‘India won’t accept differential standards of security’- S. Jaishankar on UK pro-Khalistan protest

- External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar while responding to a question on the issue of threat to the diplomats in UK, said that on the day vandals appeared outside Indian High Commission, the security at the High commission failed to meet expected standards. He added,’Many countries are very casual about it. They have a very different view about their own security & a different view about other people’s security. But I can tell you as a foreign minister that we are not going to accept this kind of differential treatment.’

Having a US consulate in Bengaluru is a no brainer considering the difficulties in traveling to Chennai. A distance of merely 330 Km takes over 7 -9 hours by the (Tolled) national highways that have potholes, speed breakers and diversions for the past 5 years. I drive routinely between these cities and the national highways between two metros are such as sorry state for many years. When the Vajpayee Quadrilateral was built it was a quantum jump in road connectivity. Since then infrastructure in the south especially between these two cities is horrible. Train connectivity was at 7 hours by Brindavan exp in 1970s when I first travelled. It has barely reduced to 4:25h (350km). We are far behind Europe (e.g. Madrid to Barcelona 550 km in 2:30h. and Beijing-Shanghai (5h for 1300Km). If the IT capital of the country and the top tourist state's metro has such poor connectivity, how will India's efficiency and image change?

To me, i feel intercaste marriages is the only way we can speed up this process. The government needs to promote intercaste marriage on a mission mode. The more we intermingle, the less we will discriminate.

Discrimination is a result of people's mindset and no external change would be enough to eradicate it. Only education and awareness would help. Your opinion on people's marriages is skewed.

Education and awareness is extremely important but these two only are not merely enough. Social inter linking and movement is a must.

Remember the time Chief ministers like K Chandra Sekhar Rao propagated the need for helicopter money financial policy during Covid? Thanks to Team Modi for sticking to their policies that are helping India today.
I am a great admirer of Mr Jaishanker & his diplomatic skills & dealing with other countries. But he now seems to be a preacher for PM Modi ( and the BJP).
The way to judge India is to compare it with a compatible Asian Nation wrt Population & GDP- namely China, I am 86 years of age - 50 years in India after graduating in India in Elec Eng in 1958 & first job in Bhilai Steel Plant (Russian)& other Public sector Projects, (25kv AC Traction Railway Electrification)then joined Siemens India Bombay in their Projects Drives & Automation Division & worked in Bihar/Bengal/Orissa & almost every State in India including Germany before immigrating to Siemens Alpharetta US in 1986. So I am very familiar with India- but/but China & India started with the same GDP in 1947/49- Today India’s GDP is $ 3.20 Trillion but China is 6x times more & the U.S. 9x times more- so Indians & Modi’s Govt needs to work harder to reach Chinas standard.
Even though my first allegiance is to the U.S., being a citizen here, but a large part of my heart belongs to India & I want India to succeed. I hope that the “Hindutva” policy has now diminished or India would divide into 5x Pakistans. Indian genius can do more - I know it- so don’t blow Modi’s/ BJP trumpet, & strive to catch up with China’s GDP

Salutations Dr. S. Jaishankar, 2003 I purchased a land to build a Mahavidya Temple as an Australian, using my passport as a prove of Identity. Now, at 79, I have created a will that benefits my daughter who was born in India. The land office in TN refuse to register the will without an Aadhar card.
