I'm actually disappointed that you didn't show Alex asking the Djinn to self-delete, only for that plan to not work. "If it's any consolation, dear Alex... *that hurt like hell."*
Fun fact: Andrew Divoff's performance as The Djinn was one of the main influences for the voice used for Imperfect Cell in DBZ Abridged. They even reference the "That hurt like Hell" line from the movie.
When James start Talking about Genie I thought of this quote for Dr.Doofenshmirtz "You know what I never understood? Genies. They tell you to wish for whatever you want but then they add some terrible twist. Like you wish to jump high so they turn you into a frog. Why? Who gains from that? The genie? Where's the benefit?"
The point, like any mythological antagonist, is the moral lesson: nothing is free, everything gained comes with a price and the bigger the instant gain is, the bigger the price is. For horror sake, this version of the story results in the death of the wisher regardless what they wish for. You know what the messed up part is? The store clerk's eyes rolling back kind of implies she was still conscious so for at least like a day or so she was just frozen trapped as a mannequin unable to do anything not even scream.

Maybe it’s just me but I always thought Jeepers Creeper was made to look like Wishmaster in some kind of way because when I was a child I always thought the creeper looked similar to Wishmaster lol
You know what, I definitely see it, too! JC is like the scrawny sub-species of Djinn lol Fun cannon: what if JC was a djinn that lost their power/'lamp'? Still being a dimensional being, it's body keeps rotting away as it's stuck powerless in this foreign realm. So it found a way to harvest body parts from the realm-native beings to replace his own degrading ones, and goes into extensive sleep cycles to preserve energy between harvests. It's drawn to "fear" because, as a Djinn, it'd be drawn to humans who are in particular emotional distress cause those are the easiest to get wishes from
My god!!! I’ve been looking for this movie for years, but the only thing I remembered was the bouncer scene. Thanks man, looking forward for the sequels!!!

Thank you for highlighting Wishmaster…it is really great. When I first watched it, I didn’t realize the scope of horror royalty in it…there may be a kind of bias in there but I love that fact their presence doesn’t get in the way of the story. Final kudos, we do need more horror villains with power limitations…makes better stories.
God I love this movie, it used to play all the time on cable when I was a kid. I remember renting it with a friend and seeing the skeleton rip itself out of that dude's body; it had been cut out of the TV version and I was *not* prepared.

The final shot of the last movie, when she exits the house, wipes tears from her eyes, and walks into a new day and the rest of her life is... better than three of the other movies combined. It HIT me emotionally.
James said he didn’t care much for Alex’s storyline, but I disagree. The Djinn playing off her trauma and empathy for others made for a more tense story. And it was so rewarding when she was able to take a moment at the climax to figure out how to outwit him, in spite of her sister’s life being dangled before her.
@@animeotaku307 the fourth movie isn’t really well made overall, but that last shot was incredible. It captured how I’ve felt every time I have lived through harsh grief and finally had to move forward into life again.

