However this message finds you today, I hope you can take a loving inhale in… And follow your breath out, As you remember, It’s a process. Give thanks and praise for all that you are and all that you have. What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful for having been led to Yoga with Adriene. the stretching comes and goes and feels the same wherever you practice, but, this kindred spirit of hers seems to be a cure for chronic pain that ails me...
I used to have chronic pain for years due to anxiety, but with consistent daily practice with you for the past 3 years, I can honestly say it has left me. I am thankful for myself for showing up everyday and for you, Adriene, Benji, and the YWA community💝 Big lovin’ INHALE, long, slow, EXHAAALLLE🌬
Adriene you ALWAYS know what I need!! getting ready to try out the video cuz I'm having some really bad lower back pain 😪 much love and appreciation ❤️🙏🦌
I have scoliosis and have struggled with chronic pain since my teens. I'm 28 now. And knowing that I will probably be in pain for the rest of my life is overwhelming/maddening/infuriating. I am in pain every day, every minute of that day. Even if the level is just a 2 or 3, it's still ever present. It feels hopeless and exhausting most of the time. I say all this to let anyone reading know it's okay to not be okay. To rage against your body. To feel betrayed by it. To just want give up. You're not weak. You're not whiny. Chronic pain is rough as hell. You deserve wonderful things. Keep trying. Yoga has lessened my pain some but mostly it has helped me reconnect to this body and be a bit more forgiving with its failings. I'm glad you exist, random wonderful human reading this comment. You are more then your body and the pain it brings. Best of luck♥️
Thank you for sharing this, it made me cry. Ive been strugglinig with pain on almost every part of my body for a year now. And I dont know what to do. We went to doctors used creams but nothing really works. Im at the last year of highschool and I have to take an exam but bc of the pain I feel like it is not possible for me to sit and study. So I told myself that I can heal and take the exam next year. I couldnt study this whole year, and bc of the virus I just stayed at home and didnt go to school either. And the year almost ended, tjerr is just 2 months left to exam and I m not sure if this pain will ever stop. Ive been doing nothing all day, just sitting laying on bed. And this doesnt help at all. I know I have to do something but I dont know what to do. Even my hands are in pain, my legs my arms. Not to mention my neck or back. I dont know what to do. What can I do. Im sorry english is not my first language, so at this point Im just writing whatever. Will this video help, I hope it helps. Dpctor sd it is bc of stress and scoliosis, but I cant take treatment right now. And I was never good at being positive, I think I just always had a bad mindset an was not good to my body. So its only fair if my body is giving up on me..
Im crying reading this, both because of my pain and the relief I got reading your post. To be ok not being ok. It’s so exhausting to be in constant pain. Thank you @meowlock.
Thanks for sharing this. I've struggled with severe PTSD going on 4 years. It got so bad I had to stop driving. Luckily, I have a support system to lean on. Yoga has greatly lessened m psychological pain, and it has been severe. But it is lessening over time now, and I am overcoming the trauma. On that positive note, I'm getting my teeth cleaned next month! I had to put a lot of things off because of daily and hourly panic attacks. Those attacks can last all day, but they come and go now instead of lasting for hours. Even if I have a bad moment or day I feel that I will be okay. Namaste.
hi! i have severe chronic knee pain (in my left knee) and also cannot stand up for long due to a neurological condition that causes weakness and muscle spasms in both legs. i do this yoga every night, you are so strong and i wish you all the best too!
This video has pulled me out of a weeks long fibromyalgia flare up. I've been doing it almost every day for 2 weeks straight. Thank you so much for everything you give of yourself, Adriene. Your community loves you and needs you.
I absolutely love how careful she is with this video. No promises of curing anyone, and she makes it clear to adjust as needed. This is what people with chronic pain need
It sure is. I use this routine on days when I have a Fibromyalgia flare-up and it always lessens the symptoms. Every.Single.Time. The mental relief I get knowing that there is a tool out there I can tap into is, well, priceless.
@siriuslyconfused1 I had the same reaction and emotions as you. Ans Adrienne thank you for helping us not in body but in mind and kindness. You get it. Thank you. So hard to explain to others just what it's like everyday to live with pain with no help from medical professionals.
Being 20 (21 next month) and living with chronic pain is... not easy. It can be hard to acknowledge what I'm going through and take time for myself when I spend my days trying to keep up with my friends and peers who are running around, healthy. Ignoring it doesn't make it go away but addressing it makes me feel weak. Your yoga practices give me time to sit down with myself and tell myself it's okay to be the way I am, and that it's important to slow down and look after myself. And the great thing is that when I do that, I get relief from my pain and my life gets easier. Your videos are a reminder for me that taking time for myself will improve my health and my quality of life. Even if doesn't cure the pain completely, it makes it better. Thank you for all you do, reminding us that we're all important, and no one is alone. You are a light in the lives of so many.
