Either Gardein Roast or Tofurky Roast. Plus mashed potatoes with Mayacamas Savory Herb Gravy, green beans with sliced almonds, rolls with Earth Balance spread, pumpkin or sweet potato pie (depends on which we can find that's Vegan) with non-dairy ice cream, possibly some cranberry sauce, and whatever else my wife or I think of between now and then. ;o)
Singleton here, invited to a traditional Thanksgiving where I would eat non-sausage stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, lots of salad, rolls, pumpkin pie, and gotta say, Toni and Paul are precious friends from HSUS.
Thanks for your review and all the kind words! We actually make our Hazelnut Cranberry Roast En Croute year-round, but most stores only order seasonally. Retailers typically order based on demand, so ask your local store manager to place an order if you're looking for a specific item.
This will be my first whole food plant based Thanksgiving this year so this will be a challenge, but here in CA we have a restaurant called Veggie Grill and they're having a special order for this special day.
I love Tofurky and it's super affordable compared to the others. Around Thanksgiving I can get it for about five dollars. This year it's Tofurky, mashed potatoes with onion gravy, cranberry orange sauce, roasted butternut squash, and I think I'll do peas and mushrooms.
You'd be welcome, of course! Last year I did a Mediterranean theme, (hummus, grape leaves, etc) so this year I am feeling more traditional. This makes my third vegetarian Thanksgiving and first vegan one!
Do you have a Sprouts in your area? I look for it in mid-November and it's usually 5.99. It's just the roast, not the "feast" that comes with the brownie, but it's got the stuffing in it, which is the really important part. I'm also in the Midwest which tends to be a cheaper part of the country, but I've never paid anywhere near 12 for it. One thing, you may have to dig for it a bit at Sprouts (or just ask for help.) They tend to feature the Gardein much more and Tofurky is shelved near the bottom and not immediately easy to see.
As a new vegan, I would love to see a taste test done by people who are not vegan. It would be great on these vegan taste test videos if you guys would invite non-vegan friends, let them eat and get their opinions without giving them your opinion first.
I like how you showed us s close up of how it looked sliced presented on a plate. You did s really good job describing the details of how it taste and the differences.
The Gardein Turkey Cutlets that come with gravy are my favorites to serve. I'm not big on filled roasts like these but my meat eating family LOVES the cutlets and I never have any complaints when I host a veg thanksgiving every year.
This was so helpful. I almost returned my tofurkey because I've heard the field roast beats tofurkey but to see all three of you have good things to say and it made it as a favorite I decided to keep it and try it. Thanks can't wait to see more from you guys.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, this will be my first Thanksgiving not eating meat and I was hoping to find some kind of substitute. Cant wait to try these.
I prefer Gardein, hands down, though I haven't tried the Field Roast yet and they look delicious. Not a fan of Tofurky though, nobody in my family likes it.
I tried Tofurkey a long time ago when I was first vegetarian. I am super interested in the encroute field roast and gardien. I will likely bring a lentil shepards pie to my family gathering.
This will be my first vegan holiday and I was planning on doing a veggie-based meal because imitation meats don’t thrill me, but these look amazing! Thanks for the video and your opinions, I think I’m going to try one of these!
I've seen on various local vegan online groups/comment feeds that people preferred Gardein over Tofurky! So the other three being picked first was surprising! I've yet to try any of those but I hope to. Maybe at Christmas (I'm Canadian and already had thanksgiving - which was a lot of stuffing, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies - which is all I wanted then!). Also the three of you seem like the most lovely people. ❤️
there are SO MANY things to eat for thanksgiving - even my omnivore parents don't really notice the lack of turkey. we have baked sweet potatoes, twice baked irish potatoes, biscuits, dressing, steamed green beans, cranberry sauce, 3 different salads and as many desserts. mmmmmm :)
And, of course, if you have access, the Turkey-less Stuffed Roast with Gravy from TJ's is amazing! It's rumored that Gardein makes the TJ roast, which sadly is only available during Thanksgiving. Something else about Gardein is that they have two products. One is a savory loaf that is divided in half and is in a plastic bag and the other is in a box. I've yet to have the plastic bag gardein product. As for Myoko's, the recipe for her amazing, unturkey can be found online. www.unturkey.org/2006/12/20/the-unturkey-recipe/
Thank you very much for this taste test!! Very useful and since I'll eat almost anything provided it isn't meat it's helpful to know what the flavors are.