Its similar to the Judgement stand in Stardust Crusaders!
As a warning, Wishmaster 3 and 4 don't have Andrew Divoff.
and therefore, much like the last 2 Indiana Jones films, I refuse to acknowledge their existence.
I still wonder why he wasn't in the third or 4th movie. There's no wishmaster without him.
Fun fact: Takahata101 of TeamFourStar used Wishmaster as his inspiration for Imperfect Cell in Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
That's cool
Hence why when Android 16 rips off Imperfect Cell tail he quotes the Djinn line
"But if it's any consolation, that hurt like Hell"
He also used Zorak from Space Ghost: Coast to Coast/Cartoon Planet
18:47 THE CLASH OF VOCAL F***ING GOATS
Yesssss-aaaaaaah! The Killcount-taaaaahhhh, featuring Wishmast-aaaaaaah!
This film is literally just "a finger curls on the monkeys paw" and I fucking love it
"Alex carries guilt like a Catholic sex worker" is such a wild line. Well done, Dead Meat team!
FINALLY I Needed more Wes Craven kill counts
Would you say you were.. craven it
Bum, bum, tssss 🥁
There's never too much of them.
I love how the Djinn sounds like Triple H exclusively from the Attitude -Ruthless Aggresion Eras lol
i have been waiting soooo freaking long for this kill count!! when i tell you i actually gasped out loud when i saw the thumb nail!!! and it definitely was worth the wait!! such a great episode!!
Just watched this movie last night in prep for this one. I love Wishmaster
"If it's any consolation, that hurt like hell" is such a good line it got a reference in DBZ Abridged
I genuinely thought this was a recount because i didn’t think there was a chance in hell that James hadn’t covered this masterpiece yet.
Rip tony todd
Me "What was the name of the movie with a Genie making people wish for stuff and turning it against them?"
Dead Meat "I gotchu"
That description sounds like any movie a genie honestly xD
Fun fact, wizard dude from the opening is actually supposed to be Zarathustra, religious reformer and founder of the Zoroastrian religion!
As scaredy cats pointed out in their video it’s weird that the movie claims Zoroastrianism is a dead religion as it’s pretty alive and kicking
@@brigidmadden5577 so many great religions and mythological deities worldwide
@@brigidmadden5577I wouldn’t call it alive and kicking. It’s only got about 100-200k followers left, most of them live in either India or Iran and in Iran it’s for the most part practiced in secret or private. And that number drops every year. I love the Zoroastrian religion but it is definitely on its way to being extinct in the next couple hundred years unless something drastic changes
To this day i stitll struggle trying read it (or maybe im just dyslescix)
Zoroastrianism is honestly a pretty badass religion with a much cleaner history than most others. I kind of hope it gets a revival soon.
Damn, The Djinn kills:
Jason 14:49
Candyman 19:06
and Freddy? 20:26
WE NEED A HORROR MOVIE WITH ALL THE FAMOUS HORROR KILLER ACTORS TEAMING UP TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST A MASKED SERIAL KILLER.
YES!
@@fan1000 if they ever make a move about that, I'd be breaking every street law just to get to the theaters on time🤣
I'd be fine with them playing themselves in the movie.
Sadly, Anthony Perkins and Gunnar Hansen are no longer with us.
geriatric expendables vs a group of psychotic masked teenage slashers (they discovered some occult shit and have now formed a cult)
4:06 i feel so seen thank you james
RIP Tony Todd
With the amount of Phantasm actors in this, and knowing James is a HUGE Phantasm fan... why has there been no Kill Count yet? Those movies are fantastic
Because it's a phantasm.
It always bothered me that Tony Todd's character was tricked into "wishing to escape" but was put into a different situation and then... Didn't escape! The thing he actually wished for! Wish unfulfilled!
Escape velocity would have been a much funnier twist to that.
One could say that he escaped the mortal coil?
The rules stop mattering after a couple of kills
So glad dead meat exist fr
Thank you so much!
Good call on his part going the "MK: Annihilation" and also "MK9" and "Totally Killer" route @ 23:19. Because the people that came back still remained on the Count in the first place.
23:57 That's what you get for rejecting the lamp earlier in the video xD
I absolutely loooove Wishmaster!! Glad you finally did a review for it. Wish more people knew about it lol
Agreed, it's such a fun time. I hope it gets some kind of resurgence!
Such an all star cast, love this classic
Just worked with Robert Kurtzman and his INCREDIBLE wife on a movie about a month back. Legendary and classy to the end!!!
Rest in peace Tony Todd
19:03 i got a crazy headcanon though... what if johnny valentine became the grim reaper / death in the final destination films after the events of this film and that wishmaster is a secret prequel to the final destination films?
Wishmaster is one of my friend temperature checks. If you don’t like this movie, we don’t have much in common!
It’s this and Killer Klowns of course
"Wishmaster"(1997) is an acceptably good fantasy horror movie!
Love this movie. It came out when I was going through my divorce. Fun times were scarce at that time in my life, so a good old-school horror movie really hit the spot. Thanks for covering it and bringing it back to mind. I'm gonna go find this and buy a copy. Or rent a copy. Whichever, I gotta see it. Cheers!
Maybe it’s just me but I always thought Jeepers Creeper was made to look like Wishmaster in some kind of way because when I was a child I always thought the creeper looked similar to Wishmaster lol
You know what, I definitely see it, too! JC is like the scrawny sub-species of Djinn lol
Fun cannon: what if JC was a djinn that lost their power/'lamp'?
My favorite kill counts are the ones were james is the most interested and clearly a fan of makes it show that this isnt a job he just enjoys counting his favorite movie kills
My uncle and I used to go to Blockbuster and hire out these movies weekly alongside Pumpkinhead and it's sequels. These on VHS was a trip
Thank you. I am part of Helen's hurricane. No power for a days. But now and again I get signal. It let's me watch things like this. Keep it up
Andrew Divoff is fantastic as The Djinn.😀👍
15:59 What do you mean, you only count the one person we know was on this plane!?
You think it took off without a pilot?! A copilot? Not a single stewardess on board!?
I say we were robbed of at least three kills!!!
😁
That's what I was thinking. Even if the entire flight crew called in sick last minute, theres at least one pilot on there.
Beautiful cabin crew 🌹
Scarlett Johansson💋💋
Wait, people actually give a f about the number of kills?
@@chrisspike3282 Um... well... I mean... Otherwise I could... Like... How do I Put this?... Just watch the movie!!! 😉
@@saschaeisenhut757 What are you even saying
@@chrisspike3282Yes.
The best horror films are the underrated ones. Wishmaster was a blast!
This is amazing a Kill Count on Sunday? Fucking love it and appreciate all your guys' hard work!
Loved this when I was 9 years old. Saw it as an adult and still dig it
Best line in the movie: "THAT HURT LIKE HELL!" Such a fun flick. 😁
I've always loved: "Don't approve? Alright, FUCK IT!"
This was the first horror movie to really scar me as a child and I've been waiting for you guys to cover this movie.
14:35-14:45 I can’t even count how many times I’ve replayed this
Praying for a continuation of the Stepfather series 🙏
The cinema snob reviewed every film in that series just to let you know
@CameronCunningham-h4f Cinema Snob is how I discovered both Wishmaster and Sleepaway Camp.
Look women can appraise gems AND Coach, James

