I'm still a little puzzled, Jordan. Your place sounds exceptional. Why do you want to move? I know you're in a new relationship. Is it mostly to adjust your financial situation?? Take good care, my friend. I always love your presentations. (I just wish I wasn't so old - 71 now - otherwise I'd move to Mexico.)

Born and raised in California. My heritage is Mexican. I have visited Mexico 4 times and I enjoy the hospitality, great prices, and very delicious food. I would visit the state of Jalisco. There is so much beauty there. However I no longer have close family to visit in Mexico but I’ll never forget how alegre and beautiful Mexico is.

He is right about the rent here in Las Vegas where I live. Rent in the areas that are bad have increased greatly over the past three years. If you want to rent a nice two bedroom apartment in a better area you are looking at $2,000.00 plus, and they have doubled our electric and gas heating prices.

meh. You can always buy a place outside of Vegas in the middle of nowhere, and it will be quite a bit cheaper and you can still visit Vegas whenever you want. Although you would have to pay the Nevada Tax of having your next door neighbor be a Trump supporter. lol
Here in Silicon Valley, a ONE bedroom apartment is well north of 2000. But then, you get to live in the Bay Area. Comes down to what it's worth to you personally. There are lots of cheap places in this world but then you have to live there. 🙂

@@exposingextremists7786 gentrification is the natural order of Barrios. Either your Barrio is getting better or getting worse. Everyone benefits from gentrification. There are areas that went from scary as he!! In east Los Angeles Boyle heights area when I was a kid. Hard working people who wanted to buy a house moved there. They kept their houses clean, yards manicured. They got involved in the area. They called cops for crimes and told them information. Bad people got put in jail. Crime went down. More decent people moved in. Property values went up and people who had lived there for 50 years could actually sell their houses and downsize. The only people who "suffered " were the homeless, the junkies and the people who worked under the table for really good money, got section 8 and food stamps, even though they made more than I could as a union electrician. The people who had to rent their houses out to section 8, because nobody would buy the house, finally got either good rent or sold house for decent money. The money Americans bring to Mexico, is substantial. It enriches the areas they live. I lived in the same area in Mexico that my grandparents were from. I taught the kids English, put up a basketball hoop for kids in mi pubelo. I volunteered for numerous neighborhood things (volunteering isn't a big thing in most Latino countries) myself and two other expats and a bunch of current and ex policia started a gun club, so there was a safe place for people to shoot without endangering others.

I gave Mexico a chance when I bought an oceanfront condo in Rosarito Beach, Baja California, MX in 2005 for $80k. (That is about a 50 minute drive from the San Diego International Airport.) After 5 years, I sold for $95k and have never gone back, even for a visit. To put it simply -- Hated It.

@@glieseseventen4921 It was for both of those reasons.
As an owner, not a renter, this was a secondary residence for me. My primary residence, and my spouse, were in the NYC area. Strictly speaking, MX does not allow property ownership by foreigners along its borders and coastlines. But something very much like foreign ownership is achieved via a special legal provision, a document called a fideicomiso. By its terms, a MX bank is the technical owner of the property, but delegates full use of the property to the foreigner who buys the property according to the terms of the fideicomiso.
My condo association was not well managed. There were several ignorant, corrupt gringo board members who seemed to think that down in MX they could just do whatever they wanted. MX law had little or no force.
Whenever I went out, I inevitably headed straight for the USA and San Diego. As a guy in my 60s who only visited my place there, I never found anyplace in the Baja where I liked to go other than my condo and its beach access, and I formed no significant relationships with anyone else in the condo or in MX other than my local contractors. (I gut-renovated my condo unit.)
Crossing the border from the USA into MX was easy, but crossing back from MX into the USA was usually an hour-long hassle.
MX law was at times maddening, even when all I wished to do was observe it and be a good resident there.

The reason why Queretaro has always been considered "somewhat safe", is because in the 90s, alot of the Cartels family members lived there. Back then (not sure now), there was a golden rule that no one was allowed to touch others family members. This is why Queretaro started having less crime and violence over that period. From what I know, all those familes have moved out since the late 2000s, and now live somewhere else in Mexico. I visited Querétaro a long time ago when I was still leaving in Mexico and before I moved to the US. It’s a beautiful city. Any recommendations on Airbnb rentals? i would love to spend a few weeks there now that I retired.

(Juriquilla, El Campanario, La Cañada) are the new residential areas in Queretaro but they are kinda far from downtown. You can find very nice condos in historical buildings downtown.
Central Park Queretaro has a lot of new buildings as well and is closer to downtown.

Not a lot options for Airbnb downtown Queretaro.

Beautiful 🤩 home !! Parota. I think is one of the few ones that termites can’t get into. So very good 👍. And I think 🤔 you should add large indoor plants to fill in the voids. You have so much space I’d put one large plant in some corners.

When will your home be available for rent? I'm moving down in August and would be interested if it's still available.

    • @TangerineTravels
      @TangerineTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

If you're interested in it, you can text or call Jorge Hevia via Whatsapp at +52 998 100 2124 (Spanish preferred)
By the way, I don't know what the rent price is going to be for future tenants. Also, I rented the home unfurnished. All of the furniture that you see in the home is mine but I might be willing to sell some or all of it.

In 2021 I ran into expat in Vallarta, retired Marine. He straight up told me with what he gets from disability and retirement, he could not rent a CLOSET in the Bay Area where he's from!😆 In Vallarta, he is 10 min from the beach in a 2 bedroom gated condo with security and private parking for $500. a month!😳 I was like "damn! A storage unit in Cali cost more than that!" 🤦‍♂️

6:00 - At least in California, pools tend to lower the value of a property, so they're less and less common with newer homes.