Nourish Day 9: I'm here today following the YWA calendar. I don't feel chronic pain today, but a few weeks ago I was experiencing severe lower back pain, and at that time I took a break from the YWA calendar to instead follow the YWA yoga for back pain videos. I did not know about this video, but now I do! Hopefully I won't NEED this video any time soon, but it's good to know it's there, just in case. I like the way Adriene recommends use of a chair as a modification. That suggestion would have been helpful for me when my back was hurting. Grateful my back feels back to normal. I wish all of you who are following this video a full and speedy recovery.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m currently dealing with some severe lower back pain myself that came out of nowhere. I’m taking it easy but looking forward to the pain being gone. One day at a time! Namaste Joanne 🙏
Likewise, Joanne…I did her Yoga for Lower Back Pain video, too, this week when I was having a twingey back, and it was very relieving. So nice to find a kind way to help the body feel better. Hope you are doing better, too.
Story time: this is the first time I have cried during yoga. Currently I am dealing with an undiagnosed reproductive disorder (as in, the doctors are inconclusive on my exact diagnosis at this time). And the past few days have been some of the worst pain days I've ever had in my life, almost fainting at work and spending most of my night with a heating pad just to feel okay enough to be awake. Today has not been much better and I've been consistent with Yoga with Adriene's yoga calendar almost everyday for a month and a half...except for yesterday. This made me feel very weak, as I had become so much stronger in my daily practice and to feel like I couldn't do basic movements made me very scared. Seeing this video in my subscription box...I was wary. I sat on my mat to begin and got through most things pretty well until we started stretching our sides while standing and then...the tears just flooded. Not because of pain, but because I realized that I didn't need to go full force to be able to do the practice. I wasn't able to stay in the downward dog for long, but I focused on breathing through the moments. It became working with my body to see how I can improve my day IN THIS MOMENT. Not everyday is an advanced posture day, some days you just need to breathe and I think today I was finally able to see that.
Sorry to hear your pain, I've had similar symptoms in the past and found out that I have Endometriosis - it might be worth looking into, as my pain was so bad that I was nauseous, sick and so fuzzy headed particularly during my time of the month. Hope this helps xx
I am with @@louiseneale6637. I also had similar symptoms and finally got diagnosed with Endometriosis after many years of struggling. I hope you find relief from your pain and a doctor that will help. I know it can seem hopeless at times but keep at it. You deserve to feel well.
I am just beginning with yoga & started with Adrienne’s gentle yoga for beginners. I found this program & saw your post about Chronic pain. I though I’d share my experience (in the hope it’ll help others). I was severely injured in a motorcycle accident 37 years ago & developed something called “RSD” (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) now referred to as CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome). It’s been a real challenge dealing with this over the years with pain medication, multiple internal stim device implants to my spinal cord. I even under went Ketamine therapy when the pain medication I was taking for many years suddenly stopped working. All of this while working & raising a family. First, if it wasn’t for my wonderful wife, I’m not sure I’d have been able to do all of this. She too is a big proponent of yoga (she’s taught yoga & meditation for more than 25-30 years) as well as practicing a responsible nutritious diet (which she has been telling me to investigate for years). I want to share my experience when I finally listened. I first reduced my sugar intake by 90%. I began a gluten-free anti inflammatory diet, reduced soy intake by 95%, no pork, no beef (only fish & poultry) & no dairy. For 2 years (and counting) I’ve reduced my daily nerve pain by >75%. I’ve just recently eliminated poultry & reduced fish by 50% and have seen even more improvement. Overall, beside a huge reduction in pain, I lost about 35 lbs and have more energy. This might not be for everyone but for me it’s worked.
Hey Britney I noticed your comment and had to reply! I was diagnosed with endometriosis 5 years ago and since then I have found so much help over at Flo Loving (it's a website) who has tons of resources for pain. When I discovered Alisa's work I started working with the 4 seasons of my cycle and that led me to activating my calling, studying menstruality and creating a business around it! Perhaps this will help you too! Much love xo
I cried too, as soon as I started. I think a lot of my pain was from chronic stress and anxiety. I felt infinitely better afterwards. You're an angel Adriene
This sequence has to be the slowest, gentlest practice ever, suited to many abilities especially suffering painful conditions. It is one to return to for some comfort, you’re always there for us Adriene 🙏☺️🧘🏼♀️🧘🏻♀️💕
What a treat. Legs up the wall on a Tuesday morning! Good luck to everyone in chronic pain. I’ve been there but no longer I’m pleased to say. Yoga has helped me so much. 🙏
Fibromyalgia squad where you at? Haha, thank you Adriene! Your videos help me deal with my chronic pain every single day. Dont know where I'd be without this wonderful practice 💜
So grateful. I cried so many times during this. "Let something go", "you're doing great" and the mention that other people don't understand was so healing and gentle. It was so kind and made me feel like I wasn't a failure, as I have done many times trying to practise. Thank you 💖
YES YES YES!!! Daily practice since January has made me so HAPPY and HEALTHY!!! It's the BEST thing that has happened in 2020 (besides the announcement that I am going to be a Grammy!!!!) Namaste!!!!
