Can we talk about what MPGE is? You mentioned 49MPGE in the same sentence as you were talking about the gas engine. MPGE is not MPG. It's a rating that applies only to electric propulsion. It's a super confusing rating that doesn't actually have anything to do with fuel consumption. If you pause at the 5:41 mark and look at the sticker where it has the big 49 figure, next to that you can see that the formula has a big 0 next to fuel consumed. I'm not trying to harsh your gig but there have been a lot of videos that convince people that they are going to get 49MPG out of the Wrangler 4XE when 49MPGE only applies to when it operates in electric only.
This applies to the hybrid, it is also combined it is not highway or city it’s combined. Which means all driving mixed you can get up to this. MPG means miles per gallon on gas only, MPGE means miles per gallon-equivalent, to compare the amount of energy consumed by vehicles using alternative fuels to those of gas-powered engines. Which was established in 2010 by the Environmental Protection Agency (epa). When you use gas only the combined MPG is 20, this is highway and city mixed. Charging rate vary but on average around .23-.35 cents per kWh which is about 3-19. So times the cents by 3-19 on a level 2 charge at 2-3 hours would cost about .75 cents to 6.65$ for a total output on full electric mode around 21 miles or 49 Mpge combined.
