Like incase there's something wrong with your car, your car would tell you exactly what's wrong with it so that you don't get ripped off by a mechanic whose trying to squeeze every last penny out of you at the shop.
Every car is already equipped with an OBD2 port since 2004 (IIRC). It tells you exactly what's wrong with it, if you get an OBD reader, then look up the error code online
I would prefer to use the term "climate control" to be applicable to whatever vehicle I will use since it will imply: • ICE: heater *and* aircon • BEV: heat pumps
i actually like sport mode. in my car it only makes the steering stiffer and throttle is stronger. which makes me enjoy the road more and its easier to heel and toe since I don't have to press the throttle as much to blip. with sport mode off it drives really smoothly. i don't have any suspension changes or exhaust flap just those 2 things and it still completely transforms the car into "attack" mode :D that's one feature i like. owning a performance car is good but being able to daily drive it with ease is also great. another feature i like even tho i never experienced it before is that Opel sunroof. it looks more like manual convertible rooftop but with glass roof on top. you can just slide it and bam. sun! it looks cool. oh and i also like busses. i want to help people who don't like driving. less people on road means more space for me to wzooomm!!!
As a bus driver, we get paid decently (obv depending on your garage and area) and it's pretty fun imo to drive 600k-1.2mil dollar vehicles that you don't have to pay for the maintenance/fuel of lol It's true though, I really do believe that only people who want to drive should have to. And my job funds my interest in cars haha so win-win
One of my favorites is heated seats and a heated steering wheel because I live in a place where it gets cold in the winter. Another one would be the speed limiter. It's a thing in Volvo (probably some other cars also have it, but I just don't know about them). It's something like cruise control, but you just can't go above the speed you've set up unless you push the gas pedal hard. My favorite as I had a reckless driving fine and if I break the law again, they might send me to driving school. Great to obey the law and not have to watch your speedometer constantly if you're speeding or not.
@@franciscobatista4334 Oh? I wasn't aware of that. I only know that e36, e46, e90, e39, e60, e38 and e65 have regular cruise control. But those are older generations, they probably added it to the newer ones. And as far as I know, Volvo v60 has it which was released in 2010. Thanks for letting me know either way.
Heated seats are a good thing in the winter for sure. But my 1986 Nissan Cherry has them too, so it's not a new thing, depending on what you consider "modern". I have also found that while speed limiters in cars are fairly new, you can get a better and more accurate feel of the speed in older cars, generally speaking.
One i would add is good infotainment systems. Some are highly distractive but some are really nice like how it auto connects to phone so you dont have to connect every time or even worse using your phone instead.
Android Auto/modern infotainment has got to be one of the best features, having the map right next to me instead of having to reach down and get my phone? WAYY safer
That Nimitz to Kuznetsov comparison sent my sides into orbit cause it’s so true, also just like the Kuznetsov, I swear those black tail light cars are always in the shop more than on the street in my experience
Something I think should be in more cars is a HUD on the windshield with even maybe the gps system connected to it showing you the route directly on the road in front of you, or highlighting potential dangers.
Thanks omfg, i was looking for this comment! Imo, HUDs make driving so much safer, bc you do not have to look down at your gauge cluster for any info on speed or even navigation
I think along with clear taillights, another feature that I really like is "smoked" taillights and headlights from factory. By that I mean the ones that have the headlamp housing blacked out and only the lens is clear (mostly present in projector headlight setups) and taillights that are dark but have brighter LEDs to compensate for it like in the current 3 series and 5 series LCI for example. Not many economy cars have this but I wish they did tbh it makes them look really nice imo.
As someone who chooses not to afford newer cars (I drive a 2003 Subaru Baja), I fucking LOVE Bluetooth integrated audio systems, it's one of those things that only started to become standard like 10ish years ago. My first car was a 05 Taurus, and that car was designed before aux ports were even a thing in cars, and the way the center console was designed you could not simply replace it with a modern unit (you'd have to rip it all apart since the piece was unique to the model instead of having a standard block-type unit like a lot of cars) so I was pretty much stuck with CDs until I got a device that connected to BT and emitted a radio signal that you could then tune the radio to. It worked but highly impractical if you're on a road trip and the signal you set it to is now occupied by an actual station and you can't get anything from your device, plus there was a constant quiet static even at the best of times). Finally I got a newer car, a 2013 Focus ST which had a modern infotainment system and man it was good, had proper BT, would instantly connect when I turned the car on. Unfortunately wrecked my ST recently, so I managed to get a Baja and luckily it has a modern aftermarket stereo which is great because it has an aux port!...but phones (including mine) don't have aux ports anymore. So I had to get a bluetooth to aux unit. Notice how it all comes back to bluetooth? I suppose this isn't the newest feature around these days, but there are many cars still on the road that don't have it! It's great for folks like me who enjoy listening to their own music rather than the radio. It's one of those things that's taken for granted. Hell, how many of us here are into early 00s, 90s, 80s and earlier cars? They definitely didn't come standard with bluetooth! We should at least be thankful aftermarket audio systems are a thing.
