The secret is to cook it over a low medium heat. You can tell their pan was way too hot here. You can’t fry it up like regular eggs. I’ve found that constantly working it on a low medium heat works best. Still, I only get about 4 servings per bottle.
How about a comparison between Gardein vs Quorn vs Morningstar vs Boca when it comes to "beef" crumbles, "chicken" patties, burgers etc. Also vegan cream cheese comparison.
The new quorn spicy vegan patty is amazing. I love the Amy’s California burger the most as it’s like a rice and whole food tasting hearty burger. Personally I find Boca too meaty and chewy... although I like their chick patties. Haven’t tied the new vegan Morningstar. Garden has a yummy chick patty as well. And their burgers are pretty good. I’m in love with their breakfast sausage the most!
If you mix some silken tofu with your pressed tofu (and all of the other ingredients) when making a tofu scramble, the texture is decidedly softer and more like scrambled eggs that haven’t been over-cooked, which was a common complaint I used to hear. The silken tofu also makes the “eggs” taste more like eggs and less tofu-like. Try it. I hope that it works for you!!
you should do a taste test like this but with non-vegans and see what their opinion is! but also, would be nice to see a burger comparison, cheeses, yogurts and "chicken wings" or "beef crumbles"
When I first became vegan all they had was bean burgers available and i could only get them from a store 40 min away. Times have deffinatly changed. I agree about new vegans being spoiled. Theres no reason not to be vegan. Theres a replacement for everything
While I agree to an extent, there is still definitely reasons some people may not be able to be vegan. Maybe people have tons of food allergies that limit what they can eat, to simple things like chicken. They get their protein primarily through mean and can’t eat many vegan things. They would eventually be starved of nutrients. Another reason would be health issues. I’ve known people that tried to do the vegan lifestyle and did it all properly with research and everything, but ended up falling ill and tired and having health issues until their doctor made them stop. And ANOTHER reason would be cost. It’s EXTREMELY expensive to be vegan and unfortunately, processed ordinary junk foods are cheapest. I come from a big and poor family and when we bought food it was usually a ton of 80% chicken sandwiches and hamburgers, huge cartons of eggs, and a giant bag of chicken that we stretched until the next month. Vegan foods just don’t come in huge cheap quantities like that. So be glad that you are easily able to be vegan and happy! Just don’t hate on others that may not be able to do the same

Going off the breakfast theme, I'd love to see a vegan bacon video. There are so many recipes and options on the market and I've had a hard time finding a really good one! This video weirdly read my mind! I've been craving eggs this week but haven't had them in over a year. Thanks for doing a review for some products I was looking at trying.
I hated the Just Egg at first because I didn’t season it either. My husband makes omelets with butter, salt, pepper and vegan cheese. It’s absolutely amazing!!! We also made omelets with mushrooms, spinach and white vegan cheese. I highly recommend!!
After going vegan a few months and then trying the vegan egg and adding black salt to my tofu scramble, I found that I don't reallly like eggs.🤷♀️ I just do plan tofu scramble with salt😁
@El LaPoint That would have been the smart conclusion to make lol I wanted to give then one more try. Since part of me being a picky eater was knowing that the products came from animals. I thought having vegan eggs may be different. But yeah no..I will happily never eat eggs again😁
Eggs were the last thing I gave up going vegan! Love that there's all these options now. I really wanna try that be leaf egg! Also looove your under cabinet lighting!!
If you don't have black salt, try my tofu scramble hack: Tumeric (of course,) and black pepper. Then Lowry's seasoning salt, garlic salt, and a little bit of paprika.
I enjoyed the flavor of the Just Egg but it definitely wasn’t life changing and it’s so expensive! I’ll have to try the BeLeaf fried egg, it looks so strange but awesome.
I see Just Egg $3.99/4.99 at Sprouts (FL) they often have it $1 off in the app too! I like a tofu scramble or Just Egg w/garlic, onion & kale! Thanks for the video!
“Just egg” has released a frozen egg patty (substitute) which is my favorite so far. I haven’t tried the liquid just eggs yet but I really never really like scrambled eggs in the past. But I love their frozen egg patty which is four in a box for $4.99 it’s very filling and tastes great not too eggy. I prefer to fry it in a pan with oil and sliced onion and peppers. With the “Beyond Meat” frozen veggie patty.
