I haven’t found a single benefit to running 150’ back vs 60’. I catch the same amount and same size fish at 60’ as I would 150’. 60’ back is so much easier to manage, I can make tighter turns, I’m not catching other peoples gear cause there’s always people not paying attention to other boats and running over your gear. Spend more time fishing and less time reeling.

Yup. Especially with other boats around. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.

I agree with your theory on why people lose kokanee. It’s in their fight and size.

love your vids, I am in spokane so fishtrap and horseshoe lakes for me.
I don't like dogers or willow leaf spinner rigs, too much weight on the line, I want to fight the fish not my gear.
That being said, I can't argue with how much those rigs produce fish.
I was out at Roosevelt, my buddy was using a jack loyd setup with a wedding ring and worm.
I was using a memps with a med split shot about 2 ft up the line.
I got more to the boat but he got more hits and the fish he did get were bigger.
Keep up the excellent content as usual.

Keeping them tipped with something helps. Some places you can't buy a fish unless it is tipped. Maggot, worm, corn something for scent. Thanks for watching.

      @@Northwestfishingfanatics Funny you say that.
I fished with a gal that swore up and down that you had to but bait of some kind on or you won't catch anything.
Well she set her spinner up with a worm I set up without I limited, she got skunked until the last hour, then she took the worm off and immediately got hits and brought a few in on the way back to the launch.
the other side of the story is
my paw and I were on fishtrap and nothing was biting
He pulled out a can of wd-40 spray and shot his lure not 15 min later fish on and in the net I sprayed and we were both catching trout about 14 inches so sent is a factor

Good sir, I have less the knowledge that you have but since purchasing my boat 3 years ago I have learned a thing or two about grinding out the trout\kokanee in American lake while salmon season is done. I usually have one of my sons suffering with me in the winter months and what we have learned was on the downriggers between 15’ and 35’ on the wire, set back between 60-80’. On the surface rods, an arrowflash or heavy Brads dodger with no weight and what ever tickles your fancy plug or smaller spin and glow tipped with Pautzke’s fire corn set back 125’ to 165’ on the counter.

I’m far from an expert perch fisherman, but in my experience I find them spread out hugging the bottom more often than anything. It can make them hard to see in the sonar.

Last year I found several huge schools 15' thick and 30ft wide from the bottom up. Just need to be there when they're partying. 😀

@@Northwestfishingfanatics I was on American last weekend trolling for trout and Kokanee. I even saw guys catching perch but like you, I never saw a single thing that looked like a school.
I even trolled over the area I saw them caught in after the others left and still didn’t see anything.

Finally! I’ve been looking for a channel with a river bass boat.
I’ve been in Washington for 9 years now and bought a bass tracker outboard jet drive.
I found you by looking for a good place to take my new boat and found your “secret lake” and looked it up on TH-cam and there you were.
I’m going up there this Thursday to scope it out, if I like it I’ll be back the next day with my boat.
Thanks for the videos, hope we meet up sometime.