My favorites: 1. Back lit usb ports and similiar 2. Wireless charging pad 3. Built in cooler 4. Back up camera 5. Apple car play 6. Paddle shifters 7. Premium audio 8. Great quality headlights 9. NVH control throughout the construcrion (super underrated)
8:21 Are you kidding? We all know the Admiral Kuznetsov is the biggest menace to the world's oceans that ever was. Every other ship keeps a good distance from it so it doesn't get caught up in its oil spills. Just like I always keep my distance from blacked-out taillights and people that I see turning without signalling.
I really like RX-8 doors. Like it's a coupe but with mini sewer slide doors for the rear seats to make getting in and out of those rear seats less of a gymnastics performance.
One thing i think will be on this list after some time is flat foot shift for manual cars, FFS not only is faster than no FFS on drag cars but with the big ass throttle lag modern cars have it shure will be a modern car feature we will love 😂
I really like start/stop systems because just sitting in your car at a red light while it idles feels like such a waste of fuel. It also allows you to stop for a minute or two when waiting without having to completely shut the engine off
Another good entry would be digital dashes. I loved the dash on the s2k when I was a kid playing nfs pro street and I still love them on some of the newer cars (when it’s done right)
Great video! In my car it called "speed control" or "cruise control". I basically used it once, just to test, and it's all, never activated it. I do not mind just to keep the constant speed using a pedal and brake when it needed.
Its has it uses. Mostly for saving fuel or when you have a heavy foot and suspect there is a camera nearby. I have compared a +1000km trip I did using it and another my dad did without it (same truck), and I saved like a 15% fuel just by going on a constant speed
Speaking of weird doors, remember the Saab Aero-X? The whole roof was the door, it lifted up and slid forward with the, uhhh, side panels to access the inside. I always thought that was kind of stupid because, you know, sometimes it rains... It sure looked cool though. PS I'm planning to adding rear view cams on my 90s Suv with feed to a double din stereo dvr. Also I used to have a 1987 Toyota MR2 and I never had trouble backing it up, even though the engine was behind me and it had a spoiler the beltline was lower than my sister's 04 300m for example.
Fun fact! One of, if not the first appearance of butterfly doors was also on an alfa romeo, interestingly it was alfa's own 33 stradale, which the alfistas here will note shares it's chassis with the carabo, the violently 80s wedge from the late 60s which is the first appearance of scissor doors!
LED/projector lights that give better vision AND are less blinding for oncoming traffic. Modern cruise control that accurately holds speeds through elevation changes.
your point with the backup cameras i agree with totally, now the car i drive that has them is my aunts 2018 hyundai Kona, i don't adjust her mirrors even though the only one i'd need to adjust is the rear view her side mirrors are just fine, i will back into my parking space at work using the mirrors to line me up then using the backup camera to guage my distance before i reach the end of my stall, i like this feature so much that i'm going to install it on my 2014 Chevrolet Impala Limited and since OnStar is no longer supported on my vehicle i may consider a system that replaces my rear view mirror
Man I miss some of the Vlog videos. I feel like you and a few other car TH-camrs are genuine. I love how you paint real vehicle ownership. Not buying it modifying it to high hell then selling it and repeating the cycle. You modify them and actually keep them and for that I appreciate.
Two features you can mention in a future video are Speed Limiters and paddle shifters(not the ones on cvt transmissions, thats just stupid). Speed limiters as they give you peace of mind that you can modulate your right foot without worrying about going over the speed limit and racking up tickets. Unless youre going downhill you can bury your right foot and your not going to go over the limit you set. Paddle shifters (especially in torque converters) help in modulating the revs when you either want to get raucus and hold a gear or quiet things down when you want for instance getting kids to sleep in the back. Being able to do that on demand is a great convenience.
I think paddles on a CVT, at least my Honda, actually work Pretty well. They shift quicker than some automatics with paddles, and completely change the driving experience. I don’t see why paddles on a CVT wouldn’t be beneficial.
