I like "Jack's" cheap little thin Pizza (I think Nestle's Produces) not much Crust, mostly about the Cheese and Sauce, and a Perfect Size for me too tackle by itself, and also the Cheapest in the Store, I just throw it in the Air-Fryer and the Whole Process (because I throw it in before the Oven is fully heated) takes less than 15 Minutes...
Hello!! I bought one Frozen Pepperoni Pizza at the Amazon Fresh Grocery Store in Northern Paramus, New Jersey and I liked it, surprisingly!! DiGiorno Rising Crust. 🙂😊
The Motorcity Pizza deep dish pepperoni from Costco is the best frozen pizza of all time. Cook it a little more than the box says to get the bottom nice and crispy. The crust is what makes this one great.
I put my oven on convection and also add extra Hormel pepperoni on top and shred some part skim mozza from Costco. Then broil it for a minute at the end to brown the cheese and crisp the pepperoni a bit more before the paper tray starts to burn from the boiling.
Brush the bottom of the included baking pan and the sides of the pizza generously with olive oil (or drizzle if you're nasty) before baking- the crust will get perfectly crisp while the inside will be chewy and nicely done. Sublime!
Screamin Sicilian is one of the best frozen pizza’s out there hands down. They actually worked very hard to make a really great product for what it is.
@@NightMagic224 DiGorno, I will never understand what people see in it. Maybe it's the marketing? But it literally tastes like cheap pizza with overly salty cheese and overly sugared sauce.
Screamin’ Sicilian is my “go to” for frozen pizza. The sauce is the most flavorful part of a pizza, and it has not only the most, but also the best sauce of any frozen pizza in my opinion. The two big drawbacks to frozen pizza have always been crust like cardboard, and no sauce. They’re also almost obscenely generous with the pepperoni. ❤
I tried the Motor City Pizza 🍕 deep dish pepperoni on your recommendation- & it was really good for a frozen pizza 🍕! My dad (who is 76, cranky, & usually hates everything) really liked it too. Thanks for the reviews- this was a good find. Now I just need to find these cheaper. It was like almost $8 for one pizza at Walmart.
I've been sampling a lot of different frozen pizzas over the past couple years, and Screamin Sicilian is by far my favorite for the price. Frozen pizzas need their uniqueness, and Screamin does it the best in terms of toppings, sauce and crust IMO. When you can get a fresh take out pizza from the main franchises for under 10 bucks, you better be making a damn good, and unique, frozen pizza if you want to compete with that price point.
I was buying those all the time. I live in Metro Detroit, 20 min from Detroit. I HARDLY see these things in stores where I'm at. Not sure if they just sell fast or if they no longer are in Kroger/Meijer stores. They are good as HELL.
I really love this "series" you guys are doing. It's fun to see how you rate them AND how different you can be (just like my household!). My next suggestion would be frozen macaroni and cheese.
Screamin’ Sicilian is my favorite frozen pizza of all time (but maybe I’m biased 🤣). I’m definitely going to have to try the Motorcity pizza. Loving this series from you guys!
I think what we've established is that James LOVES pizza, lol. I haven't had a frozen pizza in a long time, but now I'm sorely tempted to try a few of these!
The minute I saw #3, I said, "That has to be Motor City Pizza Co!" 🤣 I'm really enjoying this series of taste tests and ranking. Thank you for sharing!
James power! Also, I am quite the fan of how Jim is going off on what is likely to be a relentless love-fueled pro Costco goods rant and the video just abruptly ends. Narrator: "Rumor has it, he is still praising Costco to this day". Keep up the good work!
I ❤ Costco, rarely go to my local grocery (in an emergency for a random ingredient). Everything is cheaper and there's only 2 of us. I have a full freezer and usually only have to shop once a month.
For me, Home Run Inn Uncured Pepperoni is second to none. A little pricey but the sauce, cheese and texture are spot on. The only frozen pizza that doesnt taste frozen. It's my go-to and I've tried almost all of them.
One suggestion! It would be cool if the viewer knew what pizzas you were tasting while you guys blind taste test. It'll help us keep track of everything better and be more engaged, personally
My Aldi (!) Had Screamin' Sicilian Pepperoni or 4 Cheese pizza some months ago & I hit them when they were clearancing out the cheese ones. I loved adding toppings at home. Really good!
