    If you would like to get a turbo of your own as well as helping our channel, use the link above!
    Time to Turbo a Rotary! We have been wanting to give turbos a second shot and figured that the rotary minibike would be a pretty good candidate. We removed the stock sachs KM48 carburetor and started to put together our draw through turbo system with a VZ21 turbo. We found a pretty easy solution to oiling the turbo by using a GoPowerSports pulse pump as an oil feed pump.
    Thank y’all for watching, stay safe, and be sure to stay tuned for the next episode!

    Been reading all the comments and suggestions, thanks for all the input guys! Episode 2 will be out next week but it was filmed the same time as Episode 1 so we won't be addressing any of these problems in the next video. Episode 3 we will get everything sorted with the oiling system!

      Hi guys, you also need to add a vent to the top of your oil reservoir/catch can so the oil can breathe/flow freely out of the turbo drain (I know all this from low mounted turbos with scavenge pumps in the car world)..here's a link to give you a ideal of what I mean

    Your turbo drain line needs to be bigger, I think double the inlet size and the oil tank needs to be vented if it isn't already to allow the oil to drain back into the tank. The pump is pressurizing the turbo and without a vented tank there will not be enough vacuum to pull oil back in. I would try venting the tank and the drain line may be large enough so you don't have to make new larger turbo fittings.

  • @Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes
    @Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes 3 ปีที่แล้ว +56

    you need to increase the size of the oil drain, normally it's a hose as fat as your thumb, not that little tiny thing as small as a pencil~! thats why it's pushing oil out of the seals!

      No, they are feeding the oil into the drain side of turbo. Center section needs to be rotated and oil fed into the m8 / 1.25 thread in the top via a banjo bolt.

    My sachs says 2 stroke oil (premix)on the tank. Maybe put the pulse pump on the turbo oil return line having it feed a cooler and loose the catch can. An exhaust expansion chamber would allow the gases the expand and add volume to the intake since you're not using a blow through carb. I love this build. Some porting in the turbo housing makes a big difference, sir

    Hello, I'm a retired mechanic and I wanted to give you guys a heads up about MIG welding and ball bearings,
    I would recommend to keep your welding segregated from the turbo, Even though your project had a tight ground clamp
    and you would think energy is not passing internally through parts, it is...
    micro arcing can be induced and ruin your bearings, And because the pitting is tiny it takes a while for the bearings to fail,
    There was a similar thing happening to gyroscopes failing in space satellites that was baffling engineers
    Till they discovered electromagnetically induced energy had caused pitting in the bearings.

    • @ReiniGrauer
      @ReiniGrauer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, how the hell does anyone fuck that up?
      Also, there is no such thing as too much oil going to a journal bearing turbo. A journal bearing turbo needs oil pressure on the feed. It will use as much oil flow as it needs to float the bearings. The bearing clearances are the restrictor. You literally can't send too much oil into the turbo at normal engine oil pressures.

    You just answered my question. But that turbo is meant to have about 30psi of pressure and there’s no way a vacum diaphragm pulse pump is going to generate pressure anywhere close to that. You just need a better dump system and I would mount the pulse pump above and closer to the turbo so you have more volume on your dump side.

    Something you may not realize. That if the seals are leaking that much, the end bushings will need to be replaced. Did you try to wiggle the turbine shaft, to ensure the turbine isn't going to grind against the housing ? Once that happens the turbo needs to be tossed in the trash can. Turbo's can be taken apart in a matter of minutes. Bushings are a few dollars. Be. Safe, not sorry.

    You should do another Pause pump on the drain site so it drains faster

    Would you be interested in a mini roots supercharger for a 100 to 200cc engine?

    2 things, up your oil drain size, and use the catch can properly. There is no reason to have a reservoir of oil in the middle of the drain line. You will have backup into the turbo. Oil drain should be free and clear back to the engine.
    OCC should be routed to the Intake, and to the crank case.

    Turbo’s need a lot of drain and that skinny pipe you’s have on will stop the turbo from draining needs a minimum of 3/8, also don’t restrict the oil feed the diaphragm pump will only supply 5 psi

    So you know I just want to make sure you guys know you guys should be using some Bean two cycle oil in that motor it's racing 2-cycle oil it will help prolong the engine and it will run better or it'll run longer more reliable I run it in my car especially if you're going to put a turbo on it just saying put some premix in your gasoline all right guys good stuff

    you have the oil feed and oil drain backwards, the one with the two bolt flange is the oil drain, the oil drain needs to be facing directly down using a tube/flowing fittings twice the size of your oil feed...
    also you should check if the pulse pump can build any pressure (turbo oiling needs not only flow but pressure) do the same test with the pulse pump but put some type of nozzle on the end to see if it builds any pressure.
    that is the reason your fist turbo died and also why this second turbo is passing oil around the seals ,nothing to do with it being a cheep turbo...just improper plumbing of the oil system

    And what ratio premix in the gas?

    Weld the flang on the oil inlet and drill it to 1/8th for restriction