@@colbyentzminger217 well if you like it, more power to you. To me its like beer with no alcohol or flavourless chewing gum, sure you can do it, but whats the point? The CVT mechanically has no gears and doesnt have to deal with that drama, its always where it needs to be for the best fuel economy and yes it can drone when you floor it and very little is going on with the speedometer, but so so 4 speed torque converters.
My new favorite feature. Anti Stalker Lights. Aka the light on the driver side mirror that lights up when you unlock or approach your driver side door at night
For the launch control, If you spin it’ll say a faster 0-60 since the wheel speed hit 60 mph faster. But transbrake ftw 🤟🏾 use a dragy for more accurate acceleration
There are exactly two to three things why I would even CONSIDER a 21st century car. Heated seats, and android auto/satellite radio. I know all 3 can be added as an aftermarket, but doing that kind of thing to a classic isn't always easy.
I absolutely love your content and as a fellow Royal Enfield rider thanks for representing us as we are...dorks who love it. Anyway I'd love to hear your take on the following. I have a seriously uncool car a white toyota avensis estate (UK) and I love that it takes me caving and doea all my family stuff but I can't justify a weekend car (in part because I'd be using my bike or using my avensis to go caving) so how can I make my heavy, big, slow but otherwise brilliant boring car more fun?
My favorite feature in modern cars is digital meters. I think they look slick and knowing exact numbers can be useful. Although I don't like that we had to sacrifice the oil pressure gauge for them...
One thing like about modern cars has gotta be the active exhaust valve. The ability to change how loud your exhaust is at the tap of a button is so damn cool.
My favorite feature in new cars is Auto hold breaking, if you come to a complete stop, the breaks will hold that breaking pressure untill you press the accelerator
I hate this feature with a goddamn passion lol. When I let go of the brake I want my car to start rolling. I hate when my car does things without my permission lmao
To me the hands down best "modern" feature on cars is the adaptive cruise control. Nothing else even comes close. Street is not free for fun driving? ACC. Some person is going 65 in an 80 zone? ACC. Traffic Jam? ACC. It is just amazing
ok but hear me out Imagine having the option to put any color taillight on a car. Like having a green taillight with the light having a color change so it still lights up red, but looks green when off. That'd be crazy
Hey Bladed, I'm not into modding car, but love watching your videos. I like making practical changes to my car. Maybe a video for practical mods would be cool.
Active AWD systems....especially ones that can turn off. People really underestimate how much AWD can enhance your performance in everyday driving conditions. People also overestimate amount of understeer they cause. Many systems even prevent understeer, even the FWD-based ones
My brother has a 2018 civic si and it has a blind spot camera on his mirror whenever he puts on his blinker and it’s easily something I want on my own car W Honda for manufacturing that
Our supercarriers are so god damn epic. Hucking sickass fighter jets off a deck with a catapult doing like 0-150mph in 2 seconds. Fighter pilots are so cool.
I am very two-sided on infotainment systems. I love the technology on the modern ones but the sizing is getting too big. Some are so big (full-sized Fords) that its even more distracting from the road than texting and driving. I like how it was just single-din and double-din and it was just so SIMPLE to put an aftermarket radio in and a day
I knew a guy who had a hawker hunter as a pet it looked ruff on the outside but was really soft on the inside makes a good pet but has a high upkeep cost
I kinda want to see Reverse Gull doors: doors that turn into a ramp to exit your car Yeah, it would make parking absolute hell, and there's probably no way to do this that makes for a safe emergency exit procedure from the vehicle, but it would be SUCH a massive flex for your car to roll out the red carpet for you
Launch control IS a crutch, lol. At least on sub-exotic cars. The next "feature" we'll see is computer-controlled rev-matching... oh wait, we have that already... also a crutch. About the closest thing I'll get to the launch control feature is a line lock. This is mainly to keep your rear brake pads and rotors from melting during repeated burnouts. As for "clear taillights". It's been an aftermarket option for decades. They're called "euro taillights". Their aestetic really depends on the application, and style. But yeah, its been a thing since the late 90s, early 2000s. My major pet peeve with this trend is sequential signals on every vehicle. I can deal with the mustang. It's had aftermarket sequentials since the 60s/70s. But I don't need to see sequential signals on a brand new Tundra, or an Audi Q7. A lot of sequences are just plain stupid. They look like they were designed by middleschoolers. When manufacturers all start to incorporate the same "special features", the features are no longer special. Its just like rims of today. Every manufacturer has racing wheels it seems. The Toyota Camry today looks far more agressive than the civics from the original fast and the furious movie. I swear, if manufacturers start all climbing on the flashing brake light trend, I don't know what I'm going to do at that point. When I see them installed on cars with a driver who taps the brakes every second... it makes my blood boil. As for backup cameras, I remember the days when using them on your driving test was an instant failure. These days, they're practically mandatory. I used to drive tractor trailers. We never had backup cameras. I never backed into anything. You assess your environment before backing up. If you back into all your parking spaces, or pull through them, backup cameras are really a moot point. I also used to be a valet. I drove all sorts of cars. Most of them never even had a backup camera because this was 2005. Never backed into anything. I only use my side mirrors to back into position. Looking backwards, or using a rear view mirror is for chumps. The only place a backup camera should be considered a "feature" is on the back of trucks with a ball hitch, used when connecting to a trailer. Otherwise, we're just catering to a gerneration who can't drive anyway. None of my cars have backup cameras. It's a satisfying experience. Just like GPS, I've found that the people who use it can't get around town without it. Likewise, with backup cameras, many people won't know how to back up without one. That's all, I'm out.
