I really enjoy this film because it was over the top but they made the final girl smart. We don’t have a helpless damsel running, falling and hiding in horror movie places. This movie to me was fun and a solid watch for the kills alone.

The best thing of the movie is the main character is insanely competent at attacking and defending herself and she becomes a much smarter and stealthier killer than the hunters

Fun fact, originally Erin was supposed to be shot in the head at the end by the cop. They even filmed it. You can find the pictures of it online. I liked this ending better though. She survived. It would have sucked for her to go through hell and then die in the end from a misunderstanding
I even heard the test audience despises that ending so they ended up going for erin surviving the gunshot
I think it was intended to be a horror comedy, but what made it a little clumsy was some of the actors just didn’t realize what kind of movie they were in. Barbara Crampton plays the mom and she’s actually pretty well known in the horror community as a scream queen, so she just may not have realized the tone they were going for.
She was supposed to be heavily medicated. She got the tone just fine.
You should watch Ready Or Not
It’s got a very similar tone to it but they amp up the more dark and graphic humour to it and it works perfectly with the movie

Everyone experiences trauma differently, especially people with mental illness, which the mother character was previously mentioned to have. I think her reaction was totally realistic albeit irritating.

I'll give the girl a 50/10 because she got some good kills and some survival instincts.

I think the thing with her hair was like an optical illusion, when it was put up you can see the darker grayish bits and the roots, when it's straight down you can only see the silvery/blonde color and not the darker gray underneath.

The mother was out of commission when she 1st thought someone was in the house at the beginning. Plus imagine a mother lose their child if front of her eyes…awesome film👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
I wonder if the beginning of the movie was to establish the awkwardness and how uncomfortable the family feels about each another. And that beginning sex scene felt really unnecessary.

Have you never seen someone go into hysterics and shut down? It happens and its really unpleasant. There is virtually nothing you can do to calm them down. For aomeone mentally unwell and heavily medicated this reaction is quite realistic.

This movie falls into the “mumblecore” genre (yeah I never heard of it before this either). Basically they’re movies where they don’t stick to the script and kinda just go with the flow when it comes to dialog. That could be why it came off as a “student film” and the dialog seems bad. I like it tho, it feels less produced. And I do think the campy tone was definitely intentional. Reminds me of horror movies from the 70s/80s.

Honestly the family and the way they act, conversating together is just like some families I know. (Even the dad greeting his son, its weird to some but real for others.) Especially someone who is very privileged like the family in the movie. (They hella rich)

I don't know what the likelihood of this happening is, but it'd be amazing if you guys ever got around to watching my all time favourite flick "Synecdoche, New York". It's this insanely intricate darkly comedic philosophical masterpiece. It'd be a blast to see you guys react to it!

A person like that would not react to Tariq's death the way she did. Her daughter yes... I couldn't stand the young brother and Zee... they did not bring anything to this movie but forced angst and the plot! lol

I think they adlibbed more at the beginning. I know there was a lot going on. I think that’s why the acting is debatable. I think the more scripted it gets, the better the acting.
I see this movie as slightly overrated by the fan base. Erin is awesome. Everything else is underwhelming to me. It’s cool if people like it, it just didn’t click with me
