- Alright, starting to really enjoy this game now!
Had an absolute blast making this video, using the insane 395bhp VW Polo GTi at the Sardegna Rally in Italy. This stage is seriously fun to drive but also very challenging.. the technical sections towards the end are especially tough to navigate!
I think once you get the settings in this game dialled in and start to get a proper feel for it, there's definitely a lot of fun to be had. It needs a bit of TLC in some places, but I can definitely see the potential here and it's got me excited for the future of this franchise.

Pretty normal maneuver in rally, to be honest. The run was great, but the 3rd person view is unplayable for me on such game.

It's tough using more than 540° rotation on the wheel in rally games well done

When I was a 14 year old I used to play Dirt Rally 1 with 180 degrees of rotation

540 degrees is what real rally cars have. But road cars will have higher.
You mean the game isn't unplayable? Doesn't look unplayable to me. Maybe some youtube gaming critics are little babies who need everything they've ever wanted on day one or they'll cry and say they're going to return the game for a refund. Great video. Seriously great driving.
Unless I just got really lucky (which I doubt as I just have a medium spec PC), the game definitively isn’t unplayable. Few stutters here and there but they are working on this just now and I have faith in Codemasters to fix everything. It was the same when DR2 launched, there were a few issues but they got everything resolved pretty quick! Thanks a lot man, really glad you enjoyed the video! 🤝

Yeah this game rocks! I’m playing on a PS5 and it looks and plays spectacular to me. Maybe a small stutter or screen tear once in a blue moon. I’m not sure how any game that came from previous WRC developer KT was acceptable for these people🤷🏻♂️. I found KT’s WRC title’s to be far more buggy! It’s like folks are holding Codemasters to a different standard simply because Dirt Rally 2 was polished.. DR2 was a fictional rally game based on Rally. Codemasters had no time constraints making DR2. They were able to break up stages, and remove any content that caused bugs. EA WRC contains substantially more content and surpasses everything I’ve played to date and will only get better with a few updates!
All games have bugs a few patches and it’ll be fine….just how gaming is nowadays.
Yeah no. The game is unplayable on PS5. It is well known that unreal engine has stuttering problems especially with racing games. The devs are suffering that issue because they abandoned the engine they built already

I once started rallying with Colin Mcrae Rally, last year I came back to gaming and Dirt 2.0, but didn´t like the feeling. Only played Assetto Corsa after that, then tested WRC generations, but that felt like crap after playing AC for so long. Gave this new WRC a chance yesterday, and It really made me hooked. It takes me back to Colin 1 and 2, those where the days ;)

By far my favourite car in the game. Had so much fun with it in Finland. This car would of been a true match for the yaris if it would not have pulled out.

It is consistent to drive and let's you concentrate on your driving instead of the hassle of the hybrid. Find the hybrid very annoying on the rally1 cars giving you those bad suprises kicking out the back in the corners. Plus the extra weight the hybrid adds. The polo wrc is a perfect upgrade to the good old r5 from dr2.@@Storm_RX
Problem with the physics in this game and the last one is that the torque drops off to almost zero after 2nd gear. You cant get any throttle oversteer going after 2nd gear, so holding a power-slide on longer, faster bends is impossible. I honestly think if they sorted that one thing out this game would be amazing. That one issue really holds the driving physics back. These modern WRC cars should have tons of torque in higher gears, not just 1st and 2nd.
Thats one of the reasons why RBR is still better than the Dirt Rally games in the physics department. You get torque all the way through the gear box.
I’ve noticed the same thing. Nobody else is saying this! Real rally cars have high low end power to drift endlessly if you want. This game cuts the power to cars after 1st gear so you can’t. My biggest gripe with the game! That’s why this video drives in the rain to get as much slide as possible.

Totally agree. Its like some kind of hidden traction control kicks in to help the driver maintain traction. What happens is that you end up with loads of understeer mid corner because you can power slide. Its done because they want this game to be fun and playable for the casual gamer.
If they fixed this issue the driving experience would be more realistic and more fun. As it is it completely puts me off bothering with the game.

Awesome skills mate, for anyone struggling on controller after coming from WRC generations like me I set the sensitivity to 63 and linearity to 0 seems to help me massively

nice vid, do u need a handbreaker to be competative, or can u just use the wheel keybind one ?
A real handbrake helps to add to the realism/immersion and is definitely a bit easier Id say, But you can definitely still be competitive just using a wheel binding. I used to actually use one of the flappy paddles at the back of the wheel as a handbrake and it worked great for me 👌

This was the stage that got me addicted to this game, I’ve been Iracing, ACC Comp, all the racing outfits and I could not even try a rally game on wheel I bought this game and now I’m Ken Block.

Compared to DR2, are the physics more challenging now or it's really identical? Looking from the video, it seems like I could still see the stiffness that comes with DR2's physics
Totally different
The physics are great in this game, I’d say they are more realistic than dr2 in my opinion and the FFB feels much better once you get your settings dialled in 👍 The cars have much more weight to them which makes the whole experience feel more realistic but also challenging in my humble opinion 🙂

Haha thanks man! It’s probably faster to take corners a bit more sensibly, but at least some of the handbrake turns in this run were necessary (unlike some of my videos) 😆

What s your graphics settings? Do you use dlss? Mine is washed out and blurry, can t get it to look like this.
Mostly set to high, with car reflections and mirrors set to medium. Yeah I’m using the DLSS quality setting 👍

No problem man, just to say I also lowered the in game brightness setting as it was too high for me at default. That helped a bit with washed out colours too

I'm in love with this Volkswagen too, so much more fun than the hybrids, also the roads in Italy are where it's at if you like a fun slippery surface.