pro tip, set your ac to recirculation mode, it closes the vents that let in outside air so like the name says it can recirculate the air, but as a bonus it makes it so rodents cant get inside. That still wont protect your engine bay or wiring harness though so yk don't let your cars sit for too long.
I live in the Netherlands so the cars I come across are way different than in the US, but believe me when I say that if like an Audi A3/S3/RS3 is all black, red LED tailights are very good looking. Especially in the dark. Hell, almosr every modern german looks good with it if the car is all black.

The CVT mechanically has no gears and doesnt have to deal with that drama, its always where it needs to be for the best fuel economy and yes it can drone when you floor it and very little is going on with the speedometer, but so so 4 speed torque converters.
Cooled seats are my favorite
My new favorite feature.
Anti Stalker Lights.
Aka the light on the driver side mirror that lights up when you unlock or approach your driver side door at night
For the launch control, If you spin it’ll say a faster 0-60 since the wheel speed hit 60 mph faster. But transbrake ftw 🤟🏾 use a dragy for more accurate acceleration
1:39 Dude you got me 😂
Bladed angel is the car commentator ever
There are exactly two to three things why I would even CONSIDER a 21st century car. Heated seats, and android auto/satellite radio. I know all 3 can be added as an aftermarket, but doing that kind of thing to a classic isn't always easy.
isnt that two things???
nvm lol
Heads up display is kinda cool to me. It makes me feel like I'm in a racing game. Especially the Mercedes ones with the arrows that direct you.
i love electric car seats its just something satisfying about it
I absolutely love your content and as a fellow Royal Enfield rider thanks for representing us as we are...dorks who love it.
1:04 you should change "ACKCHYUALLY" into "LITCHERALLY" as well for being car community for 6 years 😆
My favorite feature in modern cars is digital meters. I think they look slick and knowing exact numbers can be useful. Although I don't like that we had to sacrifice the oil pressure gauge for them...
The Sewer-Slide door, as opposed to the Sayori door, which will scar you for life when gently opened.
Thanks! My pet F-18A Super Hornet parked on my Nimitz Class aircraft carrier will love this video!
One thing like about modern cars has gotta be the active exhaust valve. The ability to change how loud your exhaust is at the tap of a button is so damn cool.
I think red taillights look better, and in some (very few) cars, it looks good even when the car is painted red. For example, the Mazda Miata NA
Back up cameras are so nice when hooking up a trailer to your truck.
My favorite feature in new cars is Auto hold breaking, if you come to a complete stop, the breaks will hold that breaking pressure untill you press the accelerator
That feature is actually amazing!
Sounds like a good idea but another good idea is you changing your profile picture
*braking
Auto hold is clutch (lol) on a manual especially when you're going up a hill
I hate this feature with a goddamn passion lol. When I let go of the brake I want my car to start rolling. I hate when my car does things without my permission lmao
As someone who drives big work trucks (F350 dually), back up cameras are the 🐐 for parking lots
The launch control on a plaid is out of this world. And hits much harder than just hitting the gas.
As an owner of a 16 year old car with clear tail lights I agree on nr. 4 (Saab 9-3 SportCombi)
I’m a valet at a pretty big resort so I see and drive a lot of different vehicles, ac seats are absolutely amazing.
