Removing the beard like that is called the Tooluck pull (not sure how it’s spelled) and it proves you a viltrumite because you’re strong enough to rip off the beard but also not bleed
They never really needed mark to kill anyone, they were just pointing out that conquering the planet himself would likely kill fewer people than if they had to send a squad of their own to do it (which would also include him among the dead). And if he was really concerned about them, it's in his and the planets best interest to capitulate and accept their fate.
(At 43:15) Komodo Dragon's muscles are too thick. Shrinking Rae's getting crushed from the inside. Also in the comics, this _was_ how "he" died (on the show, they decide to gender swap his character).
On Thaedus removing his beard, that specific move actually has an official name and some speculation on how it works (barely a spoiler ahead): It is called the Toolock Pull, and there is no official explanation on why it represents that a person is a Viltrumite, other than the mustache just being so synonymous with Viltrumites. However, I have a headcannon answer that the Toolok pull proves you are a Viltrumite because it shows you are so much stronger than you are durable. Among their own species, Viltrumites are all glass cannons, much better at dealing damage than taking it. This is why they can so easily punch through each other, and is also why they can so effortlessly pull out their beards in one swift motion (no human could do either and it may be the same for all other species). Of course, when compared to other species, Viltrumites are extremely durable.
It would’ve been funny if he actually removed the human skin, revealing to him as Optimus prime because you know both characters are played by the same actor peter Cullen

I have always felt that if you have the power to make copies of yourself, not only should you never, ever put your main self in danger, but you should learn as many ways to fight and generally help as you can. If Kate had been armed with those huge guns all those GDA agents carry, she could have wiped out most of the lizards as soon as Rex finished with his awesome one liner, and everybody then could have teamed up to take the big guy down. But you know, hindsight.
The problem with the guns is she doesn't multiply weapons or gear. Her clothing seems to be the only exception. As for your final thoughts, I suppose the difference in Mark's upbringing could show them that Viltrumite strength doesn't need to come from Viltrumite culture. That someone who was not raised to see physically weaker species as inferior can still possess great strength. That one does not need to be cruel or to kill indiscriminately just because one has the abilitiy. They didn't seem to care that Mark is half-human, only that he survived a battle with their own, so their power, endurance, flying etc., their total ability - or maybe rather "survivability" - seems to be the only quality they value. If they can learn that one can be that strong without having to kill half their population. maybe they could end their "Imperial Expansion". Btw, Nolan mentions in ep1-8 that by the time he was born, Viltrum was already the greatest empire in their galaxy, after telling Mark about "removing the weak from our society", implying the "removing" happened before he was born. I do believe the culture causing it would still have been prevalent throughout his life though.