My Good friend, you are the first person I found with the same wheel as me, Have you got a video on your settings or you you post them .... wheel rotation and ffb etc we have the exact same set up except my Handbrake is on then outside ... I am Richmond tech Seq Shiter mod too, but the handle looks the same ... great driving
For now I’ve dropped everything down to 45 apart from suspension and collision which I’ve kept at 90. I find the FFB to be really strong in this game which is great, but at the higher settings it can be a bit too much at times. I’m just using soft lock so that the wheel rotation matches what the car would be in real life. Obviously everyone will be different but hopefully this helps at least a bit 👍

Stage is called Bassacutena, in Italy 😁 The Subie would be perfect for this! I do love the Polo but not sure it’s my favourite, now that would be a tough choice! 😆

Hello !! Can you share the settings of FFB that you use? I have almost same base ( TM TX ( T300 ) and Sparco R383 wheel
I also have a T-LCM and a TH8 RS but thse are OK
For now I’ve dropped everything down to 45 apart from suspension and collision which I’ve kept at 90. I find the FFB to be really strong in this game which is great, but at the higher settings it becomes a bit too much at times. Obviously every wheel will feel different but hopefully this helps at least a bit 👍

What is your differential setting, every awd cars i try in this game feel like a fwd car (lot of understeer) when i want to do powerslide, i can't do driffting like you even if i try to set the rear differential more lock, in dirt rally 2 i was able to do it but im not figure how to adjust my car proprely in this game.
It was genuinely just default here man, I haven’t had time to dig deep into the setups yet. I could definitely feel that I needed to be way more aggressive to get the car sideways in this game compared to dr2, so some tweaking is still required I think! 🙂

@@Storm_RXFinally I found the problem, the problem came from my Fanatec handbrake, the games detected that my handbrake was still pressed a little which deactivated the rear differential of the AWD vehicles I was driving. I added a dead zone for detecting my handbrake and now everything works perfectly 🤟

I think most people will have a moment eventually where they realise how good it is, might just take a while and maybe a couple of the early patches will definitely help :)

Hey man. Wouldn’t say it’s easier personally. I do both chase cam and cockpit cam runs, but the chase cam runs tend to perform much better. I think for entertainment purposes, the majority of people prefer to watch chase cam runs, so I’d imagine that’s why most TH-camrs do videos in that view.

I did quite like Generations dude, but the throttle bug when using a wheel and pedals was too much of an issue for me to look past (no acceleration until about 3000rpm 😅). Will definitely do a run with the Xsara at some point, an iconic car! 😁

It’s actually the Polo 2017 WRC mate! But yeah the livery is sick, one of my favourites 🔥 The R5 is in the game too which is awesome!

Compared to Dirt 2.0 difficulty where would you put this?
I'm considering it but struggled with Dirt and the speed of car interpretation.....
for example at 2:23 where you hit that apex but are still travelling at 50mph +....to me it looks more like the cars travelling alot slower...if that makes sense,...
This might be a controversial opinion and maybe it’s because I’ve played DR2 more, but I would say this is equally difficult even though a lot of people are saying it’s way easier 😆 I think if you turn off all assists and use the more powerful cars, it is a real test! But of course to begin with you can make it easier to learn by using the slower cars with some assists activated 🙂

The game is near perfect!!! Codemasters just needs to make a small update!!!! Drops on framerate, and the dirt physics!! For example...you raced in wet gravel/mud and the car ended nearly clean!!! But like i said...near perfect!!!! Geat driving man!!! Keep it up!!!

I am definitely not done with Dirt Rally 2 man, it is still an incredible game and one I will always go back to 🤝 Just fun to have a new game and some new cars to test out just now! 😁

I’m not 100% convinced it is.. or if it is it’s not by much, this game is still really challenging when using the more powerful cars and with all assists turned off, it’s a lot of fun! 🙂
The car does not get dirty in any way ... and the brake discs do not turn red from the temperature when braking . Not attention to detail.
There are alot of details missing from this game that were present in older games. That’s why I’ve skipped this game. If only EA had integrity.

Well, if and when this game may go on sale at a very low price on STEAM, I may get it, and that is maybe. Also waiting to see if they add VR to the PC game. I have a few other Rally games, not into this kind of gaming, and a few of them have VR. if I have no other road racing going on, I may bring one of these games up to just do quick races on one or two routes.
Rally racing is very boring to me just to run a vehicle "alone/by myself" through the woods and see what times we can get. Who really cares, its a game.

I dont know much about LOVE ,but .....in what exactly you felt in love in this game ....maybe in the arcade physics ..so you can make this unrealistic slides..or in the crapy and old gen graphics ...pls explain !?
Not the best run. In many places it could have been better like in 3:30. Overall very good though.