To me the hands down best "modern" feature on cars is the adaptive cruise control. Nothing else even comes close. Street is not free for fun driving? ACC. Some person is going 65 in an 80 zone? ACC. Traffic Jam? ACC. It is just amazing
What I wanna see is live feed sideview mirrors. No more blindspots or looking for a little led that may or may not work
0:42 i have that gemera pic as my computer wallpaper
ok but hear me out
Imagine having the option to put any color taillight on a car. Like having a green taillight with the light having a color change so it still lights up red, but looks green when off. That'd be crazy
Nah, green means go, i aint trying to get rear ended😂
I remember seeing a miata with RGB lights, that looked pretty cool.
360 view cameras especially if you like to go off-road or basic city streets also helps with curbs.
Heck yeah I'm early to a bladed angle video!!!
Same
I was hyped and typed angle, screw it I'm leaving it there.
i'm still suprised that you got 2,85 sec 0-60 without launch control. WITH A C7 RWD Corvette. That takes some crazy skill i believe.
Or just a bit of fantasy
personally, I like slightly smoked lights at the back of the car, not to the point you can't see the lights though that's stupid
Hey Bladed, I'm not into modding car, but love watching your videos. I like making practical changes to my car. Maybe a video for practical mods would be cool.
my fav car feature = Lincoln adaptive cruse and keep lane assist..
Here's the Nimitz class aircraft carrier commnet. Big boat go brrrrrrrr
Adaptive cruise control is peak
The warning realy got me
Smoked taillights look freaken sick on mustangs tho
Active AWD systems....especially ones that can turn off. People really underestimate how much AWD can enhance your performance in everyday driving conditions. People also overestimate amount of understeer they cause. Many systems even prevent understeer, even the FWD-based ones
Meanwhile me hitting a pole while reversing: "Hm... Hope I didn't run out of zipties..."
Would sliding doors on minivans be considered cool doors?
Yes. They are insanely useful and give you so much less anxiety in a parking space. Always park next to minivans because the cool doors won’t hit you.
@@Thinginator massive W for soccer moms
@arozin6773 everyone drives SUVs because they're completely oblivious to the fact that the most car anyone would need is a midsize sedan
My brother has a 2018 civic si and it has a blind spot camera on his mirror whenever he puts on his blinker and it’s easily something I want on my own car W Honda for manufacturing that
Why are backup camera so poor quality though, because they're a welcome addition to any car (especially on cars with terrible rear visibility).
I have a del sol and i can relate to the pain you have to go through when tryna See behind you, but Lucky for us we now have moden technology
Our supercarriers are so god damn epic. Hucking sickass fighter jets off a deck with a catapult doing like 0-150mph in 2 seconds. Fighter pilots are so cool.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the clear tails. I'll admit it doesn't look bad on the S550 but it kinda ends there.
I am very two-sided on infotainment systems. I love the technology on the modern ones but the sizing is getting too big. Some are so big (full-sized Fords) that its even more distracting from the road than texting and driving. I like how it was just single-din and double-din and it was just so SIMPLE to put an aftermarket radio in and a day
Man I was seeing some LFAs driving down LA man those Clear TailLights damn it I love them!!
Bro I started watching super cub and DUDE it's amazing thank you so so much for recommending it I'm so happy I started it
Just shared this video with my F/A-18 Super Hornet. He said hi
Line lock for cool burnouts
I knew a guy who had a hawker hunter as a pet it looked ruff on the outside but was really soft on the inside makes a good pet but has a high upkeep cost
I kinda want to see Reverse Gull doors: doors that turn into a ramp to exit your car
Yeah, it would make parking absolute hell, and there's probably no way to do this that makes for a safe emergency exit procedure from the vehicle, but it would be SUCH a massive flex for your car to roll out the red carpet for you
cooled seats are so cool
Would absolutely watch a bladed video on military aviation
the more supportive seats as standerd ie. audi and recaro is a nice feature that is becoming a more prevalent addition.
I don't know, I kind of miss the speings that were in the older classic vehicles. It helped even more to smooth out the ride.
I watched this video bc I love cars and always wanted to get better at knowing them
Sewer slide doors? Pfft
**The whole side of the car opening back as one piece**
That SLS is gorgeous
God view is one of my favorite features in both my stinger and gv80. launch control is also very fun, but hardly ever use it
I live in the Netherlands so the cars I come across are way different than in the US, but believe me when I say that if like an Audi A3/S3/RS3 is all black, red LED tailights are very good looking. Especially in the dark. Hell, almosr every modern german looks good with it if the car is all black.
