You might want to add in a later video on this topic that the 22 paths you showed in the drawing are in the form used in modern Jewish Kabbalah, where a path is shown between Chokmah and Gevurah as well as a path between Binah and Chesed. This form of the paths is described in Cordoveran Kabbalah and is also called the "Tree of Return", as well as sometimes called by Isaac Luria as the "Safed Tree".
Another form of the paths is more popular in Hermetic Qabalah in which there is no path between Chokmah and Gevurah as well as no path between Binah and Chesed, and instead there is a path between Netzach and Malkuth as well as a path between Hod and Malkuth. This form of the paths was the one popularized by the Golden Dawn, and was also used by Moses Cordovero in his Pardes Rimonim (together with the previous form) and also called the "Tree of Emanation" (to distinguish it from the previous "Tree of Return").
These variation in paths placement stems from the variety in the different kabbalistic traditions which people followed. The same can be said on the inclusion of Kether in the ten sephiroth while excluding Da'ath, this form of the ten sephiroth being more popular in Cordoveran Kabbalah; versus the form with exclusion of Kether (ie. considered as unknowable) and instead inclusion of Da'ath in the ten sephiroth, which was popular in Lurianic Kabbalah. While in the Hermetic Qabalah and Christian Cabala, these tended to favor the Cordoveran tradition.
Nowadays you see people mixing and matching various aspects of the different kabbalistic traditions depending on what appeals to them or feels right to them.

Thank you very much for this, it's a point I completely omitted in my video, and I hope you won't mind my pinning it to the top of the comments here as it's quite an important point for any introduction to the Tree of Life.
Thank you very much for bringing it up!

Also, I hadn't heard of a form that omits Kether. Interesting!

@@FoolishFishBooks It's a variation that's found more in the Lurianic school, so more of a modern jewish kabbalah variation. For example, here's the young american Rabbi Yom Tov Glaser lecturing on the sephiroth: th-cam.com/video/Y1AH84vCoSo/w-d-xo.html , you'll notice he starts with Chokmah, Binah, Da'ath, Chesed, etc., rather than starting with Kether (and excluding Da'ath) as those more used to hermetic qabalah would be familiar with. I think western occultists tend to be more exposed to hermetic qabalah rather than Lurianic kabbalah which might explain why the no-Kether variation is not widespread in western occultism.

@@xenoaltrax485 Yes! I'm looking forward to "The Thirty-Two Keys" by David Chaim Smith due out this Summer that explores three different approaches (including the Lurianic) and combines them into one through a practice.
      I'm very curious.

@@EsotericMysticPortal93 Yes it is, and I think the hermetic version is the one most western occultists would be exposed to. It does take it's jewish influences mainly from the Cordoveran school (and then adds a lot of other input from other traditions, eg. Egyptian, etc.). While what is now popularized as modern Jewish Kabbalah is more influenced by the Lurianic tradition.
By the way, I enjoy watching your videos as well, even though I'm not into tarot I do watch your book review videos.

It’s fascinating how many religions and practices use this everything’s connected. Hermeticism, judaism, Buddhism, witchcraft, astrology, magick, etc... many spiritual practices include the same symbolism. And it’s awesome to go down the rabbit hole and learn everything

For sure! I suppose it's like road maps. If two companies produce their own maps, they may not use the same colour codes, and one company might not consider this dirt path a "road" while the other does, but ultimately, the similarities should be evident.
The same should probably apply with maps of life 😄

I like to think of it in this way: All of these different traditions and philosophies emerged from the Sefirot, not the other way around. Within these different traditions we see similar symbols, teachings and principles. As above, so below. If this were like a blueprint, then you would have slightly different views from different rooms within the same building but much of what you see will be very similar.

Geburah and Chesed (discipline and mercy) and Hod and Netzach (intellect and emotion) balance one another. Binah and Chokmah are akin to yin and yang. The right pillar (Chokmah, Chesed, and Netzach) is about expansion and growth and the left pillar (Binah, Geburah and Hod) restricts. Whatever is good or bad depends on the context. You wouldn't want cancer expanding, and you wouldn't mind a surgeon attacking and excising it. The reason the center sephira of Tipareth is called Beauty is because it mediates and purifies the influences of all the others for the good of the whole. The Tree of Life is a lovely system which, to my mind, maps the anatomy of the soul. Just as the body has mechanisms for sustaining life, the spirit has means of attaining and sustaining wisdom and protecting that which is good. I highly recommend Dion Fortune's book, "The Mystical Qabalah," for more insights on the nature of each sephira.

@Pedro Cavalcanti I agree with this, though I don't think God is fleshed or has a single form but rather a free flowing entity who will answer accordingly to wishes or challenges if need be, but mostly just lets reality and the universe answer.

