- Hey! Sugar gliders are amazingly awesome animals, but they require very specific needs. They are exotic animals that are often sold at high prices by mill breeders in the US. In this video, I confront one of these mill breeders and kindly ask him questions to show the world what harmful information he is putting out there. Of course, this is done with respect and kindness.

this is scary that people treat animals like this. this really upset me, and this guy should be shut down.

Artsy Animal Lover When the man flicked the glider and just ripped it out of the pouch, it made me mad. I’ve never hurt my gliders intentionally or hit them, and whenever I put them in pouches I don’t rip them out like that, if I want them to come out I’ll scrunch the pouch up and gently pull them forward, if they don’t want to come out, I’ll let them be for a second or put a treat to tempt them out.

He mentions getting them from Australia. If he is, he is illegally smuggling them out of the country. We don't import or export exotics, and it is illegal to do so. They are also illegal to keep in most states. I love how all these exotic animal mill people have the same stories

I don't think he meant that HE himself gets them from Australia and/or Singapore. I think he was referring to those places as places they originate from in general. Like in the wild. He didn't want to say that he bred them. And he didn't want to say where he actually gets them. He's clearly not someone organized, intelligent, or educated enough about them, to be running some illegal, import/exportation ring. He knew she was filming and he knew that she knew what she was talking about. He was really trying to play nice with her, and hold his tongue, so she wouldn't report him, or cause anyone to look further into his shady money making operation. He's not going to incriminate himself in any way on camera, in relation to how he is obtaining these animals. He's clearly not a criminal mastermind. Calm down! It's not that deep.. You're giving him way too much credit! 😄
Exactly. The only Australian sugar gliders in the USA are at zoos. The sugar gliders in the USA exotic pet trade all go back to paupa new guinea and a breeder in Indonesia
They're only illegal in a couple states bro. Alaska, California and Hawaii.
Legal with exceptions in Georgia, New Mexico and New York.

Hey guys. I actually confronted this glider mill breeding business again a few months ago. I filmed it again but what happened was much different from what happened in this video. They recognized me and things went downhill from there. Would you guys want to see it? I've been skeptical on whether or not I should upload it but I think I should. These people know they are doing something wrong.

The fact that this dude just ripped the sugar glider off of him and shoved her in the bag, rather than getting him to crawl on his hand and in the bag, made me sad. He kept saying, I think she's pregnant because she is bitting so much, but she was using it as self defense!!!!!
The fact that he's trying to sell a pregnant animal in the first place is just wrong, even if he had handled her correctly.

This pisses me off so much. I live in Australia in Melbourne and am lucky if I see wild sugar gliders. Herein Australia you need a wildlife licence to keep sugar gliders and can only buy hem from licenced breeders. The paper work you need to fill out keeps track of how many you have and if your are breeding them and if your licence expires, they will be confiscated unless you renew your licence.
I can't believe he can buy them and then sell them like that while giving out all that false information.

I'm so glad there are people like you that get proper information out!! I came very close to adopting a sugar glider because I was significantly misinformed about their level of care and their needs. I was doing my own research to better prepare myself and wow - am I glad I did! I'm not at a point in my life where I can properly provide for one. I hate to say it but I would have been a miserable home for a glider. I hope your flyers prevent any bad homes for gliders! I can't imagine how many people buy them on an impulse because of how cute they are.

The way he treated that poor sugar glider was DISGUSTING! I do not own any myself but I care for EVERY animal- especially the ones who are commonly kept as pets as they are most susceptible to improper care and abuse. You go girl, what you did takes a lot of guts!
Those poor gliders! I've got two myself but they not very common here in Germany and we only get Hobby breeders! I've made sure my linage of both gliders are different and they not related in any way because I'm going to breed with them... but mine have a huge cage and sooooo much love! OMG I'm still in shock from the way he treated that one little glider! I'm glad Germany is very strickt in that department! Small Hobby breeders ok but sugar mills are non existent here

Oh my goodness that man was so uneducated; his reaction when you mentioned the heat and strokes! 😨 I know virtually nothing about SG's but the one shown in the video looked like it had an unhealthy coat. The cages they were selling aren't suitable for any rodent to my knowledge, let alone a gliding animal! I can't believe their substandard diet; Vienna sausages?! This is the most inferior care I've seen from stands that transport SG's to fairs. I wonder why people choose SG's specifically to sell? I've never seen any other small animal sold as impulsive "buys". I'm interested in getting some in future but as I don't have the time or money right now I will hold off. Thanks for sharing this, it was rather entertaining and I hope to see more SG vids from you! (I'd set myself on fire to raise awareness for sugar gliders too 😂)

I have a ferret, and we ALWAYS make sure to have our events indoors, and have cold water on hand to cool them off. Unbelievable that people put our temperature standards on animals. The way he handles the Sugar Gliders literally gave me a heart attack. The fact he was complaining that they keep biting him is because these poor things are scared. I am literally a recent subscriber and I am glad you confront them about this. As well being really calm talking to them. I am glad you educated the public about them as well.

I’m getting some gliders tomorrow, but this will be my first time owning them and even I know more than him! If he raised them from being joeys, and he bonded with them then they wouldn’t bite all the time. He doesn’t even know how to hold them properly. They’re small and fragile so you shouldn’t grab from above, it can hurt them. You’re supposed to “scoop” from underneath. It’s crazy how cruel people can be. I can’t wait to get my babies though!

If I was there I would yell at him for flicking, flinging them around, being out there in the heat, and keeping them in small cages. I would be so angry. Great job indeed! I also wanted to confront pocket pets after I learned about them after rescuing my first one. I instantly searched for a reputable breeder for a buddy for her. Then I researched (pocket pets will tell you NOT to read other sources other than theirs?! There was no support online or by phone as they said there would be always be someone available for any concerns.... Wrong!! When I finally connected by phone (I’m persistent) the person barely spoke English. Bad outfit. If there comes a time that this were to happen in my area may I use your flyer? It’s very well done with the graphics and info. The large sugar glider is eye catching. Great job on the flyer as well and what an amazing way you handled yourself! I personally would have told him off after flicking the glider in the head!! But your way is much more productive. You showed great strength that I don’t know I could do the same. So, with your flyer in hand and not just stating information by my own opinions. I’ll gladly share your info and help shut down or bring to light the truth about Gliders. Thanks for sharing!

The way he handled the glider hurt so much
Sadly most people don't think what they are doing is wrong and just looking to make money and don't really view them as having feelings or wrong to improperly care for them which is so so sad. I'm glad to see other people willing to take a stand and to try to educate people who make impulse buys on pets like these. The exotic animal trade has gotten ridiculous in the past twenty years and there should be more regulations on selling them then you just having to be over 18. When I impulsively bought my iguana I was given every incorrect care info possible from Petco. Luckily I was a complete novice and knew enough to get me by and thoroughly researched him the very next day but if I hadn't he would've suffered slowly due to my ignorance and the pet stores. I always tell people to really thoroughly research ANY pet they want to get, even a dog or cat, before buying it and to never just buy a pet because it's cute
