I gonna have a go at this tomorrow, just going to leave the hoses engine side as it seems way too dodgey to take off, got like thin wire clips like on headlamp bulb holders. I'll have a bowl ready.

Do you actually need to disconnect the hoses from the engine bay side? It looks like the metal pipes are sitting through the firewall.

There would have been a lot more water in the car if i hadn't of, because the matrix sits low in the car the water can't go anywhere even when you drain the antifreeze down, plus I found it helped moving the pipes out of the way when disconnecting them. Hope this helps mate 👍

@@Anotherfaff-yk3su Thanks fair points i guess even draining from the radiator is not going to empty the pipes at the rear. I have a new matrix ready to fit, currently i have a cold heater and a wet footwell the left side of the footwell is a platform to put your foot when off the clutch and this is soaking so i think im leaking coolant from the matrix. it doesnt appear to be leaking in the bay and no signs of a blowing head gasket.
there is also a fair chance the aircon overflow is blocked too.

Might be worth checking your grommets around the pipes going into the car while they are loose, could be a small leak, good luck hope it goes well for you!

@@Anotherfaff-yk3su well the fella who normally works on my cars is sick and he suggested chucking in some rad weld and that has cured the leak, still barely any heat thou so the job still needs doing , just not so urgently.
