Whenever you're about to open a bag of chips or bite into some juicy fried chicken you can hear your parents yelling those words in your ear... or you can feel that tickle in your throat... In this video we'll explain to you what is Yeet Hay and what foods or actions would cause it.

    I never knew that there was more than one type of yeet hay 😳 I have been having symptoms of 虛火 (biting on my lips, mouth and tongue, sweating in my sleep) for these past few days and couldn’t figure out why my body felt weak and heaty even after drinking so much green tea 🍵(which is cooling). So I decided to 補陰 by making some Goji berry tea. It’s amazing how I felt much better almost instantly after I drank the tea and munched on a few of the berries 😳
    Thank you so much Carmen for coming back to OTGW and making this video 😊 it has been a rough year for me (since my father passed away from COVID in January) and your videos are one of the few things that often cheer me up in these uncertain times

The last time I spoke to him directly was on January 1 and he was forced onto a ventilator a few days after in order to be transferred to a better hospital back in Indonesia.
      He passed away unconscious and without any family beside him in the COVID emergency ward. I still cry about him whenever I think about the cruel way he passed. But I have met him a few times in my dreams after he passed and some other family and friends have seen him too. It’s one of the few things that assure me that he’s OK on the other side 😃

    In Vietnamese heat=nóng and cool=mát.
    I finally realized in my mid twenties what hot and cool foods actually mean.
    Acidic foods are considered Hot and Basic Foods are considered Cool.
    We Vietnamese would grow aloe Vera ,,and whenever our bodies feel too “hot “ then we will pick an aloe leaf, peel it and many times just it it raw, and I can assure you that you can actually feel the body cool down once the aloe is digested. I warn you though eating aloes is not for the faint hearted🤣

    My parents never really told me about "yeet hay". But if I eat crackers, chips, soda, or other junk food, I get the 清熱 (cing jit )2:11 feeling. But I've never had the 清熱 feeling after eating oranges, bananas, or some fried food. So maybe my tolerance for yeet hay food is between yours and Kevin's.

    hot air in general in western term is inflammation
    too rich protein consumption can cause this
    while the other you mentioned is lack of sleep cause your liver to build up heat in which you need to sleep for it to cool down
    sugar can be consider hot air
    banana is GMO making them much sweeter and often take a toll on your liver
    Having balance of electrolyte and magnesium often can help you to restore you so called detoxification.

    My mum is half Javanese. She's not Chinese (My dad is though) but she does have a similar hot vs cold food concept. Whenever we eat too much of "hot foods" she tells us
    "Jangan makan tuuu! Nanti masuk angin kamu!"

    "Don't eat that! The wind will enter your body!"
    My favourite "hot food" will most probably be a Chinese-Korean Jajangmyeon 😬😬😬

    • @NTDOffTheGreatWall
      @NTDOffTheGreatWall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wind... interesting. Is it the same concept of wind if you don’t blow dry your hair or cover up belly and it will go in? Or like “hot air”?

    • @jonathanlojitin2300
      @jonathanlojitin2300 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NTDOffTheGreatWall "Hot air" I think. Whenever my fam or I get sick we always blame the wind for ALMOST EVERYTHING. We barf, we have a fever, a small flu, constant coughing etc. We blame it on air or wind lol.
      "Kamu sakit? Aiyaa, masuk angin nih kamu!"
      Which means
      "You're sick? Aiyaa, looks like you got some air/wind inside"
      And fyi, we don't really count on modern medicine or a doctor's consultation. My mum usually cooks ginger soup infused with chicken or pork broth, apply eucalyptus oil or axe oil or frankincense essence. If all else fails we then consider clinics or hospitals 😮😮

    • @vtheory7531
      @vtheory7531 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m also from Java and my fam is ethnically Chinese. My parents always told me to be careful about foods that give me “panas dalam” or “inner heat” (basically fever). I think it’s a similar concept to Yeet Hay. I remember there are supplements you can drink to cool yourself down if you do get “inner heat”, usually some kind of tonic. I live in a western country now, and it’s interesting how concepts like Yeet Hay is unheard of in western medicine, but I still believe in it because it’s so intuitive. Ultimately if you eat a lot of unhealthy food you’ll become sick. So if you use Yeet hay as a guide to balance your diet you’ll become healthy overall, and I think that’s not a bad thing to add to the typical western nutrition knowledge.
