Strat Sessions ft. Buddy Guy with Christone “Kingfish” Ingram | Year Of The Strat | Fender

Good to still have Buddy around.
He is doing us a great favor sticking around. #satisfaction
What's kingfish biggest influence? OB/CD
Hell, good to still have Chris around. Cause if he doesn’t get a gastric bypass or something. He ain’t long for this world.
He still comes to his club. We went during a blizzard one year and he was sipping on whiskey and sitting on vocals.
@shawnstarks1743 I didn't want to say it but he living on the edge....Big fella time to get it together
Since BB King died, Buddy is the only living ambassador of that old original era of the blues
Robert Cray is still kicking it old school
Taj is still out there too.
Maybe not the 'old' original, but certainly Kingfish is quite fabulous. indeed.
I love Robert Cray; saw him live last year. But he got his start in the 1980s, and is therefore not an OG like BB King or Buddy Guy, who were around when blues transitioned from acoustic Mississippi Delta style to the electric Chicago style. No disrespect to Cray--dude's amazing.
I always liked their friendly rivalry. Buddy sang, "I admit you're getting down there, but I'm down much deeper than you are." Shots fired!
87 years old. Buddy is still up there. RESPECT!
& killin' it, too! Passion for one's craft is life-giving!
May Kingfish have a long life like Buddy.
I’d love that too but, every time I see him I’m concerned about his health.
Ain’t no such thing as fat old people. Hope someone helps him. He has the money for the right foods. Needs to put in the work.
@@Dnell-tb1ydOh, don't remind me. 😔
Kingfish is the friggin man, and he carries the torch of the Blues with bosslike proficiency and power (he ain't the only guy, but he's pretty good). He'd be my inspiration if i could figure out how to play his stuff. Lol.
But he makes ME worried for him sometimes, and I have a bad habit of eating McDonald's like it's actually healthy. 😂
@@Dnell-tb1ydJust enjoy his music and STFU.
You think he doesn't know that ??
@@jacobmcvay123i've seen men from 60 to 80 who are obese explain that
Buddy & Kingfish ... man that's a righteous combo
Powerful Mojo my good man!
Truth. Truth. You know what else? Truth.
Long Live Buddy
I’m born and raised in Chicago, this man is the heart of the city!
Can't believe King Keto/BBC like Buddy Guy. I thought somebody was using your picture.💪🏽
😂 Chicago is a shit hole im sad to say.
I love Buddy and I love Chicago, there's no place in thy world look he Chicago but it's turned into a real shit hole I'm sad to say😢
@@auntjenifer7774How’s that? Wouldn’t you recommend to visit Chicago?
Damn right Brandon! 👏🏿
@@javiceres definitely visit Chicago! We loved it, can’t wait to be back
Nothing like 2 experts playing a clean sounding strats beautiful
Agreed 💯
When I look at buddy. I see the blues incarnate
Goodness his voice even better as he gets older.
It's impossible to put into words how much the Strat and Buddy have impacted my life. Blues is not so popular here in Moscow, but there are great enthusiasts, and I am among them. We live here somewhat in a parallel universe since we have never met our idols, but the power of music knows no bounds. and I am grateful to fate that in my distant childhood I fell ill with this thing called the blues! with great love from Russia no matter what
Glory to Ukraine
@@sergetymos4654 фак юкрейн
Love from France, Buddy.. we’re all connected
@@sergetymos4654Let’s talk about things like music that unites us leave war to the politicians and the warmongers.
God bless you, man, I was born and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi, the birthplace of Elvis Presley. It's cool that you dig the blues in Russia.
87 years still the blues.
The old generation and the new. Awesome to see two eras of blues play together. Buddy’s still got it!
87 years young. Buddy is a walking legend!
Man, he sang Hoochie Coochie Man with the spirit of Muddy Waters beside him.
Long glory to this gentleman.
What a Gentleman Mr.Guy. A humble and kind guitar giant. I can never listen to enough of his music. What a treasure!
And Kingfish is carrying on that tradition. What a phenom he is!
My son stood on that stage and jammed with Buddy during his annual January residency at Legends in Chicago this year, I am so thankful Buddy is still here, sharing the blues and inspiring young blues musicians, like the incredible Christone Kingfish Ingram, to keep the tradition alive. We’ll keeping sharing the Blues Buddy!
Thank you @fender for a great video
Buddy is the only Guy who ever made me laugh and feel the blues at the same time.
I can’t imagine how grateful Kingfisher must feel to be given the opportunity to be in the presence of one of the blues greats. He’s a lucky lad.
Blues will be in good hands. Passing of the torch right here.
There are not enough like buttons to express just how good this makes me feel.
Blues....is still so strong....such a rich fabric of society even today
I was fortunate to see this man back in the day and was once privileged to sit right up front in a bar downtown Austin, Tx watching the great Buddy Guy and it was incredible. GOD bless Buddy, an American treasure!
Blessed to still have Buddy with us. Legend!