Watched several of your videos and you brought me back to my roots. Your food looks amazing. I would like to comment on the way you interact with your children. It’s a pleasure to see and you’re giving them many good memories. All the best
James being a pro by trying the crust alone on that last one. You three are so great together in reviewing these foods. I picked out the Motor City just from the looks, but couldn't guess the others. I'd love to get number scores from Tara, too!
One thing interesting about your excellent taste tests is possibly the adult taste palette vs. a youngster. Sweet, vs. salty... Umami vs. Bitter, sweet and sour and so forth. Your son has a very sophisticated palette for his age, but the difference in ranking results is also good, because all our tastes differ, as in wine selection and preference. Kudos!
When I was young there was this pizza shop that had the most different pizza than anything else out there to this day... Only sheet pizza..He shaved the pepperoni supper thin and piled it on pretty thin crust ,sauce and only grated parm. Some day I'm going to recreate it, I hope. Cleveland Ohio the place was called DeCarloes
There’s something called Steubenville style pizza where they have a crispy, thick, caramelized crust, with cooked sauce and they out raw cheese and pepperoni (or whatever), on top right out of the oven, so the toppings are partially cooked and partially raw. It was really different and good. Sauce on the sweeter side. This place was in Columbus by campus but based on a place in Steubenville OH, like the Cbus one had to change its name eventually
I must have really good taste or perhaps you folks have good taste because Motor City is my #1 favorite frozen pizza closely followed by my #2, Newman’s Own. Keep up the great work!
Glad to hear you guys aren't wasting the food. I did wonder about that when watching the taste testing. Hope you and your family are having a blessed weekend.
California Pizza Kitchen Margherita Pizza is one of the few I actually like. The second you start adding toppings you gotta worry about the frozen pizza quality. Weirdly enough bagel bites do pepperoni better than most legit frozen pizza lol
I am not a big pizza fan, but my husband is. We used to buy the Screamin Sicilian often but a friend of his turned him onto the Costco motor city pizza. And I must admit that it is my favorite if I eat pizza.
Please do a frozen lasagna taste testing! Our fav is Michael Angelo’s because it’s pretty simple ingredients. They also launched their own jarred sauce line!
My wife is from Detroit and I got hooked on that style pizza about 40 years ago. Motor City Pizza Co. does a fantastic job of getting it right for a frozen pizza. It's not as good as what you'd get from Buddy's or Jets, but it works when neither of those are available.
We recently discovered, as frozen pizza pros, that the Private Selection brand through Kroger's is our absolute fav. All the varieties we've tried are delicious.
These comparisons are fun! I've recently moved from the Boston area to western Virginia, and my pizza options are very limited. Gone are my favorite pies like shrimp scampi pizza etc...The local pizza is terrible, so I'm now looking for frozen options. I'm not a big pepperoni fan, and I love garlic, sausage, mushroom, peppers and onions. Your videos help.....keep them coming!
I think an interesting angle would've been to look at the ingredients of the pepperoni afterwards. For instance, I think alot of pepperoni in these frozen pizzas tend to be a pork/beef (sometimes chicken) mix. I tend to judge if a pizza is "premium" if it only lists pork as the meat of the pepperoni. Also I'm sure I've been making frozen pizza wrong all my life, but I never put it on the oven grates directly. I'll put it on a baking sheet since I don't want any cheese/sauce etc potentially coming off the pizza and melting onto the oven itself.
This might be an odd thing to make a comment about, but Tara has a really good announcer/narrator voice. Not only that the audio quality on her mic is very clear. Like the audio quality on the whole video is good, but you can hear that the guys are talking in a kitchen, but Tara sounds like she's in a studio. Her cadence and quality reminds me a lot of Stevie from Good Mythical Morning, who I really enjoy listening to.
The Motor City Double Pepperoni Pizza has been my favorite for more than a year, tho yesterday at Costco I discovered the Screaming Sicilian 4 meat Pepperoni Pizza. I am going to have to try that.
I have been buying the Motor City Double Pepperoni at Costco pretty regularly. Having had Detroit style pizza several times while working there, I'd say it's a pretty good representation. I'm not a purist who insists that there is only one good style of pizza, and can appreciate the huge variety of styles we can get from New York style, to Chicago deep dish, and everything in between. Every time I travel to a new city, I have to check out what kind of pizza the locals are into.
@@Whatsinanameanyway13 I actually just sampled the Motor City at costco today. My first initial bite i wasn't impressed with the crust but then as soon as i swallowed it i was like, oh that was pretty good. So I will probably pick up a pack on my next trip.
