I was Security out side of the dressing room about 6 years ago at a Judas Priest concert, Testament was the opening band.... Got to meet all of them in person. To tell you the truth they put on a better show then Priest.

Both bands - Testament and Metallica - are part of it, and in the past when Metallica played harder metal (before the black album), they could be compared. The "and justice" album appeared in the same period like the "practice what you preach"...
They're last two records, hell , their whole catalog just blow the " Big 4 " to literally smithereens, Chuck is just a beast, Alex and Eric are like the Malcolm & Angus of thrash/extreme metal, and Hoglan on drums...wow, these guys are killing it
Just saw Testament live at The Zepp in Kuala Lumpur just a couple hours ago. And Rise Up is the opening song and one of my personal favourite Testament songs. 2 months shy of 51 and the comments right here are a Testament to the fact that metal is. in the blood of true metal soldiers. It never leaves you. I becomes part of you. I plays a huge role in the person you become. All genres of metal (thrash, speed,death,black,etc.) it doesnt matter, have the most loyal & genuine fans. about 5 years ago i left a Dying Fetus show covered in blood (some mine, some from others) & bruises as well. fuckin loved it. 2 years ago in the pit start to finish @ Ministry show. knocking guys half my age on their ass & the 1st person to grab their arm & help them back up. fuckin loved it. My Mom always thought I would outgrow Metal. Told me she accepted the fact more than 20 years ago that it wasnt gonna happen.
I have listened to a lot of live band videos here on TH-cam, but this one is one of the few that is near sonic perfection as in sound quality. I mean you can't get much better, hear, everybody, nothing drowning out the other, perfect equalization. They must have a fucking guru behind the mixing board. This is the way metal is supposed to sound, like a in your face, wall of sound, that rattles you senses and leaves you in AWE I have not seen these guys in concert. Somebody tell me-do they sound this good live?
+rbagel55 trust me this video was edited....I seen them 2 weeks ago with Carcass and Slayer and there sound was muddy as hell and couldnt understand a single thing he barley said and it was at the Polaris in Columbus Ohio and they have one of the best sound systems in the state...Carcass sounded like perfection and Slayer was very very nice....I was never a Testament fan but that alone pushed me further away from even trying to give them a chance again...But yeah this video like most other live videos that are turned into music videos are edited and spliced and pasted together so is the sound...read up on it. I seen countless other videos that sound like there off a cd when its a live video and was interested in that and yeah there all edited....Kinda like when you see bands on stage with a wall of Marshall amps lol....There all empty and they are usually running a half stack or combo in the back plugged up to the pa lol.

Don't forget about acoustics in a concert hall. A poorly designed hall will sound like an echo chamber and sound muddy. A well designed hall will sound great.It is no secret that many rock bands for instance have recorded live albums at Buddakan in Tokyo Japan because of it's world reknown acoustics. Sound is a science,it truly is.

53 years young here. Reacquainted myself with Testament four years ago with the purchase of Dark Roots of Earth, and then from there the entire back catalog leading up to Brotherhood of the Snake. That this band has been together for almost 40 years, and still continue to make quality albums and tour is nothing short of amazing. These guys are the real deal. God bless em'. Sound guy messed up his solo for practice what you preach (the effect pedal was messed up) so he just stopped playing and air guitared it with a grin on his face, so professional and enjoys what he does!
They are not gonna leave Megadeth out. But no doubt Testament has been one of the most consistent thrash acts ever. But the big 4 is the big 4. Can make a case for Exodus & Sepultura, as well. Testament was never as big as the big four. But for us true metal fans they will always be 1 of the greats.

1:20 'Hooray .. .Disciples Of The Watch' haha I know Testament already since early eighties through my dad. He had old recordings of the band on VHS from a German Metalfestival. IT TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY !!! Of course they were really Young back then, and could see they were hungry conquering the World. Especially the drummer slayed with his fast triggering. Never had seen that before until then.
I saw testament live at tuska last summer. Holy fuck, i hadn't even listened to them much before it, and it still was one of the best perfomances in the whole festival, those guys sure know how to play live.
This band is like Led Zeppelin was in the 70’s in the sense that every member is critical. Lose just one and Testament would cease to exist and if they replaced him it would never be the same. There’s just a magical chemistry between this lineup that’s un-duplicatable.

This band is like Led Zeppelin was in the 70’s in the sense that every member is critical. Lose just one and Testament would cease to exist and if they replaced him it would never be the same. There’s just a magical chemistry between this lineup that’s un-duplicatable.