Ah, I'm so happy to know you've found this useful. There's so much to learn about the tree of life, and I remember how daunting I found the first approach. I learn new stuff about this every day, and I'd be surprised if I ever nkow it all, but we have to start somewhere, right?
I know I haven't yest reviewed book 2 of Promethea by Alan Moore, but if you're new to this, I'd STRONGLY recommend that if you like graphic novels. Moore is a proper afficionado, and Promethea is a fantastic primer, coveing so much ground in a very relaxed manner.

Very interesting! When you highlighted the columns of severity and mercy it occurred to me that this is one of the reasons the socially constructed gender binary has led to, for example, 'toxic masculinity'. In a healthy framework/society/culture there would be a recognition that every human needs to be in touch with each of these aspects 'to be whole', like you said. In a toxic masculine and feminine framework, people are socially conditioned to actively deny one side of their tree of life, leaving them unstable, unbalanced, and volatile.

I think the positives of mars are often missed.
From a evocation i did in the past to mars i got the sense of sharp calculated intellect very controlled and tactical.
This made me re evaluate my thoughts and i realized like most daemons they rule over and influence a domain or aspect of the self.
War is not all uncontrolled rage it can be calculated controlled psychological and tactical.
For all of that you need balanced and controlled emotions.
Next time life is in turmoil and you need to make important decisions conquer the war in your mind and evoke mars.

    • @DarkMoonDroid
      @DarkMoonDroid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I found more depth in Mars when I did an evocation once too. I got the aspect of the intense bonds that are made between fighters - whether on the same side or enemies - there is a depth there that is unlike anything else.

Such a great comment. I've often been the more venusian type of guy but balance is definately needed and there are lots of light-filled aspects of mars.
In astrology mars is also associated with passion, drive, energy, achieving goals and having a positive mindset. A sense of conquering. It's dark side consequently recklessness, competitiveness and egoism.

@Mario Keyrouz emotional or phycological instability. This is internal conflict.
You cant win or fight a war if you haven't mastered your self.
This is the part of mars people miss. War is conflict doesnt have to be against another human it can be conflict within or conflict with a situation.

Is Mars a daemon? You evoked it? Do you mean you evoked Mars, the daemon, to possess you? I’m new to this, but have most definitely been lead here by spirit, and come from a Christian background so you can imagine how alarming that sounds.

    • @delicrux
      @delicrux 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@squarepeg418 daemon is Greek roughly translating to spirit of influence or inspiration.
So technically any spirit that affects your persona is a daemon.
I think daemon is too often mistranslated as the latin word demon, which was used by the church to vilify any work involving spirits.
Invoke calls out too, evoke calls upon something.
When evoking you bring a spirit or its influence upon or withing your self.
I do recommend you learn more. About protection and clearing space before evocation.

16:08 Daath does in fact have everything to do with a star wars villain as George Lucas drew heavily from Gnostic, hermetic and cabbalistic ideas whilst creating the star wars universe. As the Sith (the bad guys)represent the 'darkside of the force' in these movies, all of their adepts use the prefix of Darth (abyss) in their titles. (Darth maul, Darth Sidious, etc) The name Darth Vader translates as 'Abyss father' drawing on Both Judiac and Germanic linguistics (an interesting combo there) which gave a heads up to those with knowledge of such things of the main reveal in Empire strikes back (Darth is Luke's father) even in the first film (which is now the 4th due to the prequels).

9:36 The positive side of Geburah would be the positive ways of integrating aggression like the ones that Jordan Peterson points out in people like Jocko Willink. I know it is hard to see positives in aggression and war. But groups like the Navy Seals are able to perform rescue missions with minimal casualties, rather than invade or go to war to rescue someone. Protecting your friends of family. Lots of good examples of where you may need to be aggressive to defend you or your loved ones.

