The GW9400 is the absolute winner here because it is completely self contained. No need for Bluetooth connectivity, nor GPS. Now the GPR-B1000 needs a mobile phone to function properly and if you are carrying a mobile phone, strictly speaking, you have no need of a watch because time, GPS position, maps, altimeter/baro sensor and compass are all integrated into the phone, together with any other apps you might want to load. That is before you even come to the cost where the GPR-B1000 costs the same as a full featured mobile phone.
Replaced my 11 year Casio Pathfinder with the GW-9400. Casio watches represent the best watch value in the market, and the GW-9400 is the best value in the Casio line. As Ms. Jones says in the video, It really is the "Professional's watch."
For toughness and survival i think range 9400 is better to have because of its battery longevity,simplicity specially when u are trekking in the wilderness

I've gone through mud, dust, water and impacts with my run of the mill dw6900 during my 2 years of conscription (ish) training. I really never understand what a "mud resistance" really is on my gw-9400. But I would take the positive displays anytime during an adventure. Really never found any need for a smart function rather than a compass and maybe barometer/altimeter to predict weather. Even then I'd rather use my analog compass for map reading. So, a GW 9400 will be my choice for my adventure watch.

GW9400 is my go to watch, if you are like me wanting to stay off the grid and still have accurate readings the 9400 is the best choice. Now before all the covid bullshit you could get the GPS watch for around $600.00 but good luck now as they're now pushing $1200.00 for it and honestly it's not worth it. I see many many used GPS watches on ebay.

I am not interested in "upgrading" to the gpr 1000 simply because all the additional functions (and more) can be obtained via a normal GPS smartphone and the right applications...

Why, where and how? Nowhere, anywhere, never.
How is it a "true survival instrument" if it needs to be charged every 2 days? At least the 9400 has a compass that will last for decades, so if you have maps and stay ahead of the zombies you should be good to go
@@terryaustin7140 without GPS, the GPR lasts forever. I've had this for 3 years and have charged it maybe 5 times and that's just because I sometimes use the GPS as well
You can strap a real compass to the watch you know.

On the g shock website, it says out of stock on the rangemen, will they be back in stock eventually ? I heard they were supposedly getting discontinued, im rlly trying to get this watch 🙁😭😭😭
2 features I love and you didn't mention on both watches:
Hourly signal and auto light.
i like the font of the numbers on the 1000...if they put it on the 9400, it would be a no brainer for me....thats why I got a 100...no bells and whistles like these but I like the look of the face numbers
I had the rangeman. it was good all around. the only thing cheap was the strap which went brittle and snapped out of my wrist after 2 years of use.
@Sir Kyushu The carbon fibre band is only available in Japan. Not impossible 5 years ago when I got mine but it's going to cost more than US$300. I think I paid US$500 for mine.

I've been looking at your videos, and they're very good, but noticed you don't physically review the watches, just pictures with voiceover... will you likely be doing hands on, or is your channel just going to be as it is? I feel having hands on really shows more details as the information that comes with the G-Shocks don't cover all possibilities.

On 2013 I've involved in tragic accident which I manage to broke my right leg (shin) couple of years later I bought my self the gw🐈, then the mudmaster gwg imerged which I love the analogue style yet again I broke my femur bone on the same leg & now in the year where the 2econd🐱 appear I just involved in another motorcycle accident last month this time I have broken up my left leg also at the tibia & fibula part, so do I need this new rangeman or should I go on without ever thinking that I could be lost in the woods without a GPS navigation watch....... 😅

I bougt Gpr b1000 on the İnternet but before the seller sent it, I cancelled because too big to use daily
the 1000 is better but its very large to the point where it doesnt make a good everyday watch but the 9400 can be used that way a bit more easily

The altimeter on the 9400 is a barometric altimeter and, as for any barometric altimeter, it has to be calibrated everytime you use it because it is dependent on air pressure and meteo... I don't know what type of altimeter is included in the gpr1000.
Hey, I just got a twin sensor mudmaster and for future i am looking for something that is really classy looking maybe from G-shock or from some other good brand under 150$ and it would be really good if it has some real good features and maybe an activity tracker would be good. What would you recommend? Good vid btw.

Much prefer the gw9400 .....if the GPR-B1000 had a positive display it would be a complete all rounder but i think the GW9400 now has super cult status too over the GPR-1000 and just looks so much better...Shame they didnt make the GW9400 time display slightly bigger (PERSONAL Issue AGE & BLINDNESS lol) but for me the gw9400 is way cheaper and does virtually the same ....and comseticilly just looks inline with G-shocks retro look that weve all grown up with...I just do not get the negative display saga i have a few ga2100s that are all negative n just un readable....Although i do like the look of the GBD200 as it has much bigger display yet negative displayed again... Maybe just me and my age n blindness ....

i do not understand the utility of this series of videos. Many sentences, like the "bold watch that is not for the faint of heart" stuff, are a straight copy-paste of Casio's marketing material. This is basically a lady reading the specs accessible to everyone at Casio websites. No tests or user experience added. Useless for me.

You dont have to connect the GPRB to a phone to use the vast majority of its functions, i only do it for rout planning then I disconnect the app.
Same with any gps watch really.
You could use the compass and gps locations to navigate alone without the app connected

Just slightly more than a new Apple Watch, it won't be obsolete in a couple of years, has a much longer battery life, and will endure much more abuse. And as far as quality watches go in general, it's on the less expensive side.

If you would actually use the gps etc on the GPRB go for that but if you wont id say its not worth the extra money.

any 'connected with smartphone' watch will die as soon its hardware version is obsolete to the level the watch not compatible anymore for connection with smartphones with far newer hardware.

I am glad that you have made this video, I can comment since I bought those two models as the mudmaster gwg 1000; I tell you what I think; the worst clock of the three without a doubt is the rangeman gpr b1000, I heard what I say, even though it is the most advanced in technology, that would be the best of the three without any place, I say it is the worst Because of how the watch is made, the resin box that contains the watch's hardware knocks down the reputation of this watch. Do not buy this watch because the manufacturing quality is a pity. I tell you my case: once I bought the watch, I proceeded to remove the bezel, unscrewing the 4 screws of the zaphiro glass, and removing with extreme difficulty the lateral fasteners, I say everything for the one that was in connection with the crown, since I split it by inserting it when placing the support again. The screws of the support are a mess they spoil easily. The worst thing is that, and then it was impossible to fix the 4 upper screws that plugged the zaphiro glass because how the kind of slot through which the screws were fixed from the beginning was made of resin, had been degasted thus preventing me from closing the glass; Well that's what happened to me and being a handyman with watches. the rangeman gpr b1000 is a clock crap,

For the simple reason of wanting to remove the bezel of resin from the clock, that plastic bezel that breaks after the passage of time, I wanted to leave the clock literally naked, which I did with all the other geshocks that by the way I did not have any problem, only with this Gpr b1000 watch, if I knew it, I would not have bought it, I'll say again that the bad thing about this watch is that resin casing, especially how the gear holes through which they are inserted are manufactured the upper screws, if you press the screws you will use that surface not being able to fit or close the sapphire cover, which you can not submerge the watch in water; This is what spoils the clock, I say that it is not worth disbursing € 800 for the clock. who designed the design of the resin shell, especially those holes is a "fool". Do not buy the watch, you will regret it
