      someone can't bring you a can of electricity when you run out. they CAN bring you a can of gas. plus, you aren't waiting 8 hours on your road trip to fill up on a hybrid compared to an electric.

    Great video Ben. Just traded in my 2021 4xe (Stingray) for a ‘22 4xe High Altitude. Daily drive allows me to fully utilize electric mode. Averages 26 miles on full charge and I haven’t filled my tank in a couple months.

      That’s awesome, bro. In maybe seven years you will have broken even on the gas savings. Nice.

      @@freddy4130 ordinarily you’d be spot on. I actually pulled $4 grand in trade equity due to strong resale and tax credit. If those two factors weren’t in play, I would never recoup on any gas savings and EV would make no sense at all.

    The gas engine does not exactly charge the battery, it can add some charge, but you would probably empty a full tank and not get any meaningful charge that's useful.
    The only way to charge that battery for pure EV driving is by plugging it in

    • @bxallstar718
      @bxallstar718 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s because it’s not a big battery like the ones in Tesla’s. The Tesla’s battery is the entire floor, the Jeeps battery takes up a small section under the rear seat. For what it is 21 miles is still impressive given how small the battery is all while running high power consuming items like heat or ac.

    Have almost the exact same 4xe and the gas mileage is not what is represented. I have charged mine for very day and know it’s only gonna go 20-23 miles in battery. My average fuel economy is 15.4 and that’s also on the highway. Just saying.

  • @cknight4281
    @cknight4281 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Its not 28.3 mpg though, when the battery is down it runs as a hybrid and the fuel economy is worse then the regular wrangler because of the extra mass from the battery pack. 20 miles is short range, unless you can charge at work.

    It would be worth it if it wasn’t $12K more than the same gas wrangler. As it stands, you’d need to drive on only electric for close to 8 years to make up the difference. Seems like an expensive virtue signal.

    • @JoshuaYates66
      @JoshuaYates66 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      4xe has 375hp / 470pf of instant torque. Much more than the 2L or 3.6L. You would need to option the 392 V8 for those kind of numbers, it’s $20k less than the 392. 4xe has a $7500 tax rebate also, which helps offset that cost. Wranglers are by no means energy efficient, so as a “virtue signal” it would be a huge fail. I don’t think that is a factor in peoples decisions to purchase

      @@hardys1977 well, when you pay $12K because you think you’re not using fossil fuels. But that’s a perfectly reasonable question if you don’t know where electricity comes from.