LOL, there's a few Super Markets in my area that have their own brand of Pizzas and pretty cheap too, I'll just add more toppings (mushrooms, onions, olives, peppers, spices and topped with thinly sliced tomatoes just before cutting...a Gourmet Pizza for a couple of bucks. $35.00 is a 16 inch 5 topping pizza in my area.
I heard that!!! Of course groceries have gone up but Krogers will offer three tombstones for $11. I'm all about that. I prefer the Screamin' Sicilian pizzas but they are awful pricey at $11. Krogers will run sales on them... Buy one get one free quite often. They are worth 550 a piece. But when they're not on sale I go for Tombstone.
I have the same sentiment as you, but with Red Baron. It's about $3.50-$4.00 now (December 2023), but I can add more pepperoni and cheese, and hit it with a bunch of red pepper flakes, and it's bomb-diggity. Yum!
@@The_Timinator Most definitely add extra toppings that you have in the fridge. I call it "doctoring them up". Same..35 bucks here in Ohio for an extra large 5 topping pizza. Then $4.50 delivery charge and I always tip 4-5 bucks. Too much money!!!! Cardboard pizza, I'm definitely all about that.✌️❤️
you guys missed out on Home Run Inn's pepperoni. it's a chicago based chain but they sell their frozen ones around in the grocery store. i find them here in florida at least. soooooooo delicious.
It's the only one I've found with a yeasty tasting crust, the pre-baked thing is a little weird and they aren't really cheap, but yeah it's a lot better than 90% of frozen pizzas you will find.
I buy only the Motor City Pizza here in Detroit area. Great toppings look cut by hand and wonderful crusts. The Supreme Motor City is excellent 👍 .. $7.50 at Wal-mart and $8.99 for one at the Gordon Food Service stores by me. I think Kroger stores carry Motor City brand around Michigan also.
I love the motor city pie! When it comes out of the oven I place it on a platter that has lots of olive oil, salt, pepper and oregano on it. Let it cool down on the platter and the mau down!
In the UK there's a brand called Crosta & Mollica and it is the best shop-bought pizza I've ever tasted. Their pepperoni one has Nduja on it too and it is tremendous. They also do a couple of white pizzas (no sugo) and I've never seen that before in a store-bought pizza. The base is sourdough and it's delicious. I strongly recommend to UK viewers. although it's 1.5 - 2 times the price of most others. I don't work for Crosta and Mollica btw :)
Freschetta pizza crust contains soybean oil, which can make food taste like plastic -- so that may have been what you tasted in that crust. I think a lot of frozen pizza crusts contain it, but like any ingredient, the sourcing really matters, as well as handling and even method of storage.
I'm in Wisconsin. For me, and what we have available to us, my favorites, in order: Connie's, Lottza Mottza, Home Run Inn, Screamin' Sicilian, Jack's. And for me, the sauce is the key component to any pizza. Connie's has the best I've ever tasted on a frozen pizza, not to mention the crust is incredible! It's got a little chew to it that I've never encountered outside an actual pizza place.
Great video. I buy frozen pizza on occasion and I always cook them on a pizza stone. The stone cooking makes a world of difference in taste and texture.
Wow, I thought they went way downhill lately. I’ve also noticed they are always on sale so I figured they weren’t moving product. They get back on course? Used to live them.
I LOVE Motor City pizza. Especially supreme. BUT I add another 8-12 ounces of mozerella. And sometimes some frozen Great Value frozen pepper mix. OMG it's great!!
I agree with you on Motor City Pizza Co. I found that scooping most of the spilled toppings from between the container and the pizza, putting it back on top and then pouring a drizzle of olive oil around the sides of the pizza before you cook it, gives it a much better crust. I only cook for minimum recommended time, then let sit for 5-10 min before cutting. Also my #2 is Kirkland pepperoni, and 3rd is Screamin' Sicilian. Good job on this video!
I'm surprised you didn't include Red Baron's Brick Oven. I tried that one & the Motor City. Motor City had too much tomato sauce & Red Baron doesn't have enough. I eat the Red Baron Brick Oven, & I add the amount of tomato sauce that I want plus basil, oregano, garlic, parsley, chili flakes, & parmesan cheese. There's nothing close to a freshly made pepperoni pizza, & no frozen pizza compares. IMHO
It is cool that you guys changed up the green screen chair room...you opened up the "window" and added in movement "outside." Just amazing production value lmao Still funny when people would think that was a green screen😂😂😂 Great work as always guys thanks for the vid!
