    Hello Awesome Sugar Glider Mommy, I'm live in Killeen Tx US and I love your videos about your babies. I wanted to know where did you purchase your little bowls for your snacks.

      Unfortunately I live in Europe so I can't tell you where to find them in Texas, but they're just simple dishes you would use for sauce, like ketchup.

    So glad to see someone that properly cares for their gliders! Absolutley love your cage. I am getting a suggie for Christmas, and have a 6 foot tall cage, so I think it's plenty big. Do you have any tips for me as a soon to be owner? please reply

      Hi! Thank you!
      My first advice is to look into getting your suggie a partner as soon as possible, if you can't purchase two at once. They need company if you want them to thrive and be happy and I am sure you want exactly that. Many people say suggies bond with you better if they are alone and that is just not true. My first two were twin sisters, Daisy and Nala, and unfortunately their breeder didn't handle them at all before selling them to me so they were super wild. It took a lot of patience for us to form a close relationship and for them to not bite me every time I touched them. To this day they are still very independent and only want me to hold them on their own terms.
      If you have a male sugar glider, I strongly suggest you neuter it...males have a really strong smell. Also if you plan on keeping two males it would be best if you have them neutered because otherwise you risk fighting. If you keep a male and a female he might impregnate her and it might get out of hand really quick.
      Find a good vet near you and bring them to a vet after purchasing. A stool analysis will help the vet determine if they have any parasites that might put their health at risk.
      Have some money on the side for vet emergencies. I suggest saving at least a couple hundred $ for possible emergencies. Hopefully you will never have to use it, but it's better to be safe than sorry, I promise.
      Pick a good staple and purchase all of the vitamins you need and prepare the first batch before your new friend(s) arrive. Be aware that they might eat very little during the first couple days. Purchase some yummy treats for them.
      Make a glider kitchen (!!!) because suggies are super messy.
      I also suggest using a cage cover.
      I personally use fleece for the bottom of the cage instead of pellets. Super easy to clean, I just throw it in the washing machine with some baking soda instead of detergent and I don't have to carry big bags of pellets every couple weeks.
      Invest in a good wheel. In my opinion stealth wheels are the very best (and sooooo silent!) and worth every cent. Don't risk putting them in a wodent wheel or some hamster wheel, you risk their lives. I know many people say that's exaggerated, but all you need to do is google "sugar glider wodent wheel accident" and look at the pictures - beware, they are very graphic and very disturbing.
      Make sure the room you keep them in is not too hot, but not too cold either.
      Also...I know it's super tempting, but leave them on their own for their first couple days in their new environment.
      Put a couple pouches around the cage so that they can choose a nice spot for their naps. When you want to start holding them, take the pouch out of the cage and simply hold the pouch between your hands. After a couple days you can try to slowly put your hand inside of the pouch. They might nip/bite - don't pull away (otherwise they will learn than biting keeps you away). If you're lucky, the breeder has handled them well before selling them to you so it won't be as difficult. I personally love all of my gliders just the same, the more wild and the super tame ones and don't really care if they want to stay on me the whole day or just for 5 seconds. I play with them daily in the bathroom and they are not scared of me anymore, to me that is already enough. Just watching them play and snatch their treats from my hands is very relaxing. Whenever one of the girls decides to come to me and sleep inside my bra I just melt a little.
      A good tip is to never change your soap scent for the first couple months. Just use the same soap for your hands every single time. Pick a brand and a scent and stick with it. Make sure your sugie(s) has/(have) enough toys for entertainment. Barking might sound super cute and adorable at first, but don't encourage it. Don't go and give them treats if they wake you up in the middle of the night with their barking, otherwise they will learn they get treats when they bark and start doing it all the time! :-)
      Check out sugarglider.info/ for any information you might need. Feel free to comment whenever you have another question :-)

    • @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy
      @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I don't think that's going to be too interesting. I can show it in one of the vlogs when they are finally starting to grow. As long as you use good soil and only add natural fertilizers that will not harm the animals, then you're good to go. The dried petals I purchase from the pharmacy, they are used to make tea mixtures - organic too :-)

    Awesome video! My hands look like yours too hahaha. So do you buy these ingredients in bulk? Such as the dried fruits? I see this mix only takes a teaspoon or two of each item.

      I'm a big fan of dried fruit myself so I eat most of it. I just buy normal sized bags. whatever I find in the store that is unsweetened and organic :-)

      Must have missed your question when you posted, sorry. I just eyeball it! More of the stuff low in phosphorus, less ingredients high in phosphorus, like dried bananas or sunflower seeds.

    Hello! :) I really want a pair of gliders but I was wondering if you knew what fruits/veggies you can use for the HPW diet? I was on suggie.info and they said the original HPW diet can be low in calcium,and I don't want them getting sick cause of the wrong foods :(

      Check out the traffic light system from the SGS 2 diet: www.sugarglider.info/diet/international-diets/sgs2diet/ They are divided into categories from best (green) to worst (red).

    ok thank you one more question what kinds of flowers do you use?

    • @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy
      @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For feeding I give them lavender, roses, hibiscus, basil among others, for the mixes I just pick flowers or leaves that are safe to them...chamomile, hibiscus, roses, marigold are usually the ones I purchase dried :-)

  • @blanca357100
    @blanca357100 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dried hibiscus, Rose, Calendula, Chamomile Can these contents be take from a tea bag ?

    • @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy
      @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those might have traces from other unsafe flowers as well and are usually not so fresh. I recommend you purchase from an organic store/health store. In Europe you can purchase them in the pharmacy, they are used to prepare tea as well. Maybe try it out in your local pharmacy, see if they sell them?

      Temptations cat food :-) I have stopped letting them play with the Snacky Mouse unsupervised because some Sugar Gliders seem to be able to open the cap and stick their heads in there. So yes, they are great and I still use them but only supervised :-)

    Do you dry your stuff yourself or do you buy them dried?
    If you do it yourself: How do you dry them? Can you maybe make a video about it?
    If you buy them dried: Where do you find them without sugar and other food additives?
    :D

    • @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy
      @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried making them myself with a dehydrator but I didn't like the results. I purchase them now from organic food stores, it's difficult to find them without additives, I know...but organic food stores usually carry the healthiest choices. The dried flowers I purchase from the pharmacy.

    • @Trendniiq
      @Trendniiq 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found almost everything ind the store I work in (We both sell makeup, skincare, vitamins and stuff. And some teas and other organic food). We don't have them in my specific store, but we can order most of it home - which is lovely! I only need rose and dried papaya, and then I have everything you have in your Snacky Mouse, including the things in your dried flower-mix :D

    • @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy
      @AwesomeSugarGliderMommy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't worry if you're missing anything, I always change their mix depending on what I have on hand. The last mix doesn't have any dried flowers at all and they still like it just as much :-)

    • @astrangeone
      @astrangeone 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the dried flowers, you might be able to find them in Asian supermarkets in the loose "tea" section. I know I bought a bunch of rosebuds as tea then.

      They come with the Temptations cat food. You have to be cautious with the snacky mice. Some gliders are very adventurous and managed to open the top parts of the mice. I suggest you only use them under supervision, that is what I have been doing for a while now :-)
