I finally had the Galaxy Tab 4 7" when I got it as a gift for my 6th birthday in January 3, 2015 (as far as I could remember). I used it and I loved it! and I played games and watched TH-cam. I also got an 2015 Amazon Fire 7 tablet I got in mid-2016, and a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. Unfortunately, I lost this tablet in early 2017 in a gas station and the Amazon Fire 7 sometime around 2018-2020. I found some good old photos in it. Later today I will try to update it somehow and will take it with my roadtrip next month < 3 Excellent device!
I got my black 10.1 in 2014 for Christmas and has always been my most favorite tablet. The charger port got fried in 2017 on an over loaded power socket and only recently I fixed it back to new, which took me waaay too long to figure out but I'm happy that at least with the experience I have now from fixing other stuff let me fix it quickly lol. Now it's my absolute go to when it comes to playing old mobile games, especially Minecraft pocket edition. It isn't really powerful enough to keep up with modern day youtube and web searching like my S9 FE but still amazing for being 10 years old.
I still have my Galaxy Tab 2 from 2012. It still works but it is painfully slow. The TH-cam app doesn't work anymore but it can still use the web browser version of TH-cam. The only browser that still works on it is Opera.

Netflix, Amazon prime and Disney plus all work fine so it's still doing it's job!! Love the 8 inch size, so comfortable to hold and use
My grandma gave me this tablet for free in 2018 or so. I have been using it to film funny videos with my siblings ever since. The only problem is that it is old and TH-cam and Chrome no longer update. They still work though!
On 2021, I discovered some cool functions on the tablet's Gallery and the Video Player: I can hide photos, I can slow down videos and navigate from frame to frame!
Our 10 inch still works but slow a hell and a little glitchy . We use it for YT and mostly in the kitchen for cooking recipes. Honestly would love to use it full time for my other stuff instead of using my phone . I'm not getting any younger and neither are my eye's lol
This is my first tablet, i used this in 2015, but when we are moving in 2020, i was using this tablet for features, even the kids mode feature, but in 2021 i sold this tablet and the Samsung Galaxy Tab E to my aunt in Mexico.
I had this exact tablet from a really young age- my love for video games started on that tablet lol. It's how I started playing Brave Frontier (RIP), which got me the inspiration for my current online alias. It also started my Samsung pipeline, as I now own a Samsung S10e as well as a few accessories! Seeing the Tab 4 in this video gave me a huge surge of nostalgia, despite the memories of panicking over the tablet not waking up at times due to the games I played 😅
First tablet back when I was a kid. Mine is in "the discard old electronics" pile, but it's a neat piece of history. Modern electronics should still have the physical home button if the screen isn't the whole body though.
I had one since Christmas 2015 when I was in 6th Grade, my parents gave me this Samsung Tablet as a Christmas gift, but I replaced it with an iPad 9 in 2021, which I now use as a Drawing Device. For the final years of using this Tab 4, I was using it as my main drawing device until that iPad with Apple Pencil. A suggestion of what to do with the Tab 4 in 2024 is to install a custom ROM and upgrade to a newer Android OS, and then use it as a Carplay Reciever Unit by installing an app that does that.
This no longer works after a factory reset, because it won't let you sign into Google (app store). It keeps telling you the password doesn't match but in fact it is their outdated program that somehow preventing the communication/verification from Google.
I sold mine off because a tiny little bug got inside probably the size of 5 pixels and crawled into the middle of the screen and died, my ocd couldn’t stand to look at it
I bought iPad 9th generation one year ago, although it was already a two year old model. It works fine for me now, I use it mainly for drawing in Procreate and watching TH-cam. Sometimes I use Affinity Designer and note taking apps. It is still a great tablet, I think it will receive updates from Apple at least three more years, so that is also a good thing. I hate the fact that Android tablets have poor Android support, I am happy with my iPad and I think I will use it longer than my previous Android tablets that were much cheaper.
I still used it up until today. Instagram, TikTok (occasionally), and TH-cam (web version) still runs smooth. Twitter stopped working when it switched to X. Unfortunately today it's now stuck on the boot loop of death.
HOLY SHIT I HAVE THIS TOO black version tho Used to watch movies on this using Showbox and whilst it was a good experience the audio wasn’t too good when slightly far away.
I've had this since 2014. Tablets have come a LONG way since then. I too was about to toss it away. The battery isn't the same but I'll keep a cord near.
I still have this tablet ever since I got it on Christmas '15 I think. Pictures and videos of that day on my mother's Note 4. Unfortunately the back camera doesn't work (it still does but pictures are incredibly fuzzy) and the home button doesn't have a satisfying click anymore (I have to press really hard on it) I'm currently charging it up and I'm gonna see if I can make it run smooth again after a factory reset.
