This makes me want to relive thanksgiving this year😍 I first tried the tofurkey 7 years ago and it’s our go-to. My partner likes it so much we don’t branch out from it and I’m ok with that. My parents had the Trader Joe’s roast this year and I loved it (it looks similar to the gardein roast).
We had both the gardein cutlets and the tofurky celebration roast. Loved them both but the gravy for the gardein was the best. the gardein cutlets I could eat year round if it was available lol
I LOVE the Gardein roast but I also love to make mushroom Wellington as a main dish for fancy dinner parties 😋😋😋 I really loved this taste test! I haven’t tried the Gardein cutlets yet but I’m making mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli for dinner tonight and I think I’ll pick those up to go with it!!!
Tofurky is one of my favorites but I agree that it tastes just like their deli slices which isn't really appropriate for a holiday roast. It also doesn't look appealing to non-vegans lol. I happily ate my Tofurky on Thanksgiving but none of the non-vegans would touch it because of how it looked! For Christmas, I want to try one of the Field Roast ones.

My friend who has only been vegetarian for a few months waited really last minute and could only find the Field Roast one (the classic one) and actually loved it so I found that interesting since you guys didn’t seem to care for it, but that’s all she tried. Does LA sell out like Cincinnati does? I’m in a FB group called vegan Cincinnati and people have threads trying to find them scouting them out lol- I knew to go early and had to stock up first of November. Everything has been sold out since week before thanksgiving.

Those roasts sound quite nice! If they'll ever be available in my country I'll be sure to check them out. Until then, I make my own. I made a stuffed seitan wellington last year and it was appreciated by everyone (nonvegans too). And I like to make my chickpea and lentil loaf too, especially if I'm gonna bake it in muffin molds, like individual serving sizes for everyone to enjoy. And I'll have another seitan roast ready for this year too, just to have enough options. I love that you're making this taste test videos, it inspires me a lot! Also, it's nice to see how many options are there (and maybe ask the stores here to bring some too)

I used to always get the tofurkey. I like the idea of basting the tofurkey and actually controlling the taste by incorporating my own flavors. It doesn’t go over well with non vegans I have to say. Been eating it for ten years so mb that influences my thoughts. That said I got the celebration roast this year and garden last year. Very good options, Omni approved

I actually like the Tofurky gravy but I have learned a few tricks. I always serve it hot, add my favourite herbs and spices to it and it’s always a hit.
I bought the Field Roast Celebration Roast to bring to my non vegan family Thanksgiving and while the small piece I had was good, it tore my stomach up! It also gave my husband terrible gas! We both eat a whole foods vegan diet and these products are just to processed for me. (eg. vegan junk food)
I made the turkey loaf from "the gentle chef" a couple years ago. It as by far the best vegan turkey I have ever had since going vegan, great flavor and texture and the broth made the perfect gravy. Even though it was a little time consuming, it was worth it; however, making a "traditional" thanksgiving spread takes forever so I do not think the time should be used as a con for the vegan version...especially since there are so many PROS!!

The Field Roast Hazelnut Cranberry En Croute (the Puff Pastry one) has been my “Go-To” Holiday Roast for the past three years... I was never a big fan of the “traditional” turkey, so it doesn’t bother me that it’s not. I can’t be bothered to try anything else.

OMG! You are unbelievably hypercritical of these products. For me, the Tofurky roast is incredible. You just need to prepare it properly and make sure it is not over cooked and dried out. I recommend roasting it in a small self -basting roasting pan with a sweet basting glaze. It’s super delicious.
Wish plant-based products wouldnt put animal "meat" names on it.. like.. :( just reminds me that people torture, murder and then eat the carcass of a turkey. Just call it "seasonal/festive roast" no need to put "turkey" in there...
