I've searched all over TH-cam for how to do this, and you're the first person who actually have a good clear video on this! Thanks a lot!
You are welcome. Good luck!
Finally, the Elast belt installed the correct way!! Thank you.
Thank you!
I am going to replace the serpentine belt so figured I would replace the AC belt as well. Thank you, this clears up a lot of questions I had for the installation. Thank you and God bless.
No sweat, glad you found it useful! Good luck
Thank you for making and posting this video!
No prob Chris, I'm glad you found it in the swamp of TH-cam.
I have e70 x5 diesel. thank you sir for doing this vid. Much appreciation.
Thank you for taking the time to comment
Thank you, very helpful video
Thank you this helpful tip!
Great video!
Thank you ❤️!
well done sir, well done!
Thanks Marty.
Good video thanks 😊
Thank you Muwafaq
Great video thanks for making it.
But you have to admit it’s pretty ingenious design damn Germans did it again.
Once you know how it works, it is easy and impressive. I agree. Thanks for taking the time to comment
@@jcx2bby no problem great diy videos always deserve 👍🏻 and comment. People take their time to make video, least we can do is like and comment.
Can someone confirm its the same tools with E70 (2009 X5)?
What size ratchet are you using? 1/2 in or 3/8?
I have limited tools. Can you please recommend what length extensions to use?
It is a 1/2 inch ratchet from harbor freight.
Get a set of extensions if you can. 1, 3 and 6 inch at least. But if you only get one, the 3 inch is the best all around size imho. You could even get 2x 3inch extensions and stack them up if you wanted.
ty u prob just saved me 2 grand, where can I send u money if it works?
Haha, save your money friend. Glad you found the video useful.
For the E12, to open you do counter clockwise?
Yes. Normal threads, counter clockwise
Helpful video. Even ista was useless lol
alright, that easy. Same for the S63b44? on ista how i read it was much more difficult then I thought, so the pulley gets back and stretches the belt? I am going to change on my s63 engine now how I saw you change that out so easy. Thanks mate 😁
I would assume the procedure on the s63 is the same, but I don't know for sure. It should be very obvious when you get in there and have a look if that front pulley on the crank looks the same or not. Report back and let us know, and thanks for commenting
Absolutely the same procedure for S63 engine since the pulley and belt are identical
That is good info, thank you
Would it be easier to get access to it from the bottom or is removing the fan the best approach?
I wouldn't say it would be easier at all. It might be possible, but that fan shroud is still going to get in your way. Plus there is a metal bar of some kind that runs along the front of the engine (can't remember if it is a swaybar or what) that will thwart your every move.
Possible, maybe. Easier, probably not.
@@jcx2bby thanks for the info!
@@ginolevino no sweat, good luck with your repairs. Taking the fan out really isn't too bad....it's worth it to have that new belt on and not pay $$$$ for bmw to do it.
@@jcx2bby changed both belts today in my F12. It's a little bit different to get in there, but the steps are all the same. Glad I watched your video, thanks again!
@@ginolevino nice! Congrats on a job well done! Thank you for taking the time to comment here.
This video made all the difference in getting the work done. All those other stretch belt video omg!!
Once again thank you very much!
Lol, I know what you mean. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Do you leave the car in neutral?
No. Park is fine
I'm stuck, the screws wont align correctly? What should I do? I got the new belt installed. Thx
You will get it. Keep moving the pulley around, or use a small punch to align the holes. You got this!
@@jcx2bby Should i loosen it back up again, align it with a punch and then tighten it?
@@gdrex4030 you can try that. I would probably use a small screwdriver or punch to align it before doing that though. And start a bolt in another hole.
@@jcx2bby just tried that but when it snaps back into place it slides just a hair off. Would it help to remove the new belt and then align it and then reinstall the belt you think? Thanks for your help!
@@jcx2bby Got it....thanks for your help!
Man, you see those shade tree mechanic guys trying to jerry rig this installation with a damn broom stick? It's so irresponsible of them to be doing shit like that. I will be tackling this tomorrow but I will have none of the top stuff or water pump removed so we will see how the hell I am going to film this. Will post on the bmwchannel soon. Wish me luck. I haven't seen any videos on how to do this correctly like this one so kudos.
Yeah I think i saw the video you're referencing....SMH. Sad. I think that if you remove the electric fan and accessory drove belt, you should have 'some' access to get to it. I do wish you luck and will be waiting for your vid.
Helpful video. Even ista was useless lol
Why thank you bill. Glad you took the time to comment.