Much love to anyone struggling with their health! Especially those who suffer in silence. In the past few months I've been dealing with chronic bladder pain. I begin physical therapy this week and hopefully am on a journey to finding my own healing alongside medications. Thank you so much Adriene for this video and the reminder of all the ways my body is capable!
hey, thank you Adrienne for acknowledging people with chronic pain. At then end of 2020 I luckily found your TH-cam channel. I´m 17 years old and struggle with chronic pain since 4 years. No one could diagnose me with anything. And I come from a culture where mental health smh. doesn´t have any kind of relevance. My pain comes from traumas and stress. I never knew that was possible, but last year I changed my perspective. Still no one in my family believes that I could have any pain as the doctors didn´t find anything. That really makes me feel lonely. I just hope that anyone with chronic pain who reads this know, that we are in this together. Let´s just appreciate ppl. like Adriene for showing us these beautiful practises. I pray that you all can change your circumstances, which help you relieve your pain. I found yoga, work-out, get acupuncture and go to therapy. Sometimes mental issued can harm your body as well. It´s enough if you acknowledge it. You are love and enough. Stay strong! Lots of love from me❤✌
Good morning from Germany to everyone out there 🤗 Am starting my daily YWA practice now, feeling connected to everyone who is also starting the video right now or who is doing it today according to November‘s schedule 🤗💛 lots of love and have a good day
showed this to my mom, she has been living with chronic pain almost her entire life with chronic lyme disease and fibromyalgia. she really liked the practice today!
I have chronic pain & Lyme Disease, as well. Give your mom my love! Does she watch TH-cam? My channel is for people who live with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, etc. It's all about being alive & finding joy (without coming out & saying that). I just like keeping it pleasant.
yea, finally. thanks Adrienne Heres my favourite TIP CP peeps: I got a large sized heating pad for dogs ( because it doesn't get too overly hot) and put it under your yoga mat.
I suffer with chronic pain, daily. Your yoga workout has truly helped me so far. And makes it easier to function. And when you say in the video you got our back it means more than you know!!
Thank you so much! I am 23 and have a hip injury from my time in the military and have been so discouraging trying to stay active because I feel weak. Your message of kindness brought me to tears multiple times and made me feel so accepted. I was medically discharged and went through YEARS of doctors and my peers downplaying my pain. Thank you for giving me permission to be gentle with myself.
hello alex, i'm sorry to hear about that - i too have suffered for years - i'm grateful to adriene and others who share so much wonderful things to help. if you, or anyone is open to it, there is an amazing book by dr john sarno called 'healing back pain', simply reading it relieved much of my pain from years. there are some fascinating things in this book and hope you could make time to check it out sending love to all dealing with pain, it's controlled my life for too long
Paul C hi paul, thank you so much. i’ve dabbled a bit in sarno’s work and it’s so fascinating. looking forward to listening to the audiobook 😊. sending love and healing to all dealing with this crazy illness as well 💛
Migraine pain and lower back sufferer. Can't thank you enough Adriene. The sound of your voice is so healing! Have been using your videos for 3 months straight and have not missed a day! xoxox
Was such an emotional release for me, I spent the majority of the practice releasing those pent up emotions through tears; which meant modifying nearly the entire video to just sit. and. breathe. Thank you ❤️
Oh, thank you thank you! Some yoga channels don't seem to understand that no, I can't balance on one leg and no, I can't go up and down and up and down. The message of self-grace is welcome too. ❤️❤️❤️
Honor, day 2. Still wasn't sure if I should or wanted to do yoga, but gave it a try anyways. I fortunately don't suffer from physical chronic pain but mentally, there is a lot of stuff tzat needs to be healed. Thank you for this practice and a great day to everyone! You all are amazing, keep going 😊
I have been a dog groomer for the last 20 years, it has really taken a toll on my body. I cannot begin to express how much all of your yoga videos have helped me. I am about to graduate as a nurse and I have had no time at all to go to a class. Being able to see this videos online and practice along with you has been a pleasure! Thank you for all that you do and provide for us!
I just have to say, as a fellow yoga guide, I always ALWAYS recommend your channel to my students! You always give such spot on cues, and throw in some humor. Also, my almost 1 year old daughter gets SO EXCITED everytime I roll out my mat and turn on your videos. Thank you for all you do! 🙏
Adriene dear, I don't think I have ever thanked you, and Benji, for all you have done for me. Six months ago I could barely move... I saw one of your videos with this lovely dog and thought "Ok, I think I can try this" (Yes... Benji was a GREAT motivator!!) and I give you my word, no more surgeries, no more pain! You are a light in my days dear. Wish you all the best!!
