Lyrics:
All I wanna do when I wake up in the morning is see your eyes
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that a girl like you could ever care for me
Rosanna
All I wanna do in the middle of the evening is hold you tight
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know you were looking for more than I could ever be
Not quite a year since you went away
Rosanna, yeah
Now she's gone, and I have to say
Meet you all the way
Meet you all the way
Rosanna, yeah
I can see your face still shining through the window on the other side
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know that a girl like you could make me feel so sad
Rosanna
All I wanna tell you is now you'll never ever have to compromise
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that losing you could ever hurt so bad
Not quite a year since you went away
Rosanna, yeah
Now she's gone, and I have to say
Meet you all the way
Meet you all the way
Rosanna, yeah
Not quite a year since you went away
(Who is it?) Rosanna, yeah
Now she's gone, and I have to say
Meet you all the way, yeah, yeah, girl
Meet you all the way
Rosanna, yeah
Meet you all the way ooh, ooh, ooh, yeah
Meet you all the way
Rosanna, yeah - เพลง
Bands playing behind wire fences was HUGE in the 80's
They were safe from beer cans thrown at them...
The mullet and porn-stache was super popular back then too.
Trying to look "street," eh? LOL Even in the 80s, white people were trying to be black.
So were ladies in red...
So can you name them please for those who is from 2000's?
I'm thankful my daughter listen to this song when she is in her room, I often only hear the drum intro tho

The Porcaro shuffle is legendary. The master at work!
He gives credit also to Bonham's "Fool In The Rain" shuffle (which is at a slower tempo).

My mother first heard this song in 1980 when I played the album on my stereo. She came in dancing and proclaimed it her favorite. She listened to it later in life almost every day streaming it until the day she died. To honor my mother's memory, I play this song before I play anything other when I listen to music. Love you mom.
Oh man, I am sorry :(
Beautiful tribute .. your mother and you have great taste. May she be dancing in heaven and thinking of the precious moments ..My peace be with you.
Was released in 1982, but very touching story nonetheless. Losing a parent is tough, and honoring them every day is how we keep their memory alive.
Lost my mom too it’s those random moments that imprint the most lol my mom liked bagpipe music and daisies listen and buy all the time miss her very much
@@angelawilliams7955 I want Amazing Grace on bagpipes played at my funeral. Sends chills around my body thinking of that version.
My Uncle, David Hungate, is the actual bassist you hear in the recording. When he left Toto after recording TOTO IV, Mike Porcaro took over until a few years before his death in 2015. David actually sold one of his basses to Mike. David was Mike's favorite bass player! After decades of session work with hundreds of artist, David is pretty much retired now living quietly in Tennessee. We chat about once a week and visit about once a year. He is my bass mentor and teacher. :)
It's too bad he's not still performing. I love to watch older guys still rocking on stage.
@@davidfuchs9636 David still fools around here and there. His Son is a a great drummer and is in a nice band. I think here and there he does some "JAMMIN" with them. D is pretty happy with retired life! :)
Very good to hear this tale of two bass players.. made me feel melancholy about Mike Porcaro and said some prayers for his family and loved ones, .. Steve Lukather .. Toto bandmates. It must still really ache to have him pass so young. Big hole where he was here.
What's your cousin's band name? Yoir Uncle sounds like a super cool guy.

Africa is a great song and all, but Rosanna is on a whole nother level of music that songs rarely reach.
Song of that year 💪
So agree..eclipses even Eagles.....
Rosanna and Hold The Line are the best Toto songs in my opinion
This song is an absolute masterpiece - a flawless pop symphony. These guys were the cream of the crop - original members such as Steve Lukather, David Paich, and Jeff Porcaro were some of the most sought-after session musicians of their day before they formed a band. IMO, Rosanna was the best American pop song to be released since "Good Vibrations" came out in 1966.
Exactamente, es una obra maestra. Impecable.
I believe this song is about Roseanna Arquette, the actress.
Steve Porcaro was dating Roseanna Arquette at the time David Paich composed the tune. He didn´t have a title for the song and one day went to some place where Steve and Rosseanne were and ,well, the rest is history. Paich himself tells the history in some interview I saw here on the tube.
By the way, the girl in red is Cynthia Rhodes, Penny in 1987's Dirty Dancing. Also Patrick Swayze appeared in the video as one of the group of male dancers who back up Cynthia. He is the one wearing a red jacket.@@djstyxxsuriname
She was actually dating Steve Porcaro at the time. @@PSICODOZO