    • @ricktherrien8235
      @ricktherrien8235 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This is true but try replacing the word aggression with assertiveness, aggression provides the impression through its respective nature of lack of control and regard for life, the word imply’s the dominate nature of its implication.
Assertiveness is unlike aggression but imply’s a much more controlled and stable form of this expression.
To assert yourself allows one to use common respect and regard and to avoid physical force or power/control all while making a strong impact more so then aggression.
When we use aggressive means to try and protect ourselves and our family creates the potential for respective aggression or violence due to our own.
When you can take control through displaying immovable mind and will and present that fact that you are willing to offer your life to defend your loved ones and your personal will and lack of fear of being intimidated or afraid of the potential harm from those who are overpowering you you cause the person/persons to not be able to calculate you and thus be unable to gain control over you while you display a calmness and control not common to most people.
When you are being faced with aggression and hostility you gain control through having clarity and mental stability, this allows you to intimidate the other through displaying total integrity and lack of personal reception to the threats or aggressive behaviour of the others and your willingness to defend yourself through direct impact of upon ones sense of expectation and when you show you have no reaction to their hostility and do not need to resort to such primitive behaviour you cause the other person to lose their sense of personal power through experiencing someone who has a greater integrity then to be unsettled by means of attack and domination.
You ability to remain fixed in your mental control shows the other that they are losing the battle because their aggression seems like a puppy dogs little barks compared to someone who unable to be influenced and who displays a forceful attitude yet does not require hostile means of attack or demands and shows no need to try and be powerful or to display need to be taken as strong and willing to display vulgar forms of violent force or threat.
You ability to be stay mentally still and clear and to intimidate without basic crude force or strength or to try and prove yourself by overpowering or dominating others will make a major impact and difference in the outcome of a conflict or harmful incident.
Aggression is a way to display ones force and hate through violation of ones rights, if you display your own personal ability to not give in to demands or control from your attacker you show your not going to comply and that there is more to you then meets the eye and normal means of influence seem ineffective and the attackers lose their sense of power over you.
Anyone can be aggressive it takes a truly powerful man to be faced with aggression and to overpower it with clam self integrity and control.

19:43 I feel like this was a big thing for me in 2019. Until fall 2015, I was definitely on the dark side, people didn't matter unless they were useful to me, I was using dark witchcraft, sorcery, and necromancy taught to me by a demon that possessed me since middleschool/early highschool, and only thought of power.
In fall 2015, I found that I would need God to reach my goal, and I would need to find a way to want what He wanted to do so. I prayed, and part of me was locked away, the dark part, until 2019.
In 2019, I had to work on "coping" with the dark part coming back, as I was a priest of the Chruch of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints at this point (joined in 2018), and had so many people I cared about. Having this part back, the park that only cared about power and had no use for people except as tools to he used, was difficult, but I was able to reach an understanding.
It was in 2020, best year of my life, where I really started to become whole in many ways, and I'm still working on improving and growing from that wholeness to this day.

Hey, great video, i have a question though, im doing research because i want to implement the tree of life as a diagram for life and thougt. My first question (of many to come), is about the paths from hod and netsach to yesod(not in this diagram, but from the hermetic tree of life), in this video you talk about how the paths in this tree describes the way each emanation "communicates" with each other, in this case, you use imagination (yesod) to access emotions and intellect. Well, what about the hermetic tree of life and the paths from hod and netsach to yesod, what do they intend to mean? I want to understand more in how to aproach this paths.
My next book to read is Magical States of Consciousness (reading Kybalion right now, so im atracted to hermetic tre of life), which version of the tree this book talks about?
Thanks for your videos! Keep them coming!

Hi Augustin! Thanks for ther thoughtful comment!
Magical States uses the hermetic ToL.
I think I'll go ahead and say that to my mind, the Telluric ToL seems more based on logic, and the Hermetic ToL seems more based on intuition. This is not official, just my impression.
David Chaim Smith's book 32 Keys treats on exactly this topic (his opinion if definitely going to be founded on mor than "impression" :D) and is available for pre-order on his own website: www.davidchaimsmith.com/books (publication expected mid-July)

The "10 branch" tree of life is an old tree. Ever since 2012 (humans have access to more knowledge, since then), we've discovered the true tree of life contains 12 branches / 12 centers of life force. A great symbolism for this is that Jesus had 12 disciples...not 10. Let's go further...the temple discribed in the book of the Apocalypse/Revelations, had 12 openings corresponding to the 12 openings in the human body. If we go even further...look at the blueprint of the human DNA...it has 12 strands (of which only 2 are activated at this time).

Yeah, the tree of life and Judaism. Nevermind the babylonian tree of life or that Rome invented abrahamic religions by plagiarizing a dozen older religions. Ok, lol

You are helping me a lot here. I'm always dissecting Jason louv and Damien Echols, and I got to say you're up there with your approach to discussion! Thanks for your help!

Thank you for explaining this. I bought an oracle deck that uses the tree of life and i had no idea what to make of it. Your explanation allowed me to understand that in order to use it i have to also use the tree of life as a means to better understanding myself which is what my oracle wants me tondo.

Again and again I find myself coming back to your videos. They are extraordinary TLDRs nicely packed for practical use. Please keep going. You are doing a lot of seekers a big favor! Also kudos to your knowledge (anybody reading this comment, this fish isn't as foolish as he might wants to be perceived ^^)... Anyhow, I rather spend my time here than to procrastinate