You are by far my favorite cooking channel. I have made many of your recipes and they have always been a hit with my wife. I was surprised to see this kind of review and think it distracts from your cooking videos, almost like “jumping the shark”. I see these type of reviews on the lesser cooking channels which I avoid like the plague. Keep up the great cooking videos.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; James is a great taste tester. I just loved how he showed "the heft" on a couple of the slices. BTW, how old is James? It might give other parents an idea as to if their son/daughter might have similar preferences, even though taste in references vary greatly. It still might be helpful to others to know how old he is.
Lifelong Detroit-Style Pizza eater here in MI. The Motor City one at Costco is a pretty decent representation for a frozen pizza although obviously not like getting a fresh Buddy's Pizza out of the oven. Their cheesesticks, also at Costco, are pretty solid too.
The prices of these frozen pizzas amazes me. I remember in college I would walk to my local store when drinking a little too much and pickup a Tombstone pizza for $1.50 and be set for the night.
I know you said you didn't want a video a million years long, but I think it'd be interesting/helpful in the future to note at least what cheeses are on the pizza, because I think the types of cheese can really change the flavor of a pizza. But I'm loving all these taste tests! Keep em coming!
I make certain to pick up the Motor City brick out of the tray and get the cheese and toppings out from under it. It migrates underneath during shipping. I place that loose cheese and any other toppings from underneath on the top where it's supposed to be. I then take about a pound of low moisture part-skim large shred mozz and fill the gap around the edge to get the Detroit crust it's supposed to have. The remainder of that pound I spread across the middle. Then I toss regular Hormel peps all over. I run it at like 375 until it starts to get toasty, then crank it up to 425 until it's borderline burned on the edge.
Hello!! I bought one Frozen Pepperoni Pizza at the Amazon Fresh Grocery Store in Northern Paramus, New Jersey and I liked it, surprisingly!! DiGiorno Rising Crust. 🙂😊
The only frozen pizza I keep in the house is Stouffer's French Bread pizza. Individually wrapped, nuke it for a minute and a half, into a hot oven to finish. The crust has a very satisfying chew to it and gets nice and crispy on the outside. The sauce is a little on the sweet side, but not overpowering. A few different toppings are available, the pepperoni is really good.
That's one of my favorites, but I make it myself! $1 for a loaf of bread, homemade sauce and bulk toppings from Costco, it's so economical. And I could always make the bread to make it even cheaper...
@@jilbertb I don't eat it a lot, so just having a frozen one in the freezer is handy. If I want pizza for a meal, I do the same thing. Either some nice crusty bread, fresh pizza dough from the store, or I've been known to go to a pizzeria and buy a couple dough balls. Homemade sauce too... hand crushed San Marzano tomatoes, tomato paste, good EVOO, fresh basil, salt and pepper. I have regular pizza pans, and deeper Detroit style square pans depending on what I'm in the mood for. Yes, I spend a lot of time thinking about pizza. :D
One of the best frozen pizza’s I’ve had was Amnons Frozen New York Pizza sold at Costco. Individual NY slices that you can put directly on the oven rack. Amazing.
I have seen the Motor City pizzas at Costco, and thought they looked delicious based on the box cover. I will have to pick up a box on my next trip to see if they are as good as the two Jameses think they are. This was a fun family video!
You guys thought about doing a video on take n bakes? Like the pies you get at the Costco food court at about 9.99. Or Aldi has a take n bake at about 7.00 that I usually get. These are the pies you usually find refrigerated in the deli area of a grocery store.
Newmans own sauce is made and bottled by LiDestri Food and Drink in Fairport, NY (outside of Rochester). They use Newmans own formulation and exacting quality standards. Paul Newman even visited the plant many many years ago.

Try Connie's thin crust, if available in your area..... Should be National by now, that's my favorite.....
When I make pizza at home, I make Boston bar style pizza that uses a 60/40 split of Mozzarella and white cheddar.
Love James’ Christmas spirit in his choice of shorts. I started my shopping last week
lol. Nice early starter i see! 😊
Loving this series y'all ! When I can find it at $2.50 a box, I'm all in on Tombstone
Yum!
@@Les445 I'll have to keep an eye out for the sales on the Sicilian pizzas, those are my favorites! but yes definitely a little pricey
Cardboard pizza, I'm definitely all about that.✌️❤️
Love these taste test videos so much, I keep rewatching them!
you guys missed out on Home Run Inn's pepperoni. it's a chicago based chain but they sell their frozen ones around in the grocery store. i find them here in florida at least. soooooooo delicious.
