Enjoyed seeing how you put a video together and what have been your expenses for a month in Oaxaca, Mexico. That was quite a show at the wrestling match. Those tacos looked real good too!
Thanks for sharing. I’m Mexican American living in USA. Probably you live in one the best cities in México. Wowxaca state is full of traditions, delicious food and beautiful people.
I'm considering moving to Mexico when I retire (roughly 8 years). Like most, my 401k has been taking a beating, and I started it way late (I was on disability), so it's not going to be a great help. Seeing your expenses is really helpful for me. When I do it, I'll be by myself, but I'll also rent an apartment or, if my savings hold out, buy a small place. I love to cook, so I likely will only need a little for eating out (although I absolutely will sometimes). Do you run into U.S. or Canadian expat communities much?
Mexico is a great choice for retirement! I think the gated communities are where it starts to get expensive. We didn't tap into any expat communities here, but I know there are a lot in Oaxaca. A place where we found a lot of Expats was in San Miguel de Allende. Might be worth checking out - though more expensive there because of it.
@@EricandSarah That's my assumption, that any area with any size of an expat community will be more expensive. I haven't yet decided how close I want to be to one. Maybe very close, maybe far away. I'm quite an introvert and not sure how much community I'll want. Thanks for responding so quickly!
I am also a foreigner and I have been here in Mexico for many years but I am sorry to disappoint you, the taxes here are not cheap at all and even less so to open a store. I have so far had 3 stores that open and close due to the high costs. I think it is time to think about another strategy
Look into Huatulco. Less expensive but an up and coming community with great beaches and food. Infrastructure is more modern as well with drinkable tap water, etc.
Great laid back video, my favorite part of the video is the digital nomad part, very honest conversations and also liked the blooper, need more bloopers at the end :-) headin over to the newsletter signup now... P.S: some places cost was in USD and some were $, I assume everything is USD?
My wife and I relocated to Morelia, Michoacan three years ago. She's a Mexican citizen, and I'm from Reno, Nevada..it's been absolutely wonderful! As far as the cost of living goes, we rnt a beautiful, nearly 4000 square ft home, in a very nice neighborhood for 8000 pesos ($400 USD) per month! Everything is affordable, the culture is amazing, and the people are welcoming. We live VERY well on my Social Security alone! The best move I've ever made. We've never seen a need for a car, everything is within walking distance. UBER suffices when needed. I had surgery for a brain aneurysm while in Mexico, and the medical care was outstanding, the doctors were great, and the hospital was modern. We've never been victimized by ANY crime. It happens in every large in the world, but it hasn't happened to us. Good video, you can get used to the life!
I don't know how you can find such deals - maybe because your wife is a citizen? We are in Riviera Maya and a furnished apt with 2b 2b with just 700 sq ft is 14000 pesos in a nice privada. Can't find anything less on FB marketplace, and Vivanuncios or Imuebles24 is even higher prices (no 2b 2b under 16k pesos). Our rent went from 700 usd to 900 usd just because of conversion rates... wish we could pay 8000 for even a small apartment. We also walked around, called "se renta" signs and still nothing lower than 14k pesos...
$200/ groceries? I know it varies, I assume you buy some meat? We easily do about 4x / month in FLA. And we pay about $150/mon for spring water delivery. No drinking from tap in US.
yeah we live in cancun and can't go under $500 usd in groceries plus around 200 usd in coffeeshops, plus like $30 for potable water deliveries... so $700-800 total... we don't eat much meat but good peanut butter, cashews, walnuts, honey, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil - these are 3 times the price in Mexico...

You two are living the life I want!! 😊 Just found this channel and was happy to know you’re Canadian!! Could you provide Canadian conversions too? That would be so great!!!
Apart from the increase in views and followers, it would be very nice if they put subtitles in Spanish since not all of us who watch their videos speak English. Greetings
Nice video as usual. You pay a premium for short term lodging. It would bbe great if you could give us an idea of long term costs. Wish I was there eating chicken mole.
Yes that’s definitely true! Short term is always a lot more expensive. We met a girl living in La Reforma and paying $450/month for a place if that helps. Not sure if that’s average or not though :)

We are going to a place you two have been, your video showed us all the fun that lies, before us! Love ❤️ from Canada. Well done!
So basically you would spend 25k a year in expenses for two people in Mexico, that is insane! I seriously doubt that the locals would spend half or a third that
I didn't know you spoke that much Spanish! Thanks for recommending Safety Wing. I'm going back to the US for the first time since moving to Mexico. It would be nice to have, just in case! As we know, nobody is recovering financially after a medical emergency in the US.

I really enjoy your videos when you talk about long term stays. Your videos about 1 month in country X is very useful content for other digital nomads. I wish you would do more of these! Also those who work remotely abroad are always searching for accommodation with good internet and overall cities with good electricity supply 😀. It would be super helpful if you could mention accommodation you are staying at (and would recommend to others). Or maybe its possible to find this info somewhere already? Thanks and take care!
I am sorry to tell you that the electricity supply is not like in Europe, I am a foreigner who has lived here in Mexico for many years and in fact it is the complete opposite of what one might think, there are many disconnections without prior notice and the flow is not continuous sometimes until wind storms that could knock out the electricity is something you have to anticipate with a firewall, battery or other power options
Im glad that you are enjoying my country as much as im enjoying yours. Just here is more expensive. Suggestion: if you want to explore something else about food, ask the locas what they suggest, you'll be surprised of the variety and the tastes.
Great video and very informative, thank you! I just subscribed to your channel. Is there a typo in your list at the end of the video for Accommodations? I am thinking it is missing a digit? Although, I would move to Oaxaca today if I could spend only $141.72/month for rent. 😉