Facts
Thank you for covering Wishmaster! It's one of my absolute favorites!
I love how James sounds so excited to cover this movie during the intro
God I love this movie, it used to play all the time on cable when I was a kid. I remember renting it with a friend and seeing the skeleton rip itself out of that dude's body; it had been cut out of the TV version and I was *not* prepared.
i love this!!! please do the rest of the series. I thought for sure we were going to end up in an infinite wish loop at the let’s get to the numbers bit
10:18 fairly odd parents reference
so good
Yup. Why I love James.
I love the Fairly odd parents “IF I HAD ONE” meme
Yes! I've been hoping for a while that you would take a look at this movie; definitely one of the best horror films of the 1990s. One thing I really appreciate about is it has a female protagonist who legitimately outsmarts the villain to defeat him.
Shame this series never got the love it deserved, It's full to the brim of great kills and effects
This is actually my favorite horror movie back in my days. I love cameos, and the performance of Andrew Divoff was dope as the Djinn. The sequels (except Wishmaster 2) dropped the ball hard when they had to replace him with another actor.
was wondering how he was gonna handle the ending lol
I had never heard of this. Now its one of my favorites. Thanks James! I wish for the Kill Counts to never end!
16:01 According to the Kill Count, Nick's mom was a licensed pilot and the only staff member on the plane she was flying when it fell out of the air and crashed.
Exactly and u can’t fly a plane that size solo FAA require a copilot I think that one needs changed to at minimum 3 deaths