Hi! I used the just egg in an omelet. I used vegan butter in the pan then cooked it as an omelet. I added mushrooms, onion, and spinach. Topped with vegan cheese and it was pretty good!
I like to make scrambled polenta. I make the polenta and mix in nutritional yeast, kala namak, and turmeric. Then I pour it into a 9x13 pan so that it's fairly thin and stick it in the freezer until it's cooled. I slice it into small chunks and then add it to sauteed onions/veggies. It's really good and also dirt cheap.

Hey guys love the video! Just a loving critique here! I like that you guys are showing a first impression taste teste in this video , however I think it could be more thorough if you made some adjustments, like looking into how others prepare them and keeping it consistent and spicing all of them similarly so that its more of a fair shot! I dont think I would like any of those other than the seasoned imitation fried egg if they didnt have salt, pepper, and spices I would normally have eaten on an egg. Keep up the videos and amazing work and thanks for making an awesome informational video for us to enjoy (: Side note:The last one makes for amazing omelettes, especially if you blend it in a mixer instead of by hand!
Follow Your Heart first vegan egg scramble had algal flour and it caused many people gut issues. I loved it. It was so close to a real egg. Cooked similar to Just egg, but tasted really good.
This is the best video I have ever seen! I love that you gave price points as well as showed how to make them all. Egg-cellent video you guys!! :) I had NO idea about the Be Leaf egg so now of course I have to go buy some. We don't have a lot of vegan options here in Alaska. Also, I've made chickpea omelette but never scrambled eggs! Now to go binge your other videos. Love you both, so adorable!!
Omg I was WONDERING how this vegan restaurant I went to made the vegan fried eggs. They're that brand!! They're so good! Add them chopped up to fried rice, SO GOOD
You guys make really cool videos and these taste tests cover all the varieties. There are so many ways to make vegan substitutes, and it’s great to know which ones are worth trying for new comers 😊I’m excited to know that we could buy the premade vegan fried egg. I’ll order them and surprise my family! Thank you so much!
I had the Be Leaf vegan fried egg at a Filipino vegan restaurant as a part of a silog and it was amazing! I haven't been able to eat Filipino food in sooooo long since becoming vegan and that egg mixed with garlic fried rice and the mock meat tocino reminded me so much of the Filipino dishes I used to enjoy!
Love these comparison videos! Please do more. If you have tried The Vegg, they make an an egg yolk substitute that is indistinguishable from an actual egg yolk.
You must try Ackee! It is a fruit you can buy fresh or canned and it naturally has look and texture of cooked egg! Just add black salt, pepper, any season of choice and heat in pan. It is the best ever vegan scramble!
It would be nice if you could do this exact same test, but for baking!! Like which eggs work best in cakes, muffins, cookies etc (baked goods with different textures/ consistency)
Regarding the consistency of the chick pea scramble, I think it might benefit from a looser mix and longer cook time. There is a Gujarati (Indian) snack called khandvi that is made by cooking chick pea flour and water over the stove (sometimes using a pressure cooker), then spreading it in a thin layer to set and rolling it. The texture is eggy and very similar to tamagoyaki - Japanese rolled omelette.
My secret ingredient to my tofu scram is onions like yall did but then also added some salsa and water to the pan then pouring pressed extra firm tofu crumbles in and cooking it up with adobo and tumeric. So yummy
We found the vegan fried egg you both loved and the best vegan ham product (both made by Be Leaf) at our local Loving Hut. These products are really great! The egg tastes just like egg and the ham tastes like ham. With or without vegan cheese, together they make a totally believable breakfast sandwich.
I think you should give Just Egg another try. The cooking technique and seasoning is the key. Add a pinch or two of black salt, turn the heat down a little bit, and stir it around in the pan while cooking. It comes out being the closest I've found to real scrambled eggs. I use 4 tablespoons (1/2 cup) as opposed to 3 TBS to approximate 2 large eggs. It is pricey but it freezes well so I buy a lot on sale and freeze it. Also, in 2022 the price is half what was in 2018.
Thanks for this very thorough and comprehensive analysis and comparison of these five vegan egg substitutes. I've only tried the tofu scramble so far. Based on your recommendations, I can't wait to try the Be Leaf product when it comes to Canada.