Words can't describe how lucky we are to have this, and to still have Buddy with us. Legends at work, together in the same room. I grabbed a Buddy Guy Strat last year or so and I'm so glad I did.
Thanks very much for this, Fender, enjoyed it very much. It's made my afternoon over here in East Africa. Blues Music breaths life into life, Blues Music is life. A big round of applause for Buddy Guy and his generation of Blues Musicians, and a big round of applause too, for newer generation Blues Musicians such as Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 7th May 2024.
All the best to Buddy Guy- a true American original!
I am 54 and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago.
I am very lucky to say that I have seen Buddy play at least 20 times at his previous location as well as many other venues. Never once was a bad show. One time his mic wasn't working and after the second song he yelled to the crowd, tonight will be all instrumentals and you come back next Sunday for free. He drank a glass of cognac between every song and played the shit out of his strat!! My favorite experience was when I saw him and Junior do an acoustic set at Legends, they recorded it and it is Live at Legends 1989. I am pretty sure Junior was a little too drunk that night, he was in the wrong key on one song and couldn't find the right harp, but they were awesome!! Buddy and Junior Play the Blues is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Love you Buddy!!!
I am 62 from the south suburbs of Chicago. I had the privilege of being at Legends on the night Stevie Ray Vaughan visited the club back in 1985. The performance he and Buddy put on was truly exceptional, the best I have ever witnessed. They traded licks and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. I have had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Guy perform many times over the years, and from the first show I attended to the most recent one, he consistently delivers an outstanding performance to his audience.
Buddy's relic'd polkadot is gorgeous. You can tell he's played that for years
It is a custom shop polka dot over a three tone burst….sweet piece. You’ll notice the neck looks like it just came off the factory floor but the body is relic’d.
Buddy is a National treasure. Chris will be one one day. He is well on his way! Respect you both!!!!!
I was driving down Cicero Ave in Chicago. The lane merged from three lanes to two lanes. A guy almost hit me because he didn’t see the merge coming. He was in a blue Rolls Royce coupe. It was Buddy. He gave me a waive as to say sorry. I happened to be bringing home a new Martin guitar. Buddy saw it in the front seat and smiled….Glad to see your feeling better Mr. Guy.God Bless!
I wish the video didn’t end, Watching Kingfish playing next to Buddy reminds me of so many great players that stood next to Buddy and played, SRV, Albert Colins, Albert King, I am very proud of Kingfish
When Buddy started singing (Hoochie Coochie Man) I got immediately goose bumps. Then Kingfish even raised the bar.
God almighty, Buddy Guy is the realest sound of the blues. At least to me.
Gotta believe, that there's a real happy man, walking on this planet!!! Thanks Fender, for attending to our request!!! These stratcats, deserve this reverence, and show us why!!! Congrats!!
Big props to Buddy. That man made records with my "White Boy Blues Heroes". This guy 0:31 did more for the blues than you can poke a stick. He's still shaking it. Good for you Buddy. You won, man.
It's good to see younger blues. Players give legends like Buddy Guy their due respect.
I got the pleasure of seeing both of them at the Kenny Wayne Sheppard festival concert in Bethel NY last year one of my absolute favorite concerts I've ever been too so happy got to see both Buddy Guy and Cristone Kingfish Ingram
I own 2 stratocasters and will probably own a few more before I die. Long live the Blues!
Great to still see Buddy out, on tour, playing.....one of the guy that brought the electric guitar to the world of blues and eventually rock and roll...
Buddy is an absolute legend. I love my Buddy Strat.
Buddy’s voice is 🔥
It’s So Nice to see Buddy and Kingfish playing together 🎸🎸🔥🔥
It's always nice when some of your faves come together
That is pure poetry!
Music to our ears
Two different generations of blue players, but both a national treasures. Love listening to their music. Looking forward to seeing Buddy Guy on his last tour. If you are in Chicago, Buddy Guy's Legends is a must visit. Saw Albert Collins work over his tele there one night - a night to remember!!!!
Nothing will ever come close to the electric bluesmen who knew the source like Buddy, born on a cotton plantation hearing the remnants of slave chants
But i do love to hear ppl like Kingfish try to capture that spirit
Buddy Guy is kind enough to have Blues Jams at his club in Chicago. Some of my favorite memories was playing there on Mondays/ Wednesdays. People from around the world would travel there to watch or play on that stage! Thank You Buddy Guy! Thank you Greg Guy !
Buddy's expression in his voice is like fine wine
I still can’t realise how I’ve been able to play with both of them on main stages. I’m so thankful to you sir Buddy Guy thank you for inviting me on stage with you in Paris in 2018 and motivating me to continue guitar. And thank you so much, sir kingfish for doing the same two years ago ❤❤ love you and wish you the best
What an iconic set. the old and new generation of the Blues. I love it.
blues music and lyrics you cant get it any better than that.
Two masters that we're very lucky to have.
Musicianship is about many things, but the one thing beaming from these guys' faces is respect. Respect across the generations. Respect of the craft, of tradition, respect of what the other cat is doing. Who cares if they're selling some Strats in the process? Gotta respect the hustle, too.
