When you've played ark for years, it is easy to forget just how horrifying the caves and their creatures are. The dossiers do a decent job of reminding you.
I’m just starting caving and I freaking hate these creatures except for the dung beetles. I’ve bred a pack of Sabertooth, raptors, Dilos and Scorpions to get through for the artifacts. The lava cave was a real bit*ch. I teach hope the others don’t have lava.
It was so fun to be a part of this! Thanks for letting me participate again! I was the first spider, I was the megalo here at 1:45 looking at the Arthro. I was the guy taming and riding the arthro at 2:00 too! 3:00 I was the guy inspecting the boxes on the right and I was the guy with the spyglass by the forge at 3:29. It’s always fun to body act!
I’ve only been playing Ark for a few weeks and I freaking hate swamps and caves. After the hell of taming a breeding pair of Baryonyx and Sarcos I just avoid the swamps altogether. I *would gladly* avoid caves except that I must venture inside to get the artifacts. I hate caves. All right, I’ve bred a pack of Sabertooths, raptors and Scorpions with a trio of Dilos to get me through but I still take losses each time. The first cave wasn’t too bad, I took a few losses but I retrieved the Hunter artifact and got out. The lava cave was pure hell. I lost most of my escort pack to the freaking lava! I only survived because I brought a lot of canteens, wore my ghillie clothes and rode in on a Terror Bird brought specially because it can flap its wings and extend/slow down the jumps. Even so, I only came out with one surviving escort bird and two raptors. But that’s why I go to the trouble of taming a suitable breeding pair, preferably with a few mutations then carefully raise them to high level. After that they remain safe and securely in their enclosure back at my main fortress since I’m a solo mode or PvE player. Okay it can take a bit of time breeding a full caving team, but having a proper breeding pair safely back at home means they can always be replaced by siblings of the same quality. I hope to all goodness that there are no more lava caves. I can manage normal caves and I’m preparing a fine Basilosaurus of a suitable breeding pair, a couple of Sarcos and a pack of Megalodon for those. Might bring a Baryonyx too. As for the bosses, I’m still in the process of trying to get suitable breeding pairs of Rexes, Yutys and Theris but those are… rather more challenging to get in large enough numbers to find mutations. I may have to go with minimal mutations and hope they do the trick.
Another well made video! This is what makes learning video game lore enjoyable. Instead of hours of reading it on the Wiki, watching an entertaining video with all the dossiers. Keep up the great work! A+ in my gradebook (if I were still interested in being a teacher lol)
Now a much more experienced Ark player I’m viewing this video through the eyes of one with a very different perspective. Especially now I’ve beaten The Island map and know the various reasons behind all the little oddities that Helena mentions here and there in her dossiers and explorer notes. But because I have recently started a new character on the Island due to losing all my ASE saves when my PS4 broke down and I decided to just stay on ASE on the PS5 I’m finding these videos a good reminder about all the details of the Island. For example the Megalania looks like it might be a good addition to my little caving team.
I had found a random megalosaurus at night in Vikings bay when I first started playing, and somehow tamed it, so seeing it brought back memories that I forgot I had
How come arthropleura and kentros do reflect damage when alive. But not after you kill them? Does the arthro’s blood just lose its acidity? Do the kentro’s spikes just get nullified?
@@sSuper3roryt but you can drop a kentro from a great height, throw it into lava and have a giga bite into it. But as long as it has 1hp, the spikes will be perfectly fine somehow.
@@RUGER5264 hmmm Maybe it’s has something to do with the kentro Actually control it or it’s like a defensive mechanism Or something or I’m maybe not cooking
I would care more about this if i could actually join servers, and if this game didnt feel so innactive. I cant explain it iust feels like a 'fever dream'. Like ark died in october and this is a post mortem spasm

Cool
Thanks, you guys make the videos more entertaining.
The caves are probably the most dangerous place in Ark. Along with the swamp. And the redwoods. And the snow biome. And a lot of other places really…
I will always fear the swamp and its cave above any and all others on The Island.

Amazingly well-done and so fun to watch, great job Ned! All those hours paid off!
Cheers :)
anyone else catch the minecraft villager sound? I find that funny for no reason. Really enjoy it when the lore of a good story is taken so seriously.
I did too thats why i went to the comments to see if anyone else heard that lol
0:44-She guessed right.
Loved this as much as the other videos of the story based off the notes you've done!!

How come arthropleura and kentros do reflect damage when alive. But not after you kill them? Does the arthro’s blood just lose its acidity? Do the kentro’s spikes just get nullified?
It's because Ark is a video game.
@@Bagelgeuse But should Ark have some logi- I can’t even say that with a straight face 😂
The arthropleura blood gets less reactive?
The kentro spikes gets broken

The onyc can walk on land now didn't know that
I like the megalosaurus part
No one can erase the fear of a 150 meg falling on my face 😂
Always remember to bring your Meg
Are you planning to do the same with rockwell? Or some different main character? Hopefully!
Am I the only one that heard the Minecraft villager noise at 3:42
Better get the swim trunks on looks like we’re swimming next time
How do you play without ur save getting deleted?
im still trying to figure that one out myself
Nobody knows...
I can't play asa is there issues with saves or something I take it it's a single player thing
I turned down dino spawn to .75 on my map, then dino wipe only once, then I use the game save command, on single player.
Is it just me, or was there a Minecraft villager noise there? 3:42
3:41
Haha minecraft ark villager survivor go

Can you make the boss one?
3:42 Villager noises in ark?!?!
WAIT WHAT ONYCS CAN LAND NOW!?

Being ignored by other Dinosaurs is a glitch?
What lol