Ah, simpler times, right?
Are you insinuating that enhancing vocals and other things on computer doesn't take much talent? Because it certainly does. I'm learning music production now and making something that doesn't sound awful in FL studio is a lot harder than you'd think, someone like Skrillex is just as talented as any musician with an instrument imo. A DAW (Studio program) is an instrument to someone like him.
We were so lucky to have this kind of music.
Still the most sonically perfect record ever produced. EVER. 100 decibels of dynamics shifting back and forth. You can hear every Porcaro tom fill, every Hungate bass note, every seering Lukather gash, every horn punch, every little percussion fill, synth part or keyboard pushbeat. As a recording engineer, it still brings tears to my eyes. Buy some fucking speakers and turn it up!
❤❤❤fully agree, a timeless classic,
One gorgeous wall of sound!❤❤❤❤
Ok the maxx😅😅😅
Cranking it on my HS8s as we speak :). It is good. The mix and production is one thing, but the pure talent and creativity to actually come up with this stuff is out of this world. The clever arrangement is typical toto and very ahead of its time. And songs like this has been a breath of fresh air in all the decades since it was released. And it still holds up today like it was recorded yesterday. Might just be me getting old tho. :D hahaha.
What an amazing group of musicians. “Africa” is iconic but “Rosanna” is a killer chart.
Reminds me when they had comedian Deon Cole (the most recent Old Spice guy) on Conan commenting on BLM protests. Someone at a protest had a sign that said, “Africa is Toto’s greatest song.”
Cole responded, “Africa is their best song? Idk about that? You ever heard Rosanna? It’s the jam.”

Well said! Such incredible musicianship.
um, no. I respect their impeccable musicianship but most of their catalog is cheesy af. Want proof? Listen to a "best of Toto" right now - not in the background, I mean with your undivided attention - and try to get past the 5th song. It's cheesy now, it was cheesy then, I just didn't know any better when I was a kid.
The video sure didn't though >>
Great group : -)
@@paulmayerpiano It's always pop after all. It's meant to be that way. If you look past the lyrics and the mood of the song, you'll realise that every member of the band is extremely talented. Rick Beato underlines exactly this in his "What Makes This Song Great" episode about this very tune, by playing each track individually and describing the function of each artistic element (chords, scales, rhythm...) in a clear way, even to people not familiar with music theory.
What a great song, I worked opening a fast food restaurant a little black girl run the front register was named Rose Everyone was sleepy eyed and all of sudden my boss started singing this song over the loud speaker to her , soon the whole restaurant was singing to this cute little black girl , what a great time in 1983 at BoJangles in Florence South Carolina Thanks toto

That's exactly what I feel too. The bad music nowadays creates opportunities for the classic to come back out. Right? I mean this kind of masterpiece song can only get better as bad songs come out each year. It just shows u , we should never take for granted real musicians that make real music. Btw the whole song is amazing, but for my the highlight is starting at 2:53 which the keyboard and the trumpets come together while Cynthia rhoades starts to gracefully dance like spinning, and kicking her leg. Then the three guys with the trumpets play, and the keyboard again, so it starts melodic then the mean guitar comes in. That was insane.

This was my mom's favorite song and I heard it almost every day when she made dinner. Incredibly nostalgic for me. Beautiful song
Love this song
Such a great band so much talent , the melodies are timeless.
Funny thing is that I loved this song growing up and now I love it even more. The little things that Bobby Kimball does in between the main lyrics really enrich the song. For example, when he says " I never knew that losing you would ever hurt so bad". It's not the lyric itself,it's the way he sings and expresses it that is incredibly moving! This band hit it out of the park with this song!
Yes yes yes!
The way he had the feelings come alive, made the song sound like exaltation and desperation all at once.
Phenomenal.