Chickpea flour is great to make omelettes. Try it with asparagus or onions or whatever. The water you add is vital for the consistency : the more water, the fluffier. In addition, you can add a tiny amount of baking soda to chickpea flour and water, add a pinch of salt and mix it vigorously. You can cook it with a little oil or in a hot non-stick pan without oil. 🤗💖🙏😉😍😁😀😘
take the follow your heart, mix it up then add it into your tofu scramble then cook it and it's amazing. takes the tofu scramble up a notch like crazy and helps get more uses out of the follow your heart buy.
Chickpea flour is great for omelettes, try it with asparagus, onions and fresh coriander. If you put a little oil in the pan and cover the omelette with a lid, it gets a little crunchy then you can easily flip it over with the help of the lid. The more water you add to the chickpea flour the fluffier it gets so experiment... 😊😁😀☺️😉🤗💖🌞
The JUST egg is good - WITH black salt added. With that, it hits the nail on the head. But for $8 a bottle, it's pricy and won't be a staple in my fridge
Thank you for your honesty. I am very interested in going vegan at least for a couple of weeks. Kinda hard to do in the country I live in, but will definitely try it.

omg i bought the vegan egg from vegan essentials and it’s wild how it looks and tastes like egg! it does kinda taste a little rubbery but add ketchup and salt and it’s 👌👌
Thank you so much , this video was really helpful . I just purchased the liquid Just egg I haven’t used it yet , I will make the chickpea egg I have been wanting to make it as an omelette flipped half way stuffed with veggies and vegan nacho cheese sauce . Thank you
Thank you for doing this comparison. It's been 5yrs since this video has aired, can you do an updated version of egg substitutes for the newly Vegan's, please.🦋
Great video! Thanks for that. I learned a few things. I’ve been playing with moong dal (soaking it and then pureeing it with seasoning and making it it into a pancake/dosa type thing. I’ve been having fun with it. Doesn’t taste entirely like an egg but it’s just great being it’s own thing. We’ve been putting it inside toasted English muffins, etc. Such a healthy alternative to hens eggs. I still like me a tofu stir fry though.
I just bought Just Egg tonight to try it out.. going to scramble it up for Sunday breakfast with veggies and hash browns 😋 it doesn't suck being vegan 👍
ooooh I always make chickpea flour omelets but never use it as a scramble! I didn't really like the follow your heart egg. those fried eggs look so awesome I can't believe I haven't heard of those!! you guys are champs for eating all these egg substitutes
this DEF needs to be a theme! I LOVE IT! i dont think anyone else is doing it like this! like ONE product yes. this is a GIFT to us all!!!! btw we live for just egg but we do it up with lots of veggies. the follow your heart had us hysterical. we must have done it way wrong, was this weird mound of jiggly goo. i am waiting for temp to go down to by the be leaf egg. veganessentials warns about the shipping. plus shipping is quite costly BUT for an all vegan comp im down. just need to wait for winter :( *florida
a tip for the tofu thingy: Fry some cubed smoked tofu and add it ("bacon"), and in the end add some soft silken tofu ("not-yet-fnished eggwhite"). Makes a not so dry consistency
With the FYH egg, you have to whip it vigorously (or in a blender), and you get a much better/eggier texture. It's kind of a laborious process, but it's much better if you do, def better than Just Egg.
My husband and I really want to try the BeLeaf vegan egg. He really misses fried eggs with the yolk. I don’t know if we can get that in a store near us. I hope we can. I’ve tried the chickpea egg, they’re good. And of course the tofu scramble is always good. Thank you for the taste tests they’re helpful. :D
Yes, I have been plant based for two years. I personally enjoy the chickpea egg the most but Ido occasionally have tofu scrambleas well. Also, I've tried that 'Just Egg' product and found it to be a lot of hype, with a high price tag.
So glad I found this video, I have been wondering about some of these products. I've only made the tofu eggs but I will definately try two of the others. Thank you so much for the information.
Chickpea flour made excellent"egg" muffins stuffed with Daiya cheese onions garlic all that I froze them for quick grab n go breakfast. The just egg I found is best microwaved and I make quick breakfast sandwich with some gardein breakfast sausage. The fried egg was good I bought it before. Very very convincing.
