Stay afraid !!! Stick with Honda my friend.😊 Look no further than a VW owner like myself or a VW repair technician. I'm an Acura guy myself and when this lease is up its headed straight to the Acura dealership.
I ordered a new one last month thinking I’d make the final decision once I saw your review. I’ve got a 2018 exec atlas. Love the new interior and great value for the price. Waiting for a dealer test drive soon I hope. Great review as per usual.
Are they already taking orders? When I check with the dealership they mentioned they are not quite sure about the pricing yet, this was last week. From Canada 🇨🇦
We have a 2019 VW Atlas Exc line. We got the bench seat as well as we fit three car seats across the middle bench, while still being able to access the third row if needed. So far it has been an excellent experience as the kids grow. We have a 6year old and (2) 4 year olds. They have lots of leg room in that second row. The updates look nice but still no hybrid which we would be interested in for getting another SUV.
Fantastic review!! I am impressed with your attention to details and your review is way different than the regular reviews from the other TH-cam channels.. great job!!
My biggest gripes are the gloss black still in the interior and the fact the Harman Kardon stereo is only available on the top trim. That's inexcusable.
Great review, I just purchased a 2024 Pure Gray Atlas Cross Sport Execline. Finding little "easter eggs" not listed in a manual. You can actually shut off car while it is still in Drive mode and stopped and it also applies the Parking Brake - no need to move shifter to Park then engage Parking brake. Also first ever HUD that I can see with Polarized sunglasses :) :) :) Yep I miss the volume knob as I traded in a 2023 VW Tiguan Highline R Line. Regards Carl
We have a 2021 ID4 and really enjoy the 12” main display with its haptic controls. I just don’t get how so many people have trouble with it. It works really well as do the haptic switches on the steering wheel. Crazy
I’m not sure why so many people are tripping over the i4 in this thing….it’s the same block that’s in the base Q7…and the Q7 weights almost 1800lbs more
I just picked up an Atlas 2024 cross-sport...I really like it, but I think what is really not very well thought through is that the volume slider and HVAC are not backlit!
Audi q7 turbo 4 I have. It is more than enough power, 30 mpg I get on highway more than advertised. In city driving 18-20. Peak trim is great looking. Vw interiors are usually better than competitors. New models Looks good
Your not wrong Mr Motormouth the front end looks like from a ford explorer the interior is a Volkswagen gti and the back is very q7 or q8 they took the best of all I think so it gets a pass as it looks damn good I’d get a vr6 though before it’s gone.
HPA (another Canadian business) has developed a VR550T VR6 based on the Chinese market 2.5L VR6 and added a turbo if you want to transplant a VR6 back in to a VW.
I pick mine up Tuesday (Oct 22), there was nothing I didn't like during my extended test drive. By comparison I also drove, Dodge Durango, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Honda Passport, Nissan Pathfinder and finally the Toyota 4Runner, and after a very long day I settled on the VW Atlas.
A similar engine in the Tiguan would be nice. The current version of the 2.0T in the Tiguan is SO underpowered, which is a shame because the vehicle rides and handles so nicely.
Atlas needs to have the VR6. That small 4 turbo charged will be trouble. It's physics. Turbo charging a small engine to have power to pull such a heavy vehicle.
I think this is the same engine in Audi q5 2T. If that is the case they have fixed the transmission is finally smooth in Atlas. With great interior and better gas miles this is a good 3 row SUV

Loving the new Atlas but these mpg ratings are not competitive. As an Uber driver I want an Atlas 7 seater with a combined 30+ EPA at least. Guess I will wait for the Buzz?
I see they have both V4 and V6 options on their US website. V6- 276hp vs V4 235hp with premium fuel. I guess V6 would be the preferred one. Can you please do a demo for the 2024 Atlas V6? I guess the website is not updated yet. Looks like a Porsche type shifter :). Love it.
@@bmw803 The “VR” stands for “V-Reihenmotor” (Reihenmotor being German for “inline engine”) - or simplified to English, “Inline-V engine.” So, technically, the VR6 is a V6 engine, with a narrow 15-degree bank angle (along with a variant with a 10.6-degree bank angle)
@arabelhernandez9494 I knew that detail, but that's why it ain't a true V shaped engine. It's basically a cross between inline and V. I think it was Lancia that came up with this originally.
