Rangeman is by far the best one here... I've had one for almost 8 months and leaving it under a sunny spot for a few minutes everyday, I never had to charge it completely. The solar charging is very efficient. Besides, my experience with Suunto wasn't so great. The Suunto Core Black is very popular among military personal (specially with jungle operations officers), but the strap cracks easily and it's very hard to find and replace it. The Rangeman has carbon fibers on the strap, and one of the coolest features (that is usually overloocked) is the steel buckle (that is a perfect shield against sharp rocks when you are rappeling down), it really protects you wrist. I just bought a B1000 Rangeman and after using the GPS for a bit I had a question.... does anyone know how long it would actually take if I depleted the battery to charge the Rangeman from essentially 0 to 100% solely on solar i.e. its on my wrist and I go outside in the sun for like 1-2 hours a day otherwise office scenario? I guess what i'm asking is if I took this out for a trip and I used the GPS until i couldn't use GPS anymore at that point would solar charging be a gimmick or could I actually go back to using GPS in a "reasonable" amount of time? Also does anyone know if the Rangeman can display when it's solar charging? I know it can when it's wirelessly charged but I can't find any indication that the panel is doing anything charging related to the watch.
I have the rangeman gw9400. Best watch I've ever had. I'm making the jump to a "smarter" watch. I ordered the Suunto traverse alpha. Simply due to the price. I got it new for $220 on Amazon. Until the price comes down on the rangeman it's a no brainier for the average consumer in the market.
Any one know why my gpr b100 i wire charge it to 4 bars then it goes down to 3 bars (it will stay here for a while) then when i go into the sun it goes down to 2bars then back to 3 when I go back into shade? This is just normal use no gps aswell

Yes in means of function because they have the same module. But the reason why they have different model numbers is because of the different versions of colors.

TIMEX WS4 WITH CASIO G SHOCK TRIPLE SENSOR
For me the Suunto has it hands down, it’s better looking, has more intuitive features and doesn’t look like a power ranger strapped to your wrist BUT, here’s the Kicker, the BATTERY LIFE. So therefore I would have to go Casio. Just for mear practicality reasons as I fail to see how you can have anything calling itself a n outdoors tool which you may really need to rely on it for it to possibly have as little as 10 hours battery life. Also in very cold weather that can reduce your battery life even further. I know you can set it so it just pings out once a minute or whatever but on steep hilly terrain that might not be up to good enough. Saying that, Casio isn’t that great for precision positioning but at least you get a lot more battery to usefulness to help you get out of the most treacherous part which is normally the first 24 hours. So even though the Suunto looks way better I would take the G Shock all day long. Suunto you guys need to get you’re thinking caps on as if you solved this one problem you would dominate the market and being ex uk 🇬🇧 Forces and a project Manager im your man 🤝

Suunito Traverse Alpha is a way better watch I have both and think you haven't really researched suunito watch properly G-Shock has nothing over the Sunnito. G Shock is definitely a very nice watch though but come on let's get real here the Suunito eats Casio and spits it out because of the quality build on the Suunito is way better and most importantly its gps is faster and more accurate. Great style you have in your reviews though.

Genesis, I love my Rangeman, what I do hate though....is all of my damn G-shocks, because I can only wear one at a time!!! LOL!! (Well I used to wear two watches at the same time, but the joke got kinda stale/old that I was a "two-timer")....

Traverse can also do running and cycling fitness tracking and it's less than $400. I'm a hunter...people hunter, and I like the low level red backlight and the flashlight mode for it's tactical aspects.

I agree, I have owned a Suunto Traverse Alpha Stealth for 2 years now. It has full navigation (you can upload your own or other people's routes to the watch, and you have breadcrumb navigation so you can retrace your steps if you still get lost) which the Rangerman doesn't have, and even though the Suunto probably isn't as tough as the G-shock it's still a milspec watch. Solar recharging would be a nice feature though.
i'm more concern about the watch function. g-shock is still new in outdoor watch like this. alternatively if you want outdoor watch in par or better then suunto traverse alpha, you can consider Casio Pro Trek WSD F-20 smart watch.

In your reviews you hit all the key points of conversation. For a all out survival watch the rangeman is hard to beat with it being a ABC watch ,with a thermometer, sapphire crystal, GPS, 200 meters water resistant, toughness against mud,shock,dirt,and with solar charging capabilities it just takes the rangeman to another level !!!