Gracias Adriene! What are great video to get me back on my mat after dealing with chronic pain and barely able to move. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and love. 💖
This is an excellent practice for cold and flu season! I have a head cold and yesterday I substituted with Yoga for When You're Sick. I was glad to see a gentle practice on the calendar for today so I didn't have to think of another substitute.
for anyone who feels like they can’t do this, just go through half the video and it’s always okay to modify and take breaks. i’m on day 2 of honor and i felt like a failure for almost missing this session, but like what adriene said you find what feels good for YOU. it’s okay if you finish 5 minutes, or 10, or even just stay for the breath. you’re doing amazing!
I love you so much. I have fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis and I watch your videos all the time to help relieve and deal with the pain and stiffness. I was so excited to see this video thank you SOOOO MUCHHH
I cant wait to do this! After a back injury and 1 month of rest, I finally did a yoga practice (Dec 2020, day1) a few mins ago. I still need to observe if I can do this tomorrow.
For back pain and injury I really recommend Dr Melissa West Restorative Yoga for Lower Back here on YT, she is very knowledgeable and gentle with pain and injury, really helped my chronic back pain. Hope you heal soon Tina!
This might be my favorite practice. I have a tbi and deal with chronic headaches and tension and other pain problems and it always makes me feel better. The way Adriene talks and guides us through this one makes me not hate my body so much for being in pain all the time 😊
I just want to say thank you, Adriene. I have been watching your videos since I was 16 and I am 23 now and you are the reason my practice has developed to begin with. Thank you for keeping making these videos and being the best. ❤
Thank you so much for this practice, I have an undiagnosed neurological disease and I'm in pain all day, I have trouble walking and doing just my daily life. I felt so assured during this practice, and I let myself be flexible with my body's capacities without judging it. Just doing what felt right, you're a great teacher! I'll definitely keep doing this :)
agreed! ,,,, i have severe chronic knee pain (in my left knee) and also cannot stand up for long due to FND which causes weakness and muscle spasms in both legs and i do this yoga every night
You're an angel. Chronic pain feels like it takes over my life, as I can barely leave the house most days. Your videos help ground me and appreciate life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you ❤️💯
Back to practicing in the morning after meditation. Feels really nice to start off the day. I have allowed some mornings to get away from me, by needing to sleep longer or by doing other things instead. Then I would have had to either get a daily sequence in quickly before afternoon work or in the evening after I returned. Much more fulfulling to start off the day with practice and still have the option of additional time in the evening. Nourish day 9. 401 days in a row.
To whomever liked this comment a couple hours ago, I appreciate it. The Move calendar is over, and I finally got to sleep earlier last night. I had been thinking since waking that it would be nice to return to morning practice. So thanks! 💜🙏 It was like a message of encouragement!
As always the perfect flow. Chronic pain is a biggie. Thank you so much for showing the modifications in the chair, so helpful for ALL ages. Peace and blessings to all beings!
Enjoyed the slow pace of this practice, so so gentle! As I was holding my legs against the wall, I was like "wow, I've got such pretty legs!" Who knew?! Again, I bow to you and your infinite love to the human kind(ness)!
thank you, adriene. your gentle, kind instructions and constant, constant reminders of doing what feels good, listening to your body, doing the easier variation when needed, is what i need to exercise when i'm in pain. i feel so grateful to have a safe and judgement-free space to move my body.
Thank you Adrienne, I am 81years young and have had several spinal surgeries. I pray I can do this daily. I was amazed at how hard it was to get on the floor. I did yoga when I was younger and raised a family, it allowed me to handle stress.
I had been away for a while, not coming to my daily practice and would have missed again, and I’m so GRATEFUL that your heartily letter rescued me, Adriene. Love to all, FWFG together. Thank you for guiding us through this wonderful path 😊🙏❤️🌟
We forgot to shut the window last night, I woke up acheing all over from the cold. Looked at my yoga calendar and was relieved to see the lesson for today. Just about able to go to work now thank uuuu xxcc
Such a lovely practice. I'm a physio who works with a lot of people experiencing chronic pain and this is such an important part of coping, taking an active approach and moving with compassion. Thanks a million!
Honor Day 2! Day 60 of return to YWA! This was nice. I loved the reminder to do legs up the wall. That had been missing from my daily practice. I even managed a happy baby on the way down. That was fun! Thank you Adriene! 💜
Thank-you @YogaWithAdriene - this video was amazing! The recognition and acknowledgement of the pain and challenges, the gentleness, the slower pace... it is just what I need right now.
It’s practices like this that drive home how versatile and beautiful the practice of at home yoga truly is ☺️ thank you Adriene. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! ❤️❤️❤️
Doing amazing, thank you for this video. At first I was a little confused when the screen split but then I realized you were modeling chair yoga for those who are disabled / in too much pain & cannot practice yoga in these difficult positions that we hold sometimes, like warrior. It immediately made me cry. I am so thankful to have found someone like you online who is teaching me to calm my mind and body for yoga. I am so grateful that you are now modeling other version / chair yoga simultaneously for those who are disabled. My husband is disabled and unable to do a lot of the more difficult poses due to the pain it causes him. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything that you do. Practicing with your videos daily for the last 3 months has quite literally changed my life. I am calmer, my anxiety is under control, I give myself grace, I love myself & others more deeply. Yoga has truly changed my life & it wouldn't have been possible without your awesome videos & amazing attitude.