A legend and one soon to be legend right there! Guys like Kingfish give me plenty of hope for the future of blues. Nothing like some strat single coils through a Hot Rod or Twin Reverb.
Buddy is passing the torch to a younger generation.
aint none, never been and never gonna be a cooler cat than Buddy!
All love from MOTOWN.
THIS IS SPECTACULAR
there's so much awesome here I'm shocked the damn walls didn't come tumbling down
Respect to both of you 🙏🏻💙
Many moons ago, South Carolina Festival - Stopped for Gas, Show across the Street for Free. Buddy and about 200ft of Guitar Cable....that area has never recovered from the Showmanship that evening. I saw and felt the Legend up close and personal....Liquid.
It's great to see the generations of blues getting this chance to do something like this together
Man the colour grade on this is sublime too
This video is pure gold. Thank you Fender, Buddy Guy and Kingfish Ingram.
1 bluesman legend & 1 future legend. Love this. 😎💙 Rip Muddy
Rememberin Stevie always hits
I may be another drop in a sea of guitarists, but this drop is grateful to this man, Mr. Buddy Guy, for both introducing me to the Blues and the guitar to play it. So, 4 Strats on the rack and a heap of inspiration from Mr. Guy, I'm in Blues heaven. Thank you Mr. Guy, and thank you Fender.
Oh that was wonderful. No backing band needed, just two great soulful musicians and their tools of choice.
A powerful demonstration how the Blues are bridging the gap between the generations.
Good to see Buddy Guy still killing it, good to see Kingfisher here as well.
The king and the crown prince
Nothing like the real deal playing a real deal. Often imitated but never duplicated.
Living legend with great company
The performance in the beginning is incredible
Pick that guitar up, give it the best you got, it'll give you the best that it's got. I love you, Buddy.
Words to live by
Buddy is my Hero , Kingfish is a Blues Hero too 🇮🇹
Buddy guy and KINGFISHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Buddy's style is one of my favorites.. the man had such a fun playful way of picking those strings... Im glad I got to see him last summer... And Kingfish, keep going brother. You're well on your way.
Mr. Ingram: what a great voice for singing the blues. Fantastic
Just recently saw Kingfish live! If there ever was a torch bearer man, he is it! Two legends ❤ in the building!
I hope I can hurry up and get my chops up so I can play with Buddy while he's still here. He's such a legend that he has legendary offspring (Shawnna).
I love both of these guys! Great artists! 70 years of awesome Strats! ❤
I can't believe I'm alive to watch this video. Long live the blues!
I'm thankful that my time alive has loosely coincided with the lives of three guitar players: Buddy Guy, David Gilmour, and Malcom Young. Buddy's music has been with me since my earliest days of listening to and appreciating music. When my friends were listening to Zeppelin, Kiss, & Black Sabbath, I was listening to Buddy. His album Sweet Tea is in my Top 5 favorites of all time.
.......I thank the Lord, for letting me stay a little longer....
Strat screaming forever ❤
I was blessed to see Buddy Guy with Jonny Lang at the Greek years ago. Chris Ingram and Samantha Fish are on my bucket list. 🎸
I'd like to personally thank everyone involved in making this video happen. Excellent!!👌👌👌 Greetings from Switzerland
Could not love this video more!! Wonderful to have a legend and an heir to the blues legacy together playing my favorite guitar! ❤🔥🎸
As attributed Stevie Ray Vaughn: “Nobody could play out of tune like Buddy Guy!” Magnificent!
Damn I’m glad I got to see buddy live!!
Buddy Guy is legend..amazing..true bluesman ..Kingfish is great and very talented and he will be same legend as Mr. Guy one day ❤🎵🎸
Buddy foreverrrrrrrrrr
Buddy Guy - I just love that man so damn much! When I thinks of him playin’ I always think of Stevie because I know how close they was to each other. Real down home blues cats. Oh I miss them.
My guitars is my wife ....the sound of a dedication for music thanks for all!
I'm a strat-cat too! Rock on guys! 🎸🤟😊
Both their neck pickups are just too sweet and clean, that's how my Strats play and I wouldn't have em any other way... kudos Buddy and Kingfish!
Yeah but is you fretboard maple or rosewood ? Have a couple strats,ok more than a couple 😂 but the brightest one I've got is an old 20th anniversary Squier strat body with an old Japanese Squier neck with rosewood and it's the best sounding, playing and best looking strat I've got. Maybe the 500k pots make it bright or maybe it's the alnico 3 magnets !?
@auntjenifer7774 you'll find 500Ks in the Squiers and 250Ks in the Fender.
He looks amazing for 83
saw him at montreux last summer he was 86 yo, boy still killin' it
Driving on hwy yesterday and put on Buddy Guys blues singer .....i had to pull over as ifelt i need to pull over and let the song play
I love both of those cats... Can't wait to see Buddy headline Blues Fest in June.
Unreal players. Loved this
This is the coolest thing I've heard this year ......
