I used to be ashamed of my Chinese name , but now I embrace it thoroughly. It's my official name on my passport and driver license. I didn't respect my own culture until I became middle-aged. I'm now proud to be Chinese AND American. Keep promoting the Chinese culture! Good luck and see you later!

Great for you guys getting the channel back up and running. The Flushing Mall was closed, because of a Covid violation, according to a couple of Internet sites. I loved the chinese historical skits/history lessons. I also hope that some of the old group can make cameos, on recorded "zoom type videos" of skits. Miss you guys alot. Hope to see Yi sometime too.

I have mixed feelings seeing how old some of your videos are as the video quality is now so poor but the content quality, entertainment & education factors are still top notch. I started watching you guys while in college a couple of years ago. I was disappointed that new videos weren’t being made. However, I still enjoy the older videos.

been watching OTGW since I was 7 and now I’m 2 inches taller than Dan 😭😭 I miss you guys so much I grew up watching these videos and I met Dan and Mike once in LA 真是緣分！
In terms of topics, I think it could be good to talk about cultural experiences across different cities (i.e. is being Chinese in Toronto vs. being Chinese in vancouver vs NY, etc.) Or something like common Chinese phrases to say within certain holidays, especially different sayings that relate to the different zodiac. ( maybe even for western holidays like Christmas or valentines day).

44:33 Mike was briefly mentioned but they never address what happened to the Double Chen channel. The reason why Mike, Dan & Yi left OTGW back in 2015 after doing 3 years on this channel. My guess is that the new business partnership just didn't work out and they went their own ways.
@@aznboiaaa He was married when he was very young so I don't believe it was mainly because of the marriage to Yi. In the other video he blamed family reasons but I really believe it was mainly business related and a little bit of family reasons. Money obviously was a factor. You gotta remember he and Yi quit OTGW & left New York in order to move out across the other side to San Francisco. You don't do that unless you were really serious about it. So something major must of happened to force them to quit and go back. San Francisco is a expensive place to live and at the time the Double Chen Show was still pretty small (compared to Mike other channels and projects). I think Mike was so busy with his other channels and projects that it left Dan and Yi feeling he's not committed enough to their team project. Money was tight and so I think it's why they left Mike and went back to New York. Dan rejoin OTGW and when OTGW stopped. Dan did those commercials and real estate agent. Yi just disappeared into private life.
I recently found Off the Great Wall while scrolling through my suggested videos. I think it may have come up because I watched Strictly Dumpling's Best and Worst Instant Noodles and was surprised to see Mike Chen also on this channel. I scrolled through the video content of this channel and watched some of it and found the content very interesting. My family's originally from Fujian, China, but my parents and the generations after them were all born and raised here in the Philippines. So, any topic that talks about anything Chinese is interesting to me. The only regret that I have is that I don't speak Mandarin and my brain can't seem to absorb learning a new language, so I had a hard time communicating with relatives in China when I went to visit them a few years ago. They speak Hokkien, but there were a lot of words that I'm not familiar with and sometimes they talk with a sprinkle of Mandarin. I'm happy that I subscribed to this channel just in time for its revival. Thank you very much for coming back.

thank you! That’s a great suggestion. If we have enough people to support that’s something we can consider. To be honest we are not really getting anything from YT but we are not doing this for money. it would be nice tho to be able to off load some work to others since we are basically doing everything ourselves on top of our own jobs etc.
