My knowledge of him and his personality only comes from interviews, watching him perform etc. but he always comes across as a humble, genuine, and a good person. I remember seeing him in concert, performing while doing his stroll up and down the aisles. Every time he came across a child in the audience, he would stop and give them a little extra attention. That said a lot to me about his character. I'm a little bit jealous of you, getting to frequently be around Buddy Guy. He's a true musical legend.
God, please don't let it be this mans last concert!! Who can stop time..........none of us. Hendrix sat as he feat with a tape recorder. Clapton said he was the greatest guitar player alive, he played with SRV on his last concert.... 88 years old, and crushing it. I didn't get to see Muddy or Mr. Wolf, but I did get to see Buddy Guy. Thank you Buddy for being one of the most exciting blues guitar players to ever live.

I come from the Central African Republic. I am now 68 years old. In 1967, Junior Wells and his band toured Africa, stopping off in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic. I was too young to attend and my father went alone. To our great surprise, he came home accompanied by Junior Wells, who was accompanied by his guitarist. This guitarist, discovering that I was learning to play the guitar, taught me a few blues chords. I've never forgotten those chords. I only found out years later that it was Buddy Guy.
A huge if not the greatest living legend amongst us. At 88 he delivers a breath taking performance....amazing. God bless you Buddy....you still have a lot to give...thanks for inspiring and fostering values of the highest emotional level imaginable with modesty passion and the pureness of a child...thank you thank you thank you!

Buddy Guy was #1 on my bucket list of musicians I wanted to see in concert. I got lucky a few years ago and got to see him. I was broke, didn't even know he was in town, and out of the blue, my cousin called me and told me someone had given him a pair of tickets to see Jonny Lang and asked me if I wanted to go.with him. He said he's opening for that fella you've mentioned a few times, Buddy Guy.. My cousin, who's forty years younger than me, had never heard any of Buddy's music. Of course I went to the show. Lang put on a great show, complete with a light show etc. Cuz said, I don't think Buddy's gonna be able to top that. I laughed and said, just wait, Buddy is gonna smoke Jonny's drawers.😄 And of course he did. Blew my cousins mind when he strolled through the audience while performing a song. We had seats beside the aisle so he walked right by us. My cousin still talks about that show to this day.
He was one of the biggest inspirations for my whole music life - to see him perform like this at the age of 88 makes me reverent and very grateful! Thank you so much Buddy Guy!!

I remember being maybe 18 and I bought an album on a whim “sweet tea” It changed the way I listened to music I had never heard of you before but you quickly became one of my all time favourites I had the good fortune to see you many times live due to your constant touring Thank you so much for your music and for helping keep the blues alive We will miss you Buddy Enjoy your retirement You’ve earned it
I met him there once also. I bought some things at the gift counter and went to the bar to get a beer. He was sitting there and I asked if he was Buddy Guy. He said sit down , the beer was on him. We talked for maybe 10 minutes , uninterrupted. And I got his autograph . Very down to earth .
First time I saw Buddy Guy was inside a hockey rink in Providence, RI. The ticket was $12.50. I got see him 6 more times over the years. Always a great showman and he played LOUD!
Been fortunate enough to see him quite a bit. But went to Hot Springs & seen him on his farewell Tour. Always Great!!! Wish i could make it to Legends in Chicago sometime.
i went to one of his "last shows" last yr and he's still going... i got to see him for decades in his prime in small bars and very intimate settings,, so glad he got the deserved recognition that brought him to bigger venues but those shows in the bars were something else...thank you Buddy.

I seen him do this 5 years ago. I saw him live twice in 5 months in Ontario Canada. I was leaning on the stage,mosh pit and he leaned down & signed his photo I brought with me. He is as funny as talented.
Caught him back in the day at a little club in Northern Virginia, just outside of DC. All of the classic showmanship stuff was great - including walking down a row of tables while on top of them and turning his Strat's volume totally off so the audience had to be completely silent to hear it being played unamplified. The best part was when he went into a ripping solo and walked out of the door to play in the middle of the intersection. He came back in, walked up to the bar where I was standing, nodded to the barkeep, got a glass of ice and an open bottle of beer, filled the glass halfway with the beer, put the bottle down, drained the glass, put it down, and headed back to the stage the whole playing blizzard of noted with just the left hand. I grabbed the still half full bottle of beer and knocked it back.
Saw Buddy twice at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, right around the corner from where I live. Such an entertaining Bluesman, with all his stories of past greats and his amazing performance. Its a small venue and he came into the audience and was within three feet of me… got some great video footage! He is the elder statesman for the blues now…long live Buddy Guy!❤️
Yeah it's a great gig. I worked as a bellman and chauffer through college. I'm 61 and looking at my retirement and that's my favorite part of my career. There's a part of me that wishes I would have done that for the last 40 years. I drove a bunch of the old Vegas stars. Engelbert, Tom Jones, Buddy Hackett 😅😅😅and the Top of the list George Thorogood.😎😁😎 However, as Mick said Buddy M****f****n Guy!!! You hit the jackpot my friend . Cherish it 😊❤😊
damn, he sounds amazing at 88, i can say with pride i've seen muddy, bb, and buddy. buddy is a LEGEND, the most influential performer/guitarist of the 60's/70's rock generation. all that great "classic rock" you hear still being played everywhere? buddy is one of the biggest influences of that whole generation of musicians.
Met Buddy and hung out backstage with him after a Detroit show 30 years ago. He loved his Cognac and telling stories. Was winter time he walked out the front door on to Woodward avenue and did a guitar solo it was unforgettable. A wonderful guy and genuine.
When I lived near Chicago, I used to go to his legends club and watch as he and Albert Collins go outside and play in the snow with a long cord in those days - and jam in the street - the below zero street