I usually make a vegan Sheppard's pie to take to my family's Thanksgiving dinner, but this year I decided to try one of the vegan roasts and I was curious if have you tried the Trader Joe's Breaded Turkeyless Roast? I was just wondering what your thoughts were if you had.
Thank You for the comparison video. I do not like the taste or smell of meat so I find myself not buying these kind od products. I may try the first field Roast product since my son and his wife may want something close to turkey. I will be struggling with the cooking smell if it smells like turkey. Any suggestions? I was thinking about making more stuffed squash and rolled foods. Idk. Still in the process. Just trying to keep it simple. You all are great. I'm a new subscriber and glad that i found you.
@@Worldofvegan head to say I know one had cranberries in it so I would say that is a favorite. Our daughter is vegan and trying to get the parents on board,
I'm usually at my non-veg family's house for Thanksgiving but will probably be home this year and have been scouting around for main dish ideas. I haven't had Tofurkey in years since my mom made it for my then-veg brother and his gf, but we found it way too salty. Can anyone comment on whether it's still on the saltier side, and how the other roasts compare? TIA!
The Gardein roast is amazing. Even my carnivorous husband likes it. Not a fan of Tofurky. Love Field Roast sausage links. Might try Trader Joe's this season. Wish Beyond Meat has a turkey version. Their burgers a beyond amazing.
I am lucky enough to live in an area that has 4 (!) Native Food Cafe restaurants and one of them always hosts an all you can eat Thanksgiving Dinner. In addition to all of your favorite side dishes, they serve a philo dough wrapped Wellington roast that is AMAZING. Thanks so much for the fantastic review. I'm going to stock up on these seasonal roasts and try them at my convenience. Who said you can only eat these for the holidays? ; )
Thanks for making! I’m in SF, but there are Veggie Grills in the South Bay, so gonna try their TG special as well! Will let you know. PS - could you also do a vegan red wine review for the holidays?
Yum these look soo good! I'd love to try the en croute but it's $33 here so i probably wont. I've looked up some recipes to try myself though so I might do that :) Thanks for the video and happy thanksgiving!
Very well executed video! I was glad to see Paul! I’m so excited for my first vegan Thanksgiving! You’ve given me a lot of choices to think about. The jury is still out. Looking forward to trying the En Croute. Based on you all’s reactions and the Tofurkey.
:) I can't wait to hear what you end up doing for your Thanksgiving feast!! I have this feeling you'll be livestreaming it on Facebook and I'll be watching!!! Heheh
Maybe you could do a mayo taste test? Please include some “lite” versions. You guys don’t have to worry about calories, but many of us do. (90 cals per tbsp is pretty expensive calorically speaking.)
I wish I could find the Gardein one! I really don't care for the Fieldroast sausages. I just don't care for the grain taste. This will be my first holiday without Turkey! I'm a little stressed! Will just stick to the side dishes... thanks for the video..
World of Vegan Michelle. You're the best. You're always so helpful!! You're just like Vince Lia, you always go the extra mile ...!Hope I can find it... God bless you !! 👍🏻🌻❤️🌞
Whole Foods & Fred Meyer had it in their natural section. I totally agree about the Fieldroast. All their products have a spice or something in them that doesn’t sit well in my stomach. The Gardein is my favorite by far! Just bought one!
You're right, packaged foods definitely come with a number of preservatives. They're not meant to be eaten every day, but perhaps on special occasions. We like to share videos like this so that people who are eating meat might decide to try a vegan version instead. It's all about giving omnivores an option to choose a plant-based version that they might really like. The less meat people eat, the better it is for their health, the planet, and for the suffering of animals. I appreciate your comment, though! Thank you!
Michelle .. I have a question.. which non dairy milk would be better to make mashed potatoes with , Soy or Cashew? Thought I'd go to the expert!? Lol ❤️👍🏻. Thank you !!!
Either will work, I usually use soy. The main thing is to make sure you get unsweetened + unflavored so you don't wind up with sweet vanilla flavored mashed potatoes! 😆 I usually use keep some of the shelf stable WestSoy unflavored unsweetened soymilk in my pantry for any savory cooking dishes :) WestSoy has the cleanest ingredients of all!
World of Vegan ya I always buy unsweetened. I don't care for cane sugar in my milk. Cashew is my favorite! Thank you so much for answering my question!!! You're appreciated!! 👍🏻❤️
Aweee y’all should have tried out the Trader Joe’s version. I’m sure it’s private labeled by one of the brands here. My first time trying it this year.
She began making the unturkey at home and there is still a video from many many years ago with her making it. If people would like to make her unturkey at home. This is a taste test not an accessibility test.
What will you be eating for Thanksgiving? -Michelle :)
Gardein holiday roast! My favorite! 😍