I make a garbanzo omelette seasoned with garlic salt, nutritional yeast, white pepper, baking powder, turmeric, the eggy salt, a pinch of chili peppers, and a tbs of ground flax. You must oil the pan well. Then I sauté mushrooms,, onion, garlic, and spinach with a slice of vegan cheese torn up. Yum! This changes the garbanzo flavor to egg flavor.
I really wanted to try Be Leaf egg after this- there’s a vegan store in Denver called ‘Nooch’ and they had it. I tried it today on toast! Wow zeta! Very satisfying and reminiscent of a fried egg but also cleaner- I def like! Amazing what they can do these days!

I appreciated you mentioning the ingredients. I prefer clean and natural to lab good that includes unwanted ingredients..
Chris reminds me of David Boreanaz, but David circa late 90’s. He looks like Angel, but with tats and plugs 🧛🏻♂️🤘
I love how you guys add the price too 👌👌
Thanks for sharing. I'm plan based and I don't buy any processed food, frozen, cans food, love to do everything from the beginning.
🤗💖🙏😉😍😁😀😘
I used the Chickpea flour for Spanish Omelet but I added some lemon juice to improve the taste.
My mom used to love the follow your heart eggs, until they changed it to soy, she is allergic to soy and that changed really pissed her.
My favorite scramble go to is doing tofu scramble with the garbonzo flour mix. It gives a really good mix of textures.
take the follow your heart, mix it up then add it into your tofu scramble then cook it and it's amazing. takes the tofu scramble up a notch like crazy and helps get more uses out of the follow your heart buy.
I tried the chickpea scramble for breakfast and I loved ittt! ❤️❤️❤️
Great and helpful video! The Be Leaf egg is definitely my favorite 🤤. I like the Follow Your Heart egg mostly for fried rice.
It's only $3.94 at Walmart
Y'all did a great video... my favorite is the chickpea...I love to put fresh Spinach and vegan cheese, a sort of omelet type...super yummy!
just egg is delicious, season it and its like heaven
Thank you for your honesty. I am very interested in going vegan at least for a couple of weeks. Kinda hard to do in the country I live in, but will definitely try it.
Guys this is the first video I ever saw from you, more than a year ago before I became vegan. Coming back today cuz I've been vegan for a year and I'm trying more vegan eggs ^_^
Omg this is epic! My past egg loving self is shook hhahaha. I did an egg comparison but only btw a homemade vegan "fried egg" vs JUST.
omg i bought the vegan egg from vegan essentials and it’s wild how it looks and tastes like egg! it does kinda taste a little rubbery but add ketchup and salt and it’s 👌👌
Just Egg in Moline/Rock Island, IL is just $3.99 a bottle. Love the chickpea option since we try to avoid soy as women and girls.
The hampton creek just egg sucks as a scramble but is incredibleeeeee in omelet form. So good when it's not stirred around
I love using chickpea flour as an egg substitute. It makes great omelette and scramble 😋
I made Just U my recipe with Onions, Scotch Bonnet pepper, Culantro, Chives, Tomato, with Roasted Crush pepper flakes, salt to taste (Trinidad Flavor)
Thanks! Had not seen the chickpea version before. Will try that. Those fried eggs are crazy!
I LOVE tofu scramble!!! To me, it's completely perfect. However, now I MUST get my hands on that bizarre BeLeaf realistic fried egg!!! Amazing!!!!
ive done this with oatmeal, it tastes great and the consistancy is great. :)
Yes, definitely appreciate your taste tests! I bought the Gardein Holiday Roast because of your faux turkey review.
I really wanted to try Be Leaf egg after this- there’s a vegan store in Denver called ‘Nooch’ and they had it. I tried it today on toast! Wow zeta! Very satisfying and reminiscent of a fried egg but also cleaner- I def like! Amazing what they can do these days!
if you add onions and a few vegetables the scramble will taste super
That vegan fried egg looks wild!!!!
Saute veggies then add chickpea flour batter with some vegan cheese. Best ever. Taste and texture resembles a classic breakfast casserole.
which type of cheese?
@@JAMANIJAMANI, I use Daiya Cutting Board Collection mozzarella or cheddar.
You gotta try the scramblit egg! It’s so so so good and it’s made from pepitas. It is a little pricey but super clean ingredients and so egg like.
Thank you. Newly vegan. I loved the video and your vibe. Excellent video
Put the same amount of the chick pea flour to a acuafava it will make the trick
Thank you guys, great video, really informative🙂