My chronic pain had me at breaking point this week, I came home from work Wednesday and did one of your videos, it is only Friday and I have done one every evening since, and feel so much better already, my neck and shoulder pain has become more manageable and mentally I feel stronger xxx thank you xxx
Thank you Adriene from the bottom of my heart. I already loved this practice but wasn't thinking about today. I'm in pain since several days. Wanted a sweet and kind practice to help me, went on your channel, was curious about the practice of the day and life, as always, seemed to be as it should be : yoga for chronic pain 🙏🏻 The universe has my back and so do you Adriene. Thanx a lot from a French girl suffering with a chronic disease, practicing with you since years and quite everyday for 1 year and a half now. Love, Namasté 🙏🏻 Priscilla
I love the extra consideration you took with the chair for those with chronic pain. Thank you for what you do! I had a serious bout of mono and extreme fatigue this last year and your videos have helped me love and listen to what my body needs as I increase strength and mobility again!
Day 2 of honor and I almost didn’t make time for my yoga because I’m in the middle of moving and didn’t have my mat etc... to my surprise she says you can do this on the edge of your couch 🥺 so happy I honored myself today! 🤍 thankful for you Adriene!
Oddly enough my employer gave me my new shoes yesterday and this morning I cannot stand on my left foot! Oh the agony! The pain of having a foot and using it on the ground to move! Thank you for one, precisely on time in my life🧘🏻♀️
Worked out in the garden today, dead-heading flowers, throwing mulch - kind of back-aching work. Being 62 and in decent shape, I didn't realize how different 2 hours of yard work is from an hour of moderate yoga practice. So today's Chronic Pain practice came in really handy! Love this one. Will definitely bookmark it for a regular 'go-to'. Thank you once again dear Adriene AND Benji of course. You rock! Namaste :-)
I practiced this today to tell my self that everything is going to be ok and Im ok despite the feelings I am having now.. it was my first time to cry during practicing yoga as I felt Im not alone.. Thanks Adriene.. Im grateful 🌸
You are not alone and everything is going to be ok. I once read that everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end. Remember this 💞
I do not have chronic pain but a very sensitive back and today was a pain day. Thank you very much for helping healing my body and also my soul. A big hug for Benji
Second Day of Honor and I have intermittent pain and I my body is already feeling the benefits of this practice. Mentally I feel more relaxed and less stressed. Looking forward to tomorrow's practice ☺️
Im writing this comment during the practice to say this - this one is one of the hardest - FOR MY MONKEY MIND My gosh I'm all over the place. Namaste! 🙏
Hi Adriene. I just want to thank you for being here. I have been practicing yoga for 5+ years on and off, but it actually started with you. In 2015 I was following your thirty day series and today, as I recognized I needed to revisit yoga again for PTSD and mental health, I thought of you. I suggest Yoga With Adrien to anyone I know apprehensive or new to yoga, because that’s how I was in 2015 and following your practice changed my life. Thank you 🙏🏽 😊
Bless you for this video! I am a teen with severe MPS, and a lot of people just tell me to just push through the pain which j find harder and harder to do. I used to be a big athlete before my symptoms started showing, and I really hate living in pain. This is seriously like a light in my life. Thank you
I used to do these videos consecutively for 2 years. Ended up quitting as life got busy. But found my way back doing them again. Now my boyfriend hears these videos in the room with me and he'll sing back to whatever you're saying or say the goofy things you say back in a funny way and I find myself giggling on the mat. He's also talking about doing one of these videos with me! He loves your energy. So fun. And so excited that I've been back to doing these! You're awesome, Adrienne!
This is a great video for days when I feel like I can't even handle doing yoga. I can handle this. It is all about gentle acceptance and simply caring for the self. Yoga has always been there for me, thanks to some great teachers over the course of my life. The teachers that really speak to one are worth looking for!
Starting my yoga journey again after not doing it much the last two years. Thank you for this one! I always come back to it when I’m struggling with pain.
Today is the first day in two weeks that I've been able to do any yoga due to sciatica. This practice is absolutely perfect! Thanks so much Adriene, for seeming to always know what we need and for creating content that is inclusive of all of us despite limitations or ability. You are a blessing!
I am very grateful for this video. I have chronic back and neck pain, as well as arthritis in my hands and neck. Your voice is so soothing! I love your videos!
Had a nasty slip and fall last week-- smacked head and tailbone. This thoughtful and compassionate practice was exactly what I needed to start toget back on my feet. Almost feeling human today. Thank you, Adriene!