I am watching this video with a 10.1" tab 4 with Android 5.0.2. Still alive. Just the screen got fixed once. Still the original battery. Nostalgia hits hard.
I still have this mini tablet I remember when I first got back in 2014. I went to see if it’s still works it does turn on and everything but nothing really is not supported such as apps like TH-cam, Amazon prime and more.
I've got one that still works and the battery is original since 2015 and is still going. Unfortunately, my home button no longer works. I may try to repair it or just get a new one.
I had the 10.1 inch version of this back in 2014, I remember flashing marshmallow rom on this thing after it stop receiving updates after Android 4.4.2. I believe I sold it at the end of 2016.
I watch this video from this tablet honestly and its still works pretty good to 10 years ago tablet and suggest it for kid or old people even of normal age if your usage is average. 1 thing the youtube app is stoped for this tablet i watch this from browser.
i had one for a long time, its a more tablet model and its black (SM-T530) I had multiple chaotic incidents with this, the glass is broken and its been factory resetted multiple times in repair, so unfortunately there's not much of the past besides that one time where my brother tried to use it. I really wish to use this tablet again, since my sd card is not compatible with my tablet and I don't wish to spend any more money I'll be de-bloating it using the universal android debloater (i hope it'll be sort of able to speed up my tablet)
Mine works still, but the only problem is that it hasn't updated since like the last time I used it (around 2018 or smth) so apps like YT and others don't work anymore just like in this video.
I have it and is super slow nowadays. Sadly most of the apps I use like office suit youtube, hbo, kindle are no longer compatible, chrome doesnt update anymore. I will use it just as pdf reader.
I still have mine! Works perfectly but doesn't seem to support software updates anymore. Just got me the S9 Ultra with its whopping 14.6" screen and had a good laugh comparing the two.
No hate here but say what you want about Apple but any device from 2014 is still supported pretty well. I can't even get latest TH-cam version on my Tab 4 in 2022. How is only eight year thrown away by Samsung.
I bought my tablet in 2014 and have been using it ever since. I have always loved it but now it has given up the ghost. Being of the senior generation my techno needs are minimal but it was a boon to me. Until 4 months ago. Either the connection is not working any more or the battery is worn out and I am lost without it. I need to upgrade I guess but don't know which way to . All I know is I dearly miss my old friend
I recently found mine, I had it since 2014 and everything was last updated around 2018 - it's running an outdated version of chrome and when you go onto Google play to update it, there isn't an option I think it's becuase the os required for the new version of chrome exceeds the tab 4, but I wanted to know if you're also running an outdated version of chrome and unable to update it
What a pity you didn't describe a workaround or an update so I can use TH-cam as I still have this machine and use it regularly for press downloads and e-mails.
So, I just dug up my Samsung T-230 Galaxy Tab 4, same as in the video, to use as a music player. To my bluetooth device and to the stereo in the living room. Like a remote with built in music so to speak. But unfortunally despite me logging into google account, I cannot get into google apstore Play. I wanna download a better music player, because the built in one is really really bad. I wanna be able to see my maps and folders, but I cannot with this music player. When I try get into Play store, its only loading, nothing happens. I will continue to let it go for a while. See what happens. It would be a perfect way to re-use this 9 year old tech device, and to actually get it to do something really useful. The battery is still very good and lasts for weeks when only used for music playing like I do. TH-cam on the device worked recently, but just today stopped working, it says "download the new version". Will see how it goes. Problem here is not the hardware, its the software.
I have the nook version one. It’s slow but it’s great for what I use it for and that’s just to read while on the train. Just incase someone jacks it from me, i won’t really care to much. 😂

I'm currently charging it up and I'm gonna see if I can make it run smooth again after a factory reset.
You can just use assistive touch and you can use the home button
Btw that feature is in settings
@@jaymrduck721I had the same issue. This solves it. Thanks
I have a tab4 10inch, pretty great for casual web surfing at coffee shops
I have the samsung galaxy tab s3 and I made so many memories from that.
I had the 10.1 inch version of this back in 2014, I remember flashing marshmallow rom on this thing after it stop receiving updates after Android 4.4.2. I believe I sold it at the end of 2016.
I have one of these that's been setting in box for years. Planning on using it for a home dj music station.🤔
I watch this video from this tablet honestly and its still works pretty good to 10 years ago tablet and suggest it for kid or old people even of normal age if your usage is average. 1 thing the youtube app is stoped for this tablet i watch this from browser.
i had one for a long time, its a more tablet model and its black (SM-T530)
I had multiple chaotic incidents with this, the glass is broken and its been factory resetted multiple times in repair, so unfortunately there's not much of the past besides that one time where my brother tried to use it.
