I haven't tried Big Lou's, but I have read good things about them. Grimaldi's and Mellow Mushroom are fine for chains, but living in the Stone Oak area of SA, I can recommend some local offerings. For New York style pizza Miss Ellie's on Bitters Road is hard to beat. Don't forget the garlic knots. For a more upscale experience, you have to try Dough on Blanco Road. You should also experience the house-pulled mozzarella. Sorry, but I'm not a huge fan of deep dish pizza, but I have enjoyed the offerings at Trilogy on Stone Oak Parkway.

I lived in Rhode Island as a kid, so I know what a good pizza should taste like. , i dont do brisket, or pineapple however., just give me good thick pepporonij, mushrooms, onions, black olives, green bells and load up the cheese with a zesty sause, crispy crust.. mmmmm! Ty for making me hungry LOL
Over here in the westside check out the cool wave for some awesome " hood rat snax" lol they have hot Cheeto boudin balls and fried pickles, mini tacos, raspas, chili cheese dogs, banana splits y mas! Lol there's a couple of other gems like La Calavera Garbancera, and the good ole Galleria
In Texas these are a few essential places you need to hit. “Best”- BBQ ( too many to name), Street Taco Trucks, Margaritas, Barbacoa, Fruit Cups and Raspas, Puffy Tacos, Micro Brewery, Farmers Market, Honey Farm, Steakhouse, Mexican Ceviche and Shrimp Cocktails, Flour Tortillas and Corn Tortillas.

As a San Antonian Who has experience Chicago PIZZA..the only pizza I agree with being one of the best in SA (from this video) is Big Lou’s. In my opinion: 1. Chicago’s Pizza, on Blanco Road for some real deep dish Chicago pie!! 2. Caparelli’s’s Pizza on Main Street. 3. Wrigleyville grill on 410 for some authentic thin Chicago style pizza similar to home run Inn!! Sooo good!

Mellow Mushroom is garbage....point blank...Grimaldis is a chain....big lous used to be so much better before guy fieri showed up....Lived here 20 years and right now...Whole Foods has better pizza then those 3.. .

Where r these guys from Boys Town. Grimaldis is trash, Palermos in south side Chi tow beats this. Giordanos is decent…but not the best.