I walk every day but sometimes I have so much pain that I have to slow down that’s when I always come into your videos and I am reminded why I need to do them every day. I think you are the single reason that my pain goes away so know that your videos are my cure. Blessings to you Adriene
11/09/2021 - Thank you for today’s practice Adriene. It has been about 2-3 months that I’ve been off of my yoga mat, but I’m glad that I’m coming back to it.
I don't have chronic pain and have never dealt with chronic pain, but I've recently had terrible nerve pain in my lower body. This offered relief (that and ibuprofen). The gentle warrior and the legs on the wall gave me immense relief. Thank you. It would also be amazing if you made your videos more disabled people-friendly, like this one. You visually showed what the variations would look like on the screen next to the "normal" postures. There was a lot of thought and care put into this specific video, so thank you again.
Hai adriene I am sridhar 24 year old, I have abnormal heart beat from childhood its always above 95 to 100 then nearly last 9 months regularly doing ur yoga videos, now my heart rate comes to around 75, yes I think this change is only because of you so thank 🙏💕 u soo much for ur wonderful✨😍 contribution in my life🙏🙏🙏
Juliette Hilton, just because 90-100 is the top limit of “normal” doesn’t mean it is necessarily a good, healthy resting HR. Though in the “normal” range, a higher resting heart rate could be a sign of an increased risk of cardiac risk in some situations, as the more beats your heart has to take eventually takes a toll on its overall function. In fact, research has found that a resting heart rate near the top of the 60 to 100 range can increase your risk for cardiovascular disease and even early death. While a heart rate is considered normal if the rate is between 60 and 100 beats per minute, most healthy relaxed adults have a resting heart rate below 90 beats per minute. Your resting heart rate, when considered in the context of other markers, such as blood pressure and cholesterol, can help identify potential health problems as well as gauge your current heart health. For example, one study that tracked the cardiovascular health of about 3,000 men for 16 years found that a high resting heart rate was linked with lower physical fitness and higher blood pressure, body weight, and levels of circulating blood fats. The researchers also discovered that the higher a person’s resting heart rate, the greater the risk of premature death. Specifically, an RHR between 81 and 90 doubled the chance of death, while a RHR higher than 90 tripled it. I know I’m throwing out a bunch of facts. But I’m also speaking from personal experience of having a high end of “normal” RHR for basically my whole life. Then eventually graduating to high blood pressure. Which I have since been able to bring down both my resting HR & BP naturally, through exercise.
The time to check your heart rate is first thing in the morning before moving if possible. It might take a bit of practice to get in the habit of checking your HR but when you first wake up, don't move around, gently check your HR and record it. When I was in college running marathons my wake-up resting HR was 40. Keeping track of this value can help tell you that you are overtraining if the value is higher than normal for multiple days along with the symptoms of overtraining. For me, it was an indicator that I was getting sick with a virus, my HR would be up and the next day or so cold symptoms would appear. For someone who always has a resting heart rate of 95-100 and brings it down consistently to 75 that is excellent. Ranges are simply that, ranges for all types of people and sometimes it doesn't matter what the value is but what it does over time. Pichamutha M started HR 95-100 and after 9 months of regular yoga practice with Adriene it has been steady at 75, this shows improvement for them, quite a bit of improvement imo.
Perfect! We had a snow storm yesterday and my entire body is sore from shoveling 💀❄ I usually push myself but it's so nice to have that reminder to slow down when necessary.
I randomly started doing yoga because I thought it might help with any type of headache I'm going through (we're not sure if those are mini strokes, cluster headaches, a simple migraine, brain tumor or anything alike) and I am so thankful I did. I feel so much better already and your routines help me feel better and feel accepted. So glad I tried it out. Thank you Adriene, greetings from Adrianna. :)
Hello just interested in your comment, my mom suffered with migraines really bad, she would pass out and at times it would mimic a stroke, after a few hospital trips they discovered it was a rare form of migraine called hemiplegic migraine. I’m not sure if you have found out what yours is but I just thought I’d share the name in case you as still searching. Hope you’re well.
ILYSM Adriene 💕 I started watching your videos four years ago and they helped me so much with my health. When life gets hard I always can let out all the pain physically and emotionally through these loving practices you share 💕 Sending you , Benji, your loved ones, your team, your supporters all the love, health, happiness and peace 🥰😘💕
It's exam season here in Australia for us uni students and just as I pull away from sitting at my desk all day for some yoga I see this video got released just 30min ago 😍 Adriene you are my guardian angel getting me through med school 🙏
This was amazing as I wanted to do something really gentle for my body on this day when I feel my pain flaired up immensely. Thank you for your loving validations, I felt so seen!
However this message finds you today, I hope you can take a loving inhale in…
And follow your breath out,
As you remember, It’s a process.
I am thankful for myself for showing up everyday and for you, Adriene, Benji, and the YWA community💝
Big lovin’ INHALE, long, slow, EXHAAALLLE🌬
Adriene you ALWAYS know what I need!! getting ready to try out the video cuz I'm having some really bad lower back pain 😪 much love and appreciation ❤️🙏🦌
Answer: Adriene, this yoga community, the ability bodies (and hearts) have to heal and for opportunities to share that.
