Maryland is home of the best crabs. So what is the secret of making a fried lump of crabmeat into a perfect crab cake? Chef Nancy Longo from Pierpoint Restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland shows you how.
This is not a down home way to make Maryland crab cakes! We average folk who were born on the Chesapeake use French's mustard (not dijon) and you don't need dry mustard but YES you do need OLD BAY! That is the Maryland Way!!
I Love Me Some Baltimore, MD.....Grew Up There......Nothing Compares To Their Crab Cakes, However, Maine Might Give Them A Run For Money!! :), But I Love My Crab Cakes !!
Souhern N.J. also makes wonderful crab cakes. The crab source is Delaware Bay! The best Crab Imperial I ever had was in Norfolk Virginia. It was washed down with a demi bottle of Chateau d'Yquem, This was in spring of 1958. The bill was less than $20, icluding tip. I was a Marine earning about $75 a month! The wine alone now would be about $600!
I would have loved to see that chef go thru the process slowly, it looks like that was some lemon juice next to her frying fat...which I assume was butter smh...will still try it her way tho...and word to morning shows>>>If you are not going to allot time for a chef to successfully complete the dish please don't have them on. Shame on you CBS
That is way too much binder in her crab cake. Granted the chef used about 3 pounds of meat. My family recipe uses two saltine crackers per pound of lump crabmeat.
I call bullshit and I’m a Maryland crabber and have been for a long time.. - Faidley’s Seafood is the best crabcake ever.. Nothing but jumbo lump... no other meat but jumbo lump...
yea -- but ya did not give the other stuff in the recipe - and that is the main things really - i have had the best crab cake ever - it only had crab and egg - beyond great tasting -- but for me - I like em with a lot of stuff in em - being raised in the south with salmon cakes being the dream - guess i just got used to the wonderful taste of variety with the substance -- and everybody and their granma making crabcakes at every place that has seafood - I found out the real deal - depending on the day and hour and cook -- one place will be better at it at any given time -- all the factors involved making it what it is - makes the taste - I like grated carrot in mine - plus other stuff -- gives em a sweeter taste - when its done right - which is the thing altogether - and I have already looked up the place yu said - I may have already been there back in the day - been to so many places I forget a lot of em - ahahahahahahaaha -- cooking crabcake right now for my breakfast -- gas prices now will make the meal about 300$ more - aint that some chit -- ahahahahaha - any other places yu heard of being really good - and do they have better days or not yu think about having fresher foods on which day - the manger may or may not tell me on the phone -- every body has secrets --

now THAT's a Maryland Crab cake. OLD BAY, Hooray!!!
1 pound of jumbo crab meat
1 pound of sweet crab claw meat
30 butter style crackers crushed into crumbs
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
2 teaspoons parsley
1 cup mayonnaise
juice from ½ of one lemon
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 eggs
1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
1 tablespoon melted, salted butter
This is why I don't normally watch cooking demos on morning talk shows. They always rudely rush the chefs at the end. Its beyond annoying.
your right sucks when they do that! hate it!
Harrrgh I agree 100 percent
This recipe is bomb! I make it all the time
“Wooooh.. Crab cakes and football! That’s what Maryland does!”

And Worcestershire
Been using Dijon and Worcestershire for 40 years. Family is from Chestertown MD and Reedville VA.
Outstanding presentation by Nancy! Thanks for sharing your wonderful recipe.

+Donna Gambrell : MAIN???? Not even close. Delaware yes.
+TheSocratesian what's a Delaware? Lol. I still love your tax free shopping though my forgotten northern neighbor. Maryland loves you.
Nate Smith
Actually I'm from Maryland. But Delaware knows how to do a crabcake. At least in the southern part anyway.

I love being from Baltimore :3
Why weren't there any measurements... I wanted to make them and can't : (
Why even have them cook on the show if they're going to rush them?
This is why I dislike cooking demos on network shows.

She cleaned that crab the hard way
Yesssss perfect

"It's tradition to give this to a friend". She doesn't give it to host 😒
I hate when they don’t do the recipe to the end!
Secret is type of crab lol no China or Indonesia stuff
The shed exactly look like my english prof!!
She threw away the mustard. The best part. lost all respect
Did she say "crab cate" at 0:31? 😂

They need to do this on Fox. They’re nicer and give them time to finish.
I won't be making this recipe.
If you don't have time to devote to a great segment, then don't do it. Nothing like ruining a crabcake while claiming they are great.
mine are better
Wouldn't let the Chef do her thing for running her mouth
I like mine better.
Like
bullshit it all falls apart