The engine growl in sport mode that Andrea mentioned may be fake and provided by the same "soundaktor" system used in the Golf and a variety of models produced by VAG. There is a TH-cam video showing how to reduce - actually eliminate - the fake noise from the soundaktor from 100% to 0% in the Golf using VCDS. I'm hoping that the Porsche dealer can do the same in our Cayenne but I asked only last week after I found out that our Cayenne has the exact same soundaktor and I haven't heard back yet. I don't mind the fake noise so much but it seems silly and my wife absolutely hates the extra noise when I put the Cayenne in sport mode.
Have they updated the reliability of the electronics? Ive seen some sitting at dealerships for modules that stop the car from being driveable but VW cant give a time on when the part will be available. Had a guy at my job be 8 months without his atlas.

@@krane15 I rather lose a few MPG, and not having to worry about that small engine giving up after warranty is over. We have a 2018 Atlas VR6, and it isn't too bad on the freeway. I get 29 mpg, which isn't bad.
I think VW has done a fab job with this vehicle, that was already great. With soaring gas prices, the engine makes sense with enough power to keep the drive exciting. It's also those little tweaks like the split ac vents (that's a winner, I wonder why other mfg's don't do it), the center console isn't intrusive on the visibility. I do miss seeing the fender audio (did you like the HK in this?), physical knobs & a hybrid option though!
Get on the boost and fuel economy will drop like a rock. Tow capacity for the turbo is 2,000 lbs., less than other large SUVs with turbos and 5,000 lbs. for the V6.
Good for Honda for sticking with a naturally aspirated engine and good AWD in the Pilot and Passort. I must admit that Honda makes my favourite ordinary "big" SUVs.
Looks like a good value. I have the slider volume control in my ID4, and I've actually grown to like it. It's become natural to reach out, almost without looking, and slide my finger to adjust the volume. But, the physical buttons on the Atlas steering wheel look like a significant improvement over the old haptic ones like in my car, which can sometimes be hard to find by feel.
@@keska01 I'm fine with tapping the dedicated temperature control slider. A two-finger tap also adjusts the heated seats, which is nice. Everything else with the climate control is accessible on the touch screen by pushing the Clima button. I always leave climate control in auto, so I've never touched any of those settings, and don't feel the need to. The one exception is turning AC on or off. I wish there were a dedicated button. I have to hit Clima and then switch AC on or off.
Those companies need to STOP reinventing simple shit that worked forever. Having to browse thru menus for something basic is stupid. My 2013 Jetta still has "cable" heat temp adjustment. It's basic, and probably will never break. Same goes with those stupid electric parking brakes. THE FUCK WAS WRONG WITH A HANDLE / CABLE?

Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland has a bench seat. At least as well equipped as the Atlas. No one ever out the GC in the same class as the Atlas, Grand Highlander, etc, wonder why?
I will give you our experience with our 21.5 Atlas SEL after two years of ownership. We have taken it into the dealer once for a coolant sensor alert when it hit 15 below F in Montana. Other than that, we have had no issues. No guarantees but I was nervous after moving away from a Highlander. It’s comforting to still have another two years of warranty.
I have a 2018 vw Atlas SEL premium V6. It’s been a great car with kids and a big dog. The Fender audio system is nice. The current Harmon/Kardon audio system in our 2023 Volvo xc40 is terrible so it might be a bummer in the new Atlas. Comfortable and quiet Atlas is nice drive on trips. It takes up a lot of road so is no fun to drive in town. Poor poor nonexistent dealer support.
do you recommend plastic carbon fiber? plastic aluminum look? I'll take piano black over the soft touch crap that gets sticky after several hot summers...
The fake exhaust is best. With direct injection, you get exhaust soot if you have real ones... people need to look at the positives, and that goes for the iron block 2L engine

Wow this is actually looking good. I wish the engine was better . Too weak but it’s nice
So you could wish it had better fuel economy instead?
@@krane15 either better fuel economy or v6
@@krane15 I rather lose a few MPG, and not having to worry about that small engine giving up after warranty is over. We have a 2018 Atlas VR6, and it isn't too bad on the freeway. I get 29 mpg, which isn't bad.
