equal much speed.
The old Mach z 1000 two stroke should be on here I think it would cream theses sleds in the video even tho I do have one
My 99' xcr 800 does 125mph with 6500 miles and 250 lbs on it. No need to spend 17,000 to go fast.

Depends on conditions. They picked up speed as they kept packing the strip down with continuous runs. A lake with a bunch of fluffy snow isn’t good for too speed. You need glare ice or really icy/hard pack. In good conditions a new 850 129 will hit about 105-110 gps. A new sidewinder about 115-120

1998 tCat was the fastest stock, 1999 and up tcats had restricted air boxes and were slower.