Ben Faust I like Butterball Turkeys hands down. Also smoked ham from our local meat market is really good to.
Whatever I can kill before hand.
Thanks for your review and all the kind words! We actually make our Hazelnut Cranberry Roast En Croute year-round, but most stores only order seasonally. Retailers typically order based on demand, so ask your local store manager to place an order if you're looking for a specific item.
Field Roast Grain Meat Co. yay!!
So glad there are vegan alternatives for thanksgiving!
So many options now, it's an exciting time!! -Michelle :)
MayraDairyFree They are expensive and taste like shit. Go meat, dairy and leather industries
Great video! What an honor to make a cameo appearance in a Toni/Michelle production! 😊
Heheh. So much fun!! Thanks for being a part of it!! :)

How do you get it for $5? I've seen it online for $12-24!

I'm 10 years old and I'm vegan and I love it and I know what happens to the animals and I'm sorry for them really really sorry😫
You're awesome Michael! I too feel super sad for the animals; thank you for being so grown up and putting animals first!
Congratulations Michael! Its awesome that you care about the animals and the environment.

I'm all about that gardein holiday roast

What store did you purchase the Field Roast en croute from? I️ can’t find it anywhere.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, this will be my first Thanksgiving not eating meat and I was hoping to find some kind of substitute. Cant wait to try these.
Thanks for the taste test! And have a blessed & safe holiday season!
Really love your videos! Useful information and fun.
Thank you so much for this video. This is my first Thanksgiving as a vegan and now I know I have options!
Woooo, so exciting!!! Cheers!! -Michelle :)
Thanks for posting! I decided on using the Gardein Roast🧡
I prefer Gardein, hands down, though I haven't tried the Field Roast yet and they look delicious. Not a fan of Tofurky though, nobody in my family likes it.
Definitely try Field Roast if you can...soooo good! -Michelle :)
I'm definitely going to keep looking for it. The En Croute one looks sooo good!
ToBelongNowhere - Rachel I am a fan of Butterball Turkeys hands down
I tried Tofurkey a long time ago when I was first vegetarian. I am super interested in the encroute field roast and gardien. I will likely bring a lentil shepards pie to my family gathering.
We've only had the Trader Joe's and loved it. I also make a nut loaf for thanksgiving. Now, I know I can't lose with any of them.
I do pot pies for thanksgiving
And all the classic sides of course
Oooh, I LOVE that idea!!
Love this video
This will be my first vegan holiday and I was planning on doing a veggie-based meal because imitation meats don’t thrill me, but these look amazing! Thanks for the video and your opinions, I think I’m going to try one of these!
How healthy are those products ?

