There’s even another continent, that land on the map to the southeast of Asshai is Ulthos and the small island off it is Ulos. Basically nothing is known about it, it’s inclusion in the story (along with the sheer distance Sothoryos stretches south into unmapped lands) is solely to show how little the people of Westeros and beyond know about their greater world
The whole Jon is Aegon Targaryen and the heir to the Iron Throne in the shows is just D&D combining Jon's and FAegons story line. It's highly doubtful that Jon's name is even Aegon and he is most definitely not the heir even if his parents are Rhaegar and Lyanna. Polygamy is forbidden in both the religion of Andals and First Men. Also Rhaegar and Elias marriage couldn't be annulled because they've already consummated their marriage and had 2 children.
The book he mentions The World of Ice and Fire is a book I recommend regardless of whether or not you ever read the novels. I originally was going to get the ebook, but when I flipped through that book in Barnes & Noble, I knew I had to buy the physical book. The artwork alone I feel is worth purchasing because you can fully appreciate the artwork that way. There's also a collected book with cool maps of Westeros & Essos. They even include a more detailed map of King's Landing. It's amazing to look at the Essos map and think about all the places Daenerys had to travel in her storyline! That girl literally traveled through half of Essos! That's another one I highly recommend getting whether or not you ever read the novels. You can at the very least appreciate where all these places are located when you watch the episodes. GRRM recently released Fire and Blood Volume 1. There's going to be a Volume 2. That's basically the history of House Targaryen starting with the Conquest of Westeros and the volume ends not long after The Dance of the Dragons. The Targaryen Civil War that started off with 20 dragons and ended with 4 dragons and a few scared kids left to restart the family with young King Aegon III. I imagine the second volume expands more into Aegon III's reign and will probably end with Robert's rebellion. Possibly includes Daenerys's adventures, but we'll see about that. On a side note, Aegon III is pretty interesting because one of his children is a daughter named Daena aka Daena the Defiant. She had an affair with her cousin, who later becomes King Aegon IV aka Aegon the Unworthy. She's the mother of the guy who is later known as Daemon Blackfyre, hence the start of the Blackfyre Rebellions, which you're now familiar with. Another notable kid of Aegon III is a son name Baelor. Baelor was a devout man of The Faith and was actually trained to be a septon when his elder brother King Daeron I died fighting in Dorne. The giant sept that Cersei blew up in episode 6x10 is the SEPT of BAELOR. During his reign, King Baelor wanted to build a huge cathedral in King's Landing.
Ah def hit up some Barristan stuff th-cam.com/video/y3U7oOag1Ow/w-d-xo.html This is a full character spotlight type video on Barristan. Rawrist, the TH-camr, has several GoT videos th-cam.com/video/6xjGQXBUMF4/w-d-xo.html This is a reading (or maybe summary) and discussion of, in my opinion, one of Barristan’s coolest fight scenes in the books
Even if you don't record it, you should really check out some Lucifer Means Lightbringer. His videos are long, but DAMN they are good. Especially if you have a working knowledge of world religions and mythology.

when you see a video like that, and then you think of the last GOT season... how underwhelming!
