We love our 2021.5 Atlas SEL. Adults can sit in the back. Smooth and quiet. Over two years of ownership and one service call for low coolant warning when it went 30 F below. Turns out the sensor just needed to be reset. Four years of warranty is comforting as well.
I've had my '24 for 2 months now. Rides great and mileage is in the low 20's. One thing I dislike is how nearly everything is controlled though the big screen. My attention is focused too much on that and not enough on the road. VW bring back the knobs and buttons!
The lack of real buttons and knobs for radio and climate is the deal breaker for me. They will fix it with the redesign in a couple of years. Very annoying
hand gestures and voice control , i bought mine four days ago and it was ackward at first and now i’m used to talking to it. Appreciate clean uncluttered environment . Can see how this would be an issue for old folks
Nice. I'd go with a Cross Sport as I don't need the third row. I always wanted a VW but feared them until I got my 21 Arteon. I only have 30k miles on it but its never been back to the dealer and its really fun to drive. I am looking into the CS now. Great review.

2021 SE V6 R-line Captain chairs second row for my wife. She loves it. The only thing they can't figure out is shaky tranny shifting 2nd to 3rd. Overall, great ride, quiet Audi Q7s little cousin.
I have 2 kids, got a 2018 atlas, v6 awd sel, back in December 2017. Been pretty reliable and had no issues. Its honestly been the perfect family utility vehicle due to its size and function. From moving people to large items or both, its among best in class. Only complaint is the gas mileage and wished the driver area had more softer materials at touch points. Otherwise its perfect. From what i have seen its either a hit or miss with vw and reliability. People either have the worst experience with them or perfectly reliable. I personally dont trust VWs turbo engines and felt safer with with their v6 which has been proven to be bulletproof for the most part. Tied with that asin transmission, same Toyota uses, i have confidence the drivetrain will last.

My wife has a 2021 Volkswagen atlas. She hit a deer in May 2023 seven months ago and it has been sitting at the autobody shop every sense. Volkswagen cannot tell us when they will be manufacturing a hood or bumper and this is left us with no car, but a car payment and insurance to pay for. I would not buy a Volkswagen atlas or any Volkswagen because they are not manufacturing parts to repair their cars.
Looks pretty nice although looks to be lacking in rear passenger space, I’m still partial to the Honda Pilot with great passenger and cargo space and stone reliable non-turbo V6!
Atlas is no problem as long as you get one with VR6 engine. An Aisin transmission, should keep you away from the garage. Changed the transmission fluid at 50,000 miles. Serviced the Haldex and did a brake fluid change every 3 years. So far, so good. No problems with it.
Funny how you don’t mention the touch sensitive buttons and no physical volume button, Honda does it and the whole world shits on them. Not even a word in the comment either. Things that make you go Hmmmmm
Seen this, and the Cross Sport, on my other favorite car review channels. If I were shopping in this segment, I’d probably go with the Cross Sport instead just because I don’t necessarily need the third row. Still the same specs as the 3-row, and just as spacious in the back for being a 2-row. The drivetrain looks to be a bit better, too. I was thinking about test driving the old 3-row Atlas just to see exactly what the old VR6 engine is like since one used dealer has a few (higher mileage) on the cheap side. I’d be spending a fortune in gas for it, though, and that’s one thing that’s turning me away from one. Still, I gotta think if they’re giving this to the Atlas, I’m wondering what they’re cooking up for the Tiguan. I know that one’s bound for a mid-cycle refresh at some point.
I would never buy a VW…have had loads of friends with them and they turned out to be electrical system nightmares…one even used the lemon law to get rid of hers…but you go right ahead! They always look cool with cool features…but turns out, it is a little more important to me to have a car that will go when I need it to go!
@@paulandbeauoutdoors2685 I have 2 (2020 Jetta, 2023 Taos) not a single issue and they are daily drivers for work with a lot of miles. 1/2 of all of the know-nothing complaints are due to poor/non existent maintenance or using junk parts and non-OEM fluids. SO many people are cheap and don't take care of their car properly.
What is better VW Atlas 2024 or Ford Explorer ST 2024? - My verdict: only lease them for three years brand new with factory guarantee. As for me Ito purchase I would choose Acura or Lexus products.
The bad points of my VW Atlas 2024 are You can’t put the seat heat ON at night in order to have a warm seat or steering once you start the engine at morning inside your house Secondly You can’t put the car on Eco mode permanently But we have to change to eco mode every time we start the car
Nice looking VW Atlas still think it is a little underpowered. A turbo six around 300 hp would be what a lot of buyers would love to see in this 3 row suv.

Never touch a turbo for that price. If Atlas is V6 then it was reliable.....VW is making great profit by packaging 2lit engine like in a mitsubishi lancer🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣....instead of boosting power of V6 Atlas with electric motors they went to worst....TV sticking out, no gear, no center dial, no ac controls😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬

Yeah, wife spent a about 15 minutes in the 24 Atlas and said this is the one. Had it for a month and she loves it as do all her friends.

We have a 2023 and have put about 17K miles on it. We have not had one problem. Tons of room and a very smooth ride. Power is lacking...
The lack of physical HVAC would be a deal breaker for my wife. But at least they make it easy to get to the right screen display.

I went with the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder. Already towed a travel trailer weighing 5,800 pounds.
WIFE SAYS YES!
Wallet says no thanks!
All cars are insane today. Especially those pickup trucks.
What’s the exterior color of this model called?
How long until that little 4 turbo charged GDI starts causing problems. STOOPID!!! We have the 2018 VR6. No major problem yet.
Can you get Nav on the MID? Or does it have a head-up display?

Rear passenger room is awesome compared to most other 3-row SUVs.

yeah but other reviewers might, and not everybody complained about Honda
not having a volume knob in the Civic and CRV awhile back.
Nice looking rig would never buy one but lease it might be the way to go don't trust VW to be trouble free.
I’ve had a VW since 2018.. never had any issues

Sure, I believe you - not at all.
True but at the same time if I am buying a vehicle and I’m the only one driving I don’t need my wife to tell me yes or no.

Wifey is a smart one id keep her if i was you. Would pick this over the over priced, poor quality till-u-ride burns down.
Did you get the impression that I wasn't going to keep her? LOL

Needs hybrid power. It’s underpowered for its size
It does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds and tows 5000 lbs, how the hell is it underpowered, exactly?
@@smashtankful Sorry I didn’t realize there was a bump in power for 2024.
not at all, 7.7 seconds is plenty, even going up a hill.
I would never again get a turbo engine
More problems than it is worth
Tell that to fleet managers and taxi owners in Europe. Turbo BMWs and Mercedes with a million km and zero engine repairs.
BMW with a million km and no repairs? I want to see this unicorn.
This car is unreliable

VW makes nice cars but they have too much technology.
Too much? There is not even that much in the atlas. ;)
