      Truth. I'm skinny with a size 30 waist, and i don't know how that happens here. We take literally every opportunity to go eat pizza followed by coffee at Blue Brick. Or Las Palapas at 3 in the morning. Or Greek food either at Deimos or Mina & Dimi's. Or wherever Tre Trattoria has moved. and the random Thai and Vietnamese restaurants. OMG I love those places.

    "Barbacoa can actually be several different meat types is more about the cooking process".
    As a Mexican, I tell you that you are correct. Many people do not understand that there are many different types of barbacoas!! The barbacao varies in each city of Mexico and with people's preferences.
    Great video!!

      Usually places like the riverwalk are for tourists but, I lived there for over 30 years and we went there all the time. When we visit, we still go and usually end up eating at Casa Rio. It's been there since the 1940's!

    • @mb5597
      @mb5597 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bud Green I don't know where you're going or what you do there but when we go, we go for walks, a meal and for the ambiance. The walks and the ambiance don't cost a thing, and the meals are comparable to anywhere else in San Antonio. We usually eat at Casa Rio because the food is great and has been for at least 75 years!

    San Antonian dropping in. Our food is the one major factor really keeping this town alive. We of course have good concert venues like Aztec Theatre and the AT&T center, and smaller places to see underground music like Paper Tiger, Bang Bang Bar, Limelight, etc. But munching on our cuisines while going to the historic sites is what really does it for the mainstream and I love the town that it's built from that. So many amazing small restaurants (our beloved 210 Pizza) on our street had to close down for good. I'm glad to see you were able to get so much enjoyment out of the ones still open, and hopefully when this is all over and people are hopefully given loans or something to start over that you guys come back and see what we're like when corona isn't happening. Buenos viajes

    What San Antonio isn’t on the culinary map? It’s the birth place of Tex mex cuisine and the ones that innovates on the cuisine. Y’all need to try some birria quesatacos, marzapan waffles, marzapan horchata.
    San Antonio also has a Culinary Institute of America which contributes in the Pearl. The Pearl is a good place to get an idea of the culinary scene of San Antonio. As for the riverwalk pro tip park at the Pearl and walk all the way to downtown. Downtown parking as you said it’s expensive and not worth it.

    I’m glad I stumbled upon your channel! Your videos are amazing. Also, I moved to SA when COVID just happened and I didn’t get to explore all the great food and culture. NOW! A year later I can slowly explore and it’s amazing! I have to try these places out for myself

      you live in that dump? full of uneducated ignorant people, guys who were in the military for 2 years and think they are rambo, welfare queens and soft wannabe gangsters. not to mention heaps of people have moved there the past 5 years raising rent prices and further deteriorating the city.

    I love San Antonio. We just spent a day and night there. We saw The Alamo, went to Mass and then the Riverwalk. Perfect day.

    I'm homesick for San Antonio and moved away almost 7 years ago to Missouri. It took me a while to find a Mexican restaurant in Missouri that reminds me of San Antonio food. I love the barbacoa at Tellez with pico de gallo and you missed out on delicious tamales but left me drooling over the barbacoa tacos. I haven't eaten a donut from The Donut Shop in a very long time. Thanks for giving me a glimpse of my hometown!

    Glad you kids got down to San Antonio this time. My favorite city of all the cities that I've ever been to - spent the best four years of my life there while in law school, no less. Haven't been there since about 2005 or 2006, I think. Especially since I had to quit playing golf because of my neck. Got to go back down there sometime, just for more breakfast tacos! Lol!
    That breakfast taco place you went to has received a singular honor in being voted "the best" in San Antonio. Because San Antonio has a bunch of very, very fine breakfast taco places. Some of the best ones are the little "hole in the wall" places that are around San Antonio, as well as the fine restaurants.