How silent is the cabin?
So the off-roadie Peake trim does NOT get the 360 camera?
I think VW has done a fab job with this vehicle, that was already great. With soaring gas prices, the engine makes sense with enough power to keep the drive exciting. It's also those little tweaks like the split ac vents (that's a winner, I wonder why other mfg's don't do it), the center console isn't intrusive on the visibility. I do miss seeing the fender audio (did you like the HK in this?), physical knobs & a hybrid option though!
Horseshit.....the worst infotainment system on the planet, and that 4 banger engine sucks MORE gas than the V-6 it replaces.
Zack is right, it looks like an expedition from the front lol
Like this car!!!!
Cream interior (b roll) and dark tint would make this thing pop for me.
How would you compare this to the cx90?
Get on the boost and fuel economy will drop like a rock. Tow capacity for the turbo is 2,000 lbs., less than other large SUVs with turbos and 5,000 lbs. for the V6.
They said the new turbo 4 can tow 5,000 lbs. @18:33
How about climate control?
I must admit the VW Atlas & Taos are very nice cars intended to be exported from Germany to the North American Countries which are Midsize SUV segments In South Africa & other countries the Small VW range was imported I have the VW T - Cross which was launched into South Africa in 2019 Later the T - Roc Golf based engine & Taigo more the Polo based Segment very happy with my baby T - Cross what a car drives so smoothly with DSG Automatic 7 Speed Gearbox just a matter of interest are there any Small VW introduced to CANADA?
Atlas and TAOS are not made in Germany.
For that size even when the turbo that small 2L mind strain it as it ages .. a bigger 4 cylinder . Like a 2.4 or 2.5 .. make it directly competitive
Might**
Just bought a 2024 crossport, where the heck is the dipstick?
Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland has a bench seat. At least as well equipped as the Atlas. No one ever out the GC in the same class as the Atlas, Grand Highlander, etc, wonder why?
Execline or Grand Highlander Hybrid Max? I’m hearing Execline available in September while the GH Hybrid Max is probably 12-14months out
People are literally driving the Hybrid Max right now.
@@naboxter842 I should have clarified, I meant in Canada. GH hasn't been released yet here.
First comment again BOOM. My life is really coming together
Atlas reliability???
I will give you our experience with our 21.5 Atlas SEL after two years of ownership. We have taken it into the dealer once for a coolant sensor alert when it hit 15 below F in Montana. Other than that, we have had no issues. No guarantees but I was nervous after moving away from a Highlander. It’s comforting to still have another two years of warranty.
I had an Audi A4 with the 2.0L turbo. Not a good experience for me.
Using GTI engine for heavy SUV!!?? I think it’s underpowered it should be above 300hp and torque as well. What can you tow with this?
Great funny review Andrea! This is very nice and it’s great to have some choices of seats and wherever you want 2 row or 3rd row. 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
More manufacturers need to offer a bench seat on all trims in a 7 or 8-passenger SUV. So glad you enjoyed the review, thanks for watching!
@@andreaspencer9813 totally agree on that! You are n very welcome! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Did i miss or there was no mention of mpg ?
You missed..it’s 19 City, 26 Highway
Piano black at this price point is unacceptable.
Would it be acceptable on a Bentley?
Don't buy any car with piano black. That stuff will look like trash by the first year of use.
do you recommend plastic carbon fiber? plastic aluminum look? I'll take piano black over the soft touch crap that gets sticky after several hot summers...
@@K03sport You should wash your hands more often then.
Don’t look at an Audi then.
It’s unacceptable at any price point. It is cheap trash. Hopefully a quick fad.
Zack, it DOES look like a Ford in my opinion
Vr6 turbo I would buy one
That engine is only in China unfortunately.
Can anyone tell me why my turn signal does not go off automatically?
The fake exhaust is best. With direct injection, you get exhaust soot if you have real ones... people need to look at the positives, and that goes for the iron block 2L engine
I think the infotainment would be a dealbreaker for me.
Long term durability is still a question. I agree. VW long term reliability has been circling the bowl over the past number of years.
I do like this car. My issue is the outside other than the grill has not changed since it was introduced