This Thanksgiving I adopted a turkey. I plan on making it a yearly Tradition.
I like the tofurky one and I like to mix the sauces and put it in the crock pot with mirepoix.
Oooh, I haven't tried making any of these in a crock pot-that's a great idea!

i got my first gardein holiday roast ..hopefully i like it as much as ya'll do!
Thank you very much for this taste test!! Very useful and since I'll eat almost anything provided it isn't meat it's helpful to know what the flavors are.
This could not have come at a better time. I just said to my bf l want to buy a vegan roast but didn't know which was the best!!
Oh my gosh, yay, how perfect!! Which one are you going to get? -Michelle
Enjoyed the video since this will be my first thanksgiving without turkey.
nice video, thank you. you guys are amazing.
Encroute turkey sounds amazing
I'm going to do a dry run on a lentil loaf this week and see if that would be a good main course for the vegetarian/vegans
I am curious to know if any of these are gluten free? I would think they are all a seitan type product....
Wow! What a wonderful video all around:)

Trader Joe also has a new breaded turkey-less stuffed roast gravy vegan product. Would you please do a taste test on it ? FYI it’s around $13.
Making me hungry, had some of these before very good
Which ones did you have? Did you have a favorite?

Wished you had also compared the Trader Joe's vegan turkey roast. It's very popular.
Inspire by your video I will try at least one of these. But probably two.
Are any of these also gluten free for a vegan with celiac? 🙂
Gardein is my favorite then tofurkey
Where did you find these products

There's a Veggie Grill in Walnut Creek too, next to Tender Greens and a few blocks from Lettuce.
I want some of that, getting hungry!!
Yum these look soo good! I'd love to try the en croute but it's $33 here so i probably wont. I've looked up some recipes to try myself though so I might do that :) Thanks for the video and happy thanksgiving!
WHOA that's expensive!! Mine was $20 at Sprouts which I thought was high. Happy thanksgiving!!
It's probably because I live in Australia and it's imported :/ It would equate to $25 USD but that's still high.
Thanks this helps a lot cause this is my first vegan Thanksgiving. I was going starting to worry about what to make. Judy
Happy first vegan thanksgiving!!! :)

Miyoko has a video on how to make your own un turkey. I really want to try it.
1:24 lol that noise tho
Trader Joes also makes one. It's a 7 out of 10. Had it last year. ;)
The Trader Joe's one is actually the Gardein just in the TJs package! Definitely give Field Roast a try if you can this year!!
World of Vegan Done! :)

I *think* they may have the Gardein roast at Target!

My first also ! I had to ask my whole foods to get it out from the back. For some reason they didn't have it on display.

Martha Luna they said in the comments that it's the gardein one with the TJs label
Mushroom seitan. It's the most center piecey, need a knife, feels like tradition to me, and I prefer to make everything I can.
We will be doing tofurkey :)
Gardein is the best! 👍🏼
Great video!! Sure wish Trader Joe's product could have been included. I'll just have to try it myself!
The trader joe's is actually the Gardein we featured, just with the TJ's label :)
tofurky is my favorite!
Should have tried with gravy.
Good idea for a video, but it's obnoxious that the sound doesn't sync up. Why.
Great Video ! I really like #fieldroast burgers so, I'm sure I would love there vegan turkey options. #vegan #plantbasedonabudget
Yes!! They are soooo good you must must try it!
please make a vid with y/our friend Miyoko aaha

Tofurkey!!!

Is Paul your hubby?
Paul is my boyfriend. :)
No gluten free so none for me 🤔
babsinny Nor for me. :-((
maremacd you know I never was a big turkey eater to start with.
Isn't tofu gluten free
Cute couple Toni and Paul!
Thank you!
It is pronounced Guardian.
I don't like the taste of meat or the smell of it anymore....But good choices for people new to veganism.
That Tofurkey“turkey” is probably the most disgusting thing I have ever put in my mouth. Ever.
The breaded ones are gross and taste like rubber
