In this Rosanna guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this amazing song from Toto note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
Steve Lukather has some great guitar work in this one. I will take you through each of the rhythm guitar parts in the order that each occurs on the original recording. This lesson is based off of the single version of"Rosanna", so the ending jam session, with Steve's Lukather's outro solo that is found on the album version will be omitted.
I will also show you how to play Steve's incredible main guitar solo note-for-note. Besides containing great melodic ideas, there are also some very cool guitar licks in this solo as well.

I owe you a huge apology Brother. I have watched so many of your videos, and picked up so many lil things from you. I have been playing for just over 50 years, and came up in a time when we lifted needles on record players up and down over and over again to learn songs and solos, and then we would wait until a song came on the radio and then try to record it on cassette so that we could learn it. I have played by ear my entire life. You though have made it so easy to learn things I was doing wrong, and things I just never tried because I may have thought that they were too difficult. All this to say thank you so very much for all you have done to help me, and so many other thousands of pickers. I am sure just like me none on of us take you for granted!! Thank you again!!!!!

Steve Lukather is a REDICULOUSLY awesome guitarist...check out his outro solo at the end of Lionel Richie's "running with the night" from the 80's...it melodically fits the song yet it is a SCORCHING guitar run...master class !!!!!

Great lesson once again! Just a minor correction: The pre-chorus clean section chords are Gm, Dm7, A#. No Am in this part. Of course , you play it correctly by strumming only A (7th fret on D string) & C (5th fret on G string). I really have learnt a lot watching your tutorials. Keep on!!!

A good way to explain that rhythm is the accenting in a BoDiddley beat. I think once that is internalized, the accents become easier…

I don’t really have any tones I create specifically to match the sound of the song I teach.. I usually use 4 or 5 tones for all of my lessons... so it really isn’t accurate to the song, just something I throw together real quick
