    I'm watching this because we weren't given proper instructions.
    Just showed once, & get reprimanded when we're wrong. NOT in curriculum/written either.
    I've watched 2 skills & have noticed things wrong with the way we're taught!
    We have to do them as the teacher says & in order.
    But she works individually with her favorite students,
    while we're lucky if we can even see what she is doing!
    THANKS VERY MUCH FOR THESE VIDEOS.
    I WILL NEED THEM TO LEARN TO DO THEM PROPERLY & TO PASS THE TEST!

      Hi, Angela! Thanks for your question! No, this step does not require the candidate to use a paper towel to turn off the faucet.
      The only skill that requires the use of a clean, dry paper towel to turn off the faucet is "Hand Hygiene".

    I will be taking my test this month. Do I need to perform the opening procedures first and verbalize washing my hands before I perform the task for denture care? Thank you so much for the videos. I feel like I am ready.

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Linda! Because you will verbalize "washing hands" after completing each skill, it is not necessary for you to do so before performing this skill, unless the NAE directs you to do so.
      I train my students to perform the opening procedures before each skill because it will be easier for them to transition from doing it this way to only doing it once.
      Good luck on your exam! Let me know how you do.

      @@emeraudeemeraude3emeraude148 Hi, Emeraude! I can understand where your instructor is coming from, as I use to tell my students the same until I started creating and producing my own videos.
      A lot of times, videos on TH-cam are not exact to a specific state's skills steps. And, a lot of times, the person performing in the video is not performing the skill correctly. So, I do understand why your instructor tells you not to watch videos on TH-cam!!!
      However, I train my students in the exact manner as I am demonstrating in my videos. For the past umpteen years, my students have and continue to receive a FIRST-TIME PASS on their state Nurse Aide Certification Exam.

      Thanks again for ur answer julie. I would like to explain myself clearly, the skills suppose to be the same way or it just to be well done depending of the instructor ? For example the skill of the knee and ankle i saw my instructor add some movements like abduction/extinction/flexion at the same moment of skill but you in one of ur video its just the one mouvement by touching the knee and ankle that is it, its why im saying that your skills here are so easy to remember for me, so i dont know if the law state recently have change some skills after ur video, i dont know if u get my point 😔😔😔

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@emeraudeemeraude3emeraude148 Hi, Emeraude! The NNAAP made changes to the CEP in March of 2018. These changes became effective in July of 2018.
      If you are referring to the Passive Range of Motion Skills (Provides PROM for One Shoulder and Provides PROM for One Knee & One Ankle), both of these skills require the candidate to perform 2 (two) exercises for each skill.
      For PROM for One Shoulder, you will perform the two exercises, Abduction & Adduction and Flexion & Extension. For PROM for One Knee & One Ankle, you will perform the two exercises, Flexion & Extension and Dorsiflexion & Plantarflexion.
      In both of my videos where I demonstrate these skills, I performed the 2 (two) exercises for each of these skills.
      Now, of course, I cannot comment on how or what your instructor is training you, because I am not there to see! You're best bet would be to study your Nurse Aide Candidate Handbook and practice performing the skills as such. If you were not given a candidate handbook by your training site or instructor, you may always download a handbook at www.PearsonVue.com
      My video demonstrations are based on Pearson Vue's Nurse Aide Candidate Handbook for the state of Texas. Hope I cleared things up for you!

    Hi Julie. For this skill and for hand hygiene skill, do I have to do the opening procedure for the client or can I go straight to performing the skill? Thank you! My exam is tomorrow and I’m binge watching your videos. They’re all very helpful.

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Yankee! Thank you and good luck on your exam!
      It really all depends on what the NAE instructs you to do. He or she may have you to address the client and introduce yourself once before the first bedside skill or they may instruct you to do this before each individual bedside skill. So, you really have to go by what the NAE instructs you to do.
      You may want to watch my videos on transitioning from one skill to the next during testing. Viewing them may be of help to you.
      Let me know how you do on your exam. What state will you be testing in?

    Ms.julie,I failed my skills a week ago. I'm retaking it on January 19th. I hope I pass for the second try. I've been practicing a lot (everyday all 22 skills) i was so nervous and forgot to check the lock of the wheels of the bed. I vebalized it but didn't realize that it wasn't locked. That's a big No No...
    Hand washing
    weight measurement
    Bed bath
    Donning the gown and gloves
    Stocking.
    I guess I'm not prepared yet and got nervous the whole entire test.
    I'm re reading my booklet and books to get familiar with the steps. Then I watched cna videos over and over. Do you suggest to practice the actual skills over and over?I kind of what to familiarize with the steps first since I know all the supplies that I need for each skills.
    I work full time and practicing at work on my break time . I made my self a mannequin made of old blankets and protective pads and put them all together with a duck tape lol. I want to pass so badly.😭

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Grace! Sorry to hear about your Skills Exam results. Yes, not checking and/or locking the bed brakes is a huge "SAFETY" issue. You can't simulate anything! You must actually do it!
      Yes, the more hands-on practice you can accomplish, the better. Just don't stress yourself out. Take a break...a day or two...from practicing and reviewing. You'll do fine the second time around.

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Nijera! Sorry for responding so late. In a real life situation, I would most likely use a cloth towel to line the sink,. Because dentures can be easily cracked or broken, the cloth towel will add more cushion and padding if the dentures were to slip out of the person's hands.

      It sounds like your instructor is teaching you how to perform this task in real life, not for testing.
