  • A couple of months ago, I had to make a decision to park my wife's 1984 Mazda B2000. There was something off with the engine.
My worst fear was we lost compression on a couple of cylinders. I just didn't have the time to really get up close and personal with it, but this weekend was a no excuse weekend.
What do you all think the problem is? The engine doesn't smoke or knock. I did notice an issue with the radiator foaming a little. Could it be a head gasket blown.

Ive got the same sundowner and if its a rough idle, with mine the carb adapter plates had bad gaskets and made a vac leak, this can be easily overlooked cause you rarely need to remove the adapter plates. Would love to talk more about your truck cause theres not too much info out there about these things!

Also it would be awesome if you film when you remove the head! Like i said theres not many videos about these trucks and the world could use some!! Nice video btw!

I had mine die and timming jumped so replaced belt tensioner and water pump engine still won’t rev up
Or TAke fue I replaced fuel pump
Also.I can’t figure it out.I found a couple vacuum lines off and seemed to run a little better.Maybe carb or vacuum issue?

I would definitely tighten up all your intake bolts and carb etc. Run it and spray carb choke cleaner around the base of the carb and intake. If your engine stalls or revs up you have a vacuum leak. Another thing is your plugs and wires then I would do a compression check to make sure you didn't bend a valve or something.

I'm thinking maybe do or lost compression.

I am struggling trying to instal a Weber on my 82 B2000 and am fascinated by your linlage to the carb throttle. How does it get to the original linkage or does it go there? Thanks, wolf

I believe the original throttle linkage has been deleted and a cable operates the throttle now.

I'm pulling this head off this weekend. Hopefully it's just what you said about the valves. Thanks 👍