For Jesus rescuing me from despair and sadness!!! Thank You my God! Love your sweetness Adriene. Thank you for your awesome stretches. Appreciate you.
Sending love out there to anyone who may be struggling with chronic pain. 🙏🏻
Right back to you too. Namaste 😊
Thank you
LOVE TO YOU AND NAMASTE.
Hey thanks bro! ♡
@@Averylovellmusic Of course! Stay strong, man!
Thank you! Your message is very inspirational. Blessings to your good health.
I feel you. I'm in a flare up right now. Will be gentle on myself and keep moving. The tendency is to be still, but slight movement is important.
I absolutely love how careful she is with this video. No promises of curing anyone, and she makes it clear to adjust as needed. This is what people with chronic pain need
yes! couldn't agree more
Honestly teared up with every validating statement, as someone with chronic pain, this is way more than a yoga routine.
Me too!
I feel this so so much as a young adult. It's so hard to acknowledge but u realise u have to acknowledge it to get better.
Not everyday is an advanced posture day, some days you just need to breathe and I think today I was finally able to see that.
sending you love
Fibromyalgia warrior. More of these or specifically for fibromyalgia suffers would be so welcomed and appreciated. Give a boop to Benji
Yes pls
I cried too, as soon as I started. I think a lot of my pain was from chronic stress and anxiety. I felt infinitely better afterwards. You're an angel Adriene
Have you overcome the pain?
More of these would be great! An all over joint pain/rheumatoid arthritis video would be amazing :)
Yes please!
Definitely!
That would be great #rawarrior
Ooh yum
Yes please!
🙋♀️
With you!! Hang in there!
So grateful. I cried so many times during this. "Let something go", "you're doing great" and the mention that other people don't understand was so healing and gentle. It was so kind and made me feel like I wasn't a failure, as I have done many times trying to practise. Thank you 💖
Just hearing the sound of your voice makes me relax.
YES YES YES!!! Daily practice since January has made me so HAPPY and HEALTHY!!! It's the BEST thing that has happened in 2020 (besides the announcement that I am going to be a Grammy!!!!) Namaste!!!!
Same💚 Not a Grammy yet, but here's hoping☺️
Congrats!
Much love to anyone struggling with their health! Especially those who suffer in silence. In the past few months I've been dealing with chronic bladder pain. I begin physical therapy this week and hopefully am on a journey to finding my own healing alongside medications. Thank you so much Adriene for this video and the reminder of all the ways my body is capable!
hey,
thank you Adrienne for acknowledging people with chronic pain.
Lots of love from me❤✌
HONOR peeps! I’ve been with y’all everyday since Oct 5th of this year and it feels amazing to stay this consistent with something healthy!
Good morning from Germany to everyone out there 🤗 Am starting my daily YWA practice now, feeling connected to everyone who is also starting the video right now or who is doing it today according to November‘s schedule 🤗💛 lots of love and have a good day
💕🙏😊
Adriene, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me turn my life around.
showed this to my mom, she has been living with chronic pain almost her entire life with chronic lyme disease and fibromyalgia. she really liked the practice today!
I have chronic pain & Lyme Disease, as well. Give your mom my love! Does she watch TH-cam? My channel is for people who live with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, etc. It's all about being alive & finding joy (without coming out & saying that). I just like keeping it pleasant.
Thanks! Was diagnosed with Shingles yesterday and this really helped.
yea, finally. thanks Adrienne
Heres my favourite TIP CP peeps: I got a large sized heating pad for dogs ( because it doesn't get too overly hot) and put it under your yoga mat.
.......you might be some kind of genius
Yum
I suffer with chronic pain, daily. Your yoga workout has truly helped me so far. And makes it easier to function. And when you say in the video you got our back it means more than you know!!
Thank you so much! I am 23 and have a hip injury from my time in the military and have been so discouraging trying to stay active because I feel weak. Your message of kindness brought me to tears multiple times and made me feel so accepted. I was medically discharged and went through YEARS of doctors and my peers downplaying my pain. Thank you for giving me permission to be gentle with myself.
This really helps me calm down when my overuse injuries are flaring up like crazy. Thank you so much for what you do! 💜
i clicked this so fast. i’ve been struggling with chronic pain for about a year and can’t wait to try this. thank you adriene for all you do 💗
hello alex, i'm sorry to hear about that - i too have suffered for years - i'm grateful to adriene and others who share so much wonderful things to help.
if you, or anyone is open to it, there is an amazing book by dr john sarno called 'healing back pain', simply reading it relieved much of my pain from years. there are some fascinating things in this book and hope you could make time to check it out
sending love to all dealing with pain, it's controlled my life for too long
Paul C hi paul, thank you so much. i’ve dabbled a bit in sarno’s work and it’s so fascinating. looking forward to listening to the audiobook 😊. sending love and healing to all dealing with this crazy illness as well 💛
Migraine pain and lower back sufferer.