Delicious pizza
Agree
It's the only one I've found with a yeasty tasting crust, the pre-baked thing is a little weird and they aren't really cheap, but yeah it's a lot better than 90% of frozen pizzas you will find.
Their sausage pizza is my favorite. I love their crust.
Being able to identify the quality of a pizza on sight alone is an essential New York City skill!
2:59 that "kinda like it" face has me cracking up 😂..love these reviews
Lol thanks.
Oven preheating for my Screamin' Sicilian pepperoni pizza dinner of a thousand sighs of joy. Thanks guys!
I love the motor city pie! When it comes out of the oven I place it on a platter that has lots of olive oil, salt, pepper and oregano on it. Let it cool down on the platter and the mau down!
Gotta love James’ reaction to hearing dad score Freshetta a 3.
Totally on target about the box art. I bet that is very important in setting the price point.
Just want to thank you guys. Been really enjoying your channel & glad to see all 3 of you having your input. Comparisons rule!
My wife and I really enjoy the Moter City pizzas. The 4 cheese is the best one they have.
Great video.
I buy frozen pizza on occasion and I always cook them on a pizza stone. The stone cooking makes a world of difference in taste and texture.
Screamin Sicilian is the ONLY frozen pizza my family and I will eat when I don't make homemade - hands down!!
Totally agree!!!! The best frozen pizza hands down!!!!
I was considering getting it yesterday, maybe I’ll be brave and give it a try! Thanks
I always thought that was marketed as the “better” frozen pizza but it’s just the same as any other lol
Agreed
Wow, I thought they went way downhill lately. I’ve also noticed they are always on sale so I figured they weren’t moving product. They get back on course? Used to live them.
*FAMILY TIME SPENT* is amazing and I so enjoyed seeing you all doing such. :)
Motor City is my favorite as well.
I LOVE Motor City pizza. Especially supreme. BUT I add another 8-12 ounces of mozerella. And sometimes some frozen Great Value frozen pepper mix. OMG it's great!!
Lately I've been enjoying the Lotzza Motzza frozen pizzas. Give them a try if you haven't.
IMHO
Red Baron Brick Oven used to be my favorite until I tried Wild Mikes. It's closer to a freshly made pizza than any other frozen brand I've tried.
Love red baron supreme
When I watch frozen pizza reviews I swear i never see anyone review a Red Baron pizza.
It is cool that you guys changed up the green screen chair room...you opened up the "window" and added in movement "outside." Just amazing production value lmao
Still funny when people would think that was a green screen😂😂😂
Great work as always guys thanks for the vid!
I’m surprised you guys didn’t put Red Baron’s on the list. That brand is delicious as well 🍕
I love that brand especially the brick oven one!
They do Red Baron in a previous frozen pizza taste test I think about a month or two ago, check that out
I bet they'll do another one...
@@Jani28
Gota try that one! I love their french bread pizza 😋
@@tylerstrow811
Ah okay, thanks 😊
I was *sure* Tara was gonna sneak in a homemade pepperoni slice ;) Love you guys! Great channel!
Hopefully Jim teaches him to cook! The girls will be all over him, ya know, later on, in his 20's. 😂
I think he’s around 11 or 12
Lifelong Detroit-Style Pizza eater here in MI.
I rarely even buy frozen pizza's anymore since I can literally get a Little Caesars hot and ready pizza for about the same price.
I know you said you didn't want a video a million years long, but I think it'd be interesting/helpful in the future to note at least what cheeses are on the pizza, because I think the types of cheese can really change the flavor of a pizza. But I'm loving all these taste tests! Keep em coming!
Im not a big fan of Newman's Own products in general; however, all 3 of you had it in your top 3. I guess they know how to do frozen pepperoni pizza.
Same. I rarely buy their products, but I'm going to give that pizza a try.
By far the best pizza review I've ever seen. Excellent work!
The pizza that I buy is imported from Italy, and you can taste the quality of the tomatoes.
I actually saw this video a few months ago and renewed my Costco membership to buy the Detroit City Pizza loved it
I subbed because you rarely see a well done blind test. Thanks!
Nice job! Really appreciate these comparisons and rankings!
Those are really good
One of the best frozen pizza’s I’ve had was Amnons Frozen New York Pizza sold at Costco.
I've been all over Costco's cauliflower crust Supreme Pizza, get your oven ready, then add more pepperoni, onion & cheese to it.... best frozen pizza modifier ever!!