Was ECSTATIC to hear-see this "Damn Right FAREWELL TOUR" concert 7/12/24 on the Appalachian State University campus in Boone, NC! BUDDY and sidemen were POSITIVELY PHENOMENAL !!! Probably the only place to get a BUDDY GUY concert in the future will be @ his Chicago blues club. Thanks again for posting this part of the concert...was probably 90 straight minutes.

Nick Charles was on bs, Pete Allen on 2nd, Marty Binder (UK) on dms. 2 sets, audience went savo-ecstatic ...went backstage and talked w him bout Jimi, Janis, JDM ..others ; he said :" They all lived their lives 2 fast, such a shame, talented folks..." Buddy sure didn t. Can t buy this is his big-stage swan song. He ll die w his bootz on... that are made 4 dancing ...both in the ghetto streets & in blues heaven-haven ..What a wonderful life in this crummy, greed-ridden, wartorn peel of a world ... !!! 🇫🇮
Being in Sydney Australia I only got to see him once at the State Theatre in Sydney. That was about 35 years ago, and I still count it as the best blues gig I've ever attended. Then in 1999 I was lucky enough to of met Buddy at Legends in Chicago. I was that starstruck all I could do was tell him that he had a nice club and could he please sign my t shirt 😂 And then many years later I read his excellent autobiography and he likes nothing better than speaking to fans. Aah well.
I saw Buddy Guy once on the Experience Hendrix in tour in Memphis. There were many guitars on stage that night, but I can still remember his VOICE. He did a tremolo thing with it. I was 20.
When Buddy gave a concert in my area about 20 yrs ago and walked among the audience, I was in the front row and gave him a pin that said I love the night life. He was still hot at age 70.

Mr. Buddy inspired my love of Blues to new place. Fla Boy reset in Baton Rouge with a love of raw oysters and Blues music, Buddy gets the nod.

We saw his band open for 10 Years After at the Kinetic Playground in late 1968 ( Chicago USA). Still an outstanding memory to this day. $ 5 .

Was ECSTATIC to hear-see this "Damn Right FAREWELL TOUR" concert 7/12/24 on the Appalachian State University campus in Boone, NC! BUDDY and sidemen were POSITIVELY PHENOMENAL !!! Probably the only place to get a BUDDY GUY concert in the future will be @ his Chicago blues club. Thanks again for posting this part of the concert...was probably 90 straight minutes.
I was blessed enough to see him and BB king live.. at a concert a couple of days before 9/11, where they cancelled shows.. and as much as the word legend gets wrecklessly throwns around.. they are 2 TRUE LEGENDS

Beautiful old wooden pavillion on a small lakeside peninsula, inside a midsize city, veiled by freshly-blossomed young and old birch trees in their glissful prime, soft but bright spring evening sunlight. . . 1st personal encounter w him ..and Jr. Still got the ticket and his auto to my name on JSP Breakin Out album cover. Nick Charles was on bs, Pete Allen on 2nd, Marty Binder (UK) on dms. 2 sets, audience went savo-ecstatic ...went backstage and talked w him bout Jimi, Janis, JDM ..others ; he said :" They all lived their lives 2 fast, such a shame, talented folks..."
Buddy sure didn t. Can t buy this is his big-stage swan song. He ll die w his bootz on... that are made 4 dancing ...both in the ghetto streets & in blues heaven-haven ..What a wonderful life in this crummy, greed-ridden, wartorn peel of a world ... !!! 🇫🇮

Being in Sydney Australia I only got to see him once at the State Theatre in Sydney. That was about 35 years ago, and I still count it as the best blues gig I've ever attended. Then in 1999 I was lucky enough to of met Buddy at Legends in Chicago. I was that starstruck all I could do was tell him that he had a nice club and could he please sign my t shirt 😂
And then many years later I read his excellent autobiography and he likes nothing better than speaking to fans. Aah well.

Wow I first saw him in 1988, when he was younger then I am now.
I saw Buddy Guy once on the Experience Hendrix in tour in Memphis. There were many guitars on stage that night, but I can still remember his VOICE. He did a tremolo thing with it. I was 20.
When Buddy gave a concert in my area about 20 yrs ago and walked among the audience, I was in the front row and gave him a pin that said I love the night life. He was still hot at age 70.

At 88 most people have trouble just getting up out of a chair and then there's folks like Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, George Thorogood, Billy Gibbons, EC who my Heroes who are all STILL Rocking'!