I wish there was a root to upgrading to Android 8 or newer but haven’t found anything. Let me know if you do tho!
Same here.
@@johnzoid74 different ROMs: 🗿🗿🗿🗿
I remember having one of these in 2014-2018 when i was a kid ❤ it was a 🔥 tab bro
I've been using my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 since 2014, not for games but for my kindle library.. nice tablet
Can you use it with TH-cam ?
I have TH-cam Vanced on my Galaxy Tab 4
I have this same tablet, and sure, some games fail to load properly, but everything still works!
I have it and is super slow nowadays. Sadly most of the apps I use like office suit youtube, hbo, kindle are no longer compatible, chrome doesnt update anymore. I will use it just as pdf reader.
i still use mine till this day
tab 4 10inch lte wifi android 5.0
I still have mine! Works perfectly but doesn't seem to support software updates anymore. Just got me the S9 Ultra with its whopping 14.6" screen and had a good laugh comparing the two.
No hate here but say what you want about Apple but any device from 2014 is still supported pretty well. I can't even get latest TH-cam version on my Tab 4 in 2022. How is only eight year thrown away by Samsung.
Very true
I have one of these now. Don’t remember where I got it from but I love it
It looks good to me, John. Great nostalgia! 👍
Thanks, Joseph!
@@johnzoid74 my pleasure.
Guy is way too much underrated
Thanks man 😎🤜🤛
1:13 for specs i use cpu z tbh it is better than settings app
i dont think you can use cpuz on android, but i may be wrong.
You can use cpu z on android
Something is that you can Move Apps to SD Card
Used it yesterday to get some old Spotify playlists off my mums account as her account is broken ,it took ages to get a link out of it.
If you'd played angry birds epic... Oh god such great memories
It's my work horse until 2019.
My dad bought it in 2014 and now I still use it
that's awesome
I recently found mine, I had it since 2014 and everything was last updated around 2018 - it's running an outdated version of chrome and when you go onto Google play to update it, there isn't an option I think it's becuase the os required for the new version of chrome exceeds the tab 4, but I wanted to know if you're also running an outdated version of chrome and unable to update it
yes I'm running dated Chrome. Unsure how to root devices or I would try!
What a pity you didn't describe a workaround or an update so I can use TH-cam as I still have this machine and use it regularly for press downloads and e-mails.
Howplease i needrhatbypass
I still have mine since 2014 until now 🇬🇼
So, I just dug up my Samsung T-230 Galaxy Tab 4, same as in the video, to use as a music player.
These were good on there own time
I still have mine .. I'm trying to get the buttons cleaned because my little nephew would pick his nose and the boogies got stuck in the buttons. LOL
I used to use this aaaall the time back in 2014-2016 when i was younger, i was cleaning and found it it still works now but its quite slow
I upgraded it to android 11
Linage OS
I actually had 1 since age 3 And still use it to this day
Works great for my kids I have it updated to android 5.1 as of now
could you post the rom link/ directions here ?
I still have this tab 4 8.0 from verizon and it is still working since 2014 with the android lollipop
Cutrently using it right now watching this video lol
hahah that is so rad😂 yeah I still play with mine here and there. Impressive it still runs with a few simple workarounds
I have samsung galaxy tab A6 7inch and it looks similar to your tablet
It is still working in 2023
The tablet sound effect in Lock screen is look like Samsung Galaxy j3 2016
My first tablet ! It lasted 6 years... I remember playing Minecraft PE on it.
Im a proud owner of a galaxy tab 4. Although youtube and other stuff doesnt work it still have some uses
I'm 7 years old and I got that tablet when I was 4 and my one had android 5.1.1 I still have the tablet

I have the nook version one. It’s slow but it’s great for what I use it for and that’s just to read while on the train. Just incase someone jacks it from me, i won’t really care to much. 😂
How do you have the new version of playstore? Mine won't update it says it's up to date but it the old playstore logo
Jesus, i still have mine
Yup just powered mine up in 24 to see what we can do with it. Ideal to make it a reader for epub and music player
I had it for years I currently use it as an ebook cause the light weight and the size
I tend not to use it online much cause it drains fast otherwise great
Hey, how can i access the internet? Mine won't connect, any suggestions?
@@ouidatyler8505 well maybe it's because of your router because this device is old it only connect to 2.4g network so try to check if that's on, newer devices use 5g so you might not be able to know without checking
If you have another one, do a giveaway! 👍
I came into one of these in mint condition SM-T230NU. How do I upgrade to higher version of Android from 4.4.2? So far I managed to root the device and that's all. Still working on it. It's in great shape and will be useful.