Love reading all the comments from everyone doing the Honor practice with me. :) See you all tomorrow.
Thanks!
for anyone who feels like they can’t do this, just go through half the video and it’s always okay to modify and take breaks. i’m on day 2 of honor and i felt like a failure for almost missing this session, but like what adriene said you find what feels good for YOU. it’s okay if you finish 5 minutes, or 10, or even just stay for the breath. you’re doing amazing!
I'm so thankful for good health and the opportunity to keep my body in good shape! Thank you Adriene xx Namaste 💟💟
I love you so much. I have fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis and I watch your videos all the time to help relieve and deal with the pain and stiffness. I was so excited to see this video thank you SOOOO MUCHHH
Love you, Lisa. Namaste. xx
What other videos do you recommend as I have rheumatoid arthritis as well and find it hard
MY GIRL. I have fibromyalgia and I do yoga with your videos every morning and I appreciate this so much. Lots of love to you!
Agreed on melissa west. Her restorative yoga helps me sooooo much. I never knew it was what ive been missing all these years!
This might be my favorite practice. I have a tbi and deal with chronic headaches and tension and other pain problems and it always makes me feel better. The way Adriene talks and guides us through this one makes me not hate my body so much for being in pain all the time 😊
I love the emphasis on "Honour where you are today"!!
NOURISH day 9
DAY 2 - done! Thanks for this beautiful day! I appreciate each breath while I'm doing yoga! ❤️
Please do more of these types of practices! Chronic pain is real and hard to deal with all day everyday! Thank you for this session!
When you forget what day it is and your YWA notification feels like Christmas 😂 This looks like such a relaxing practice. Thank you ❤️
I am genuinely so full of gratitude for being alive at the same time as you
I’ve really been internally stressed for the last couple of days or so and this video has calmed my nervous system down so much! Thank you Adriene!
Again, I bow to you and your infinite love to the human kind(ness)!
cool words, Nice profile you got, how are you doing today?
cool words, Nice profile you got, how are you doing today?
thank you, adriene. your gentle, kind instructions and constant, constant reminders of doing what feels good, listening to your body, doing the easier variation when needed, is what i need to exercise when i'm in pain. i feel so grateful to have a safe and judgement-free space to move my body.
Thank you for guiding us through this wonderful path
😊🙏❤️🌟
Yes! Namaste, Jess. x
Yoga With Adriene 🙏
Rebekah, I send you a hug! I know how you feel. I got chronic fatigue syndrome after mono, so I can relate to you very much! Take care!
Right, i bet that chair insert helped a lot of people
Check into epstein barr and how you can manage. My mono among other viruses trigger fibromyalgia, Epstein Barr and cfs.
Day 2 of honor and I almost didn’t make time for my yoga because I’m in the middle of moving and didn’t have my mat etc... to my surprise she says you can do this on the edge of your couch 🥺 so happy I honored myself today! 🤍 thankful for you Adriene!
I am thankful for the ability to practice Yoga. I am especially thankful for finding this practice. Thank you Miss Adriene! 😊
I did this practice outdoors and im just glad to look through things in a different perspective!
Remember this 💞
@@loublou5886 yes you are right.. Its not the end.. Thanks for your kind words and support
@@NeeNHassan 💜
I do not have chronic pain but a very sensitive back and today was a pain day. Thank you very much for helping healing my body and also my soul. A big hug for Benji
I know it’s been too long when the opening of the video brings tears to my eyes. Much love.
Second Day of Honor and I have intermittent pain and I my body is already feeling the benefits of this practice. Mentally I feel more relaxed and less stressed. Looking forward to tomorrow's practice ☺️
Im writing this comment during the practice to say this - this one is one of the hardest - FOR MY MONKEY MIND
My gosh I'm all over the place.
Namaste! 🙏
I always skipped the legs up the wall part before and didn't this time and it completely takes away any pain. Thank you :)
Today is the first day in two weeks that I've been able to do any yoga due to sciatica. This practice is absolutely perfect! Thanks so much Adriene, for seeming to always know what we need and for creating content that is inclusive of all of us despite limitations or ability. You are a blessing!
wow!! i have chronic pain and this gives me hope. what a beautiful practice thank you so much
I am very grateful for this video.
Hai adriene
I am sridhar 24 year old, I have abnormal heart beat from childhood its always above 95 to 100 then nearly last 9 months regularly doing ur yoga videos, now my heart rate comes to around 75, yes I think this change is only because of you so thank 🙏💕 u soo much for ur wonderful✨😍 contribution in my life🙏🙏🙏
pichamuthu M that is an average heartbeat unless you are crazy athletic.
@@juliettehilton438 my heartbeat is 60. That heartbeat is a bit high.
greenfairy nena the normal resting heart beat for someone over 10 is between 60-100. So yours is actually on the lower side.
