Love to hear it! There's a few in here that I discovered that I've added to my wishlist. Frankenstein: The Monster Returns looks awesome. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
I tried Friday the 13th a few years ago, and I couldn't figure it out. Your explanation makes it clear that I was NOT gonna figure it out just by wandering around, lol We talked about Uninvited before, but I only played it a little recently with my kids on Steam. Those are the only two of these I've actually played. Monster Party looks awesome! I'll have to try this one! I haven't played Phantom Fighter, but I did see the movie. The movie wasn't great, but was interesting and unique. Ghoul School reminds me a bit of A Boy and His Blob, from a sprite-art perspective. I wonder if there was some developer overlap there. Great list! Very informative and cool!
Friday the 13th could be a very confusing experience if you don't know exactly what to do, so I can see you getting lost in it haha. It'd be fun to revisit knowing how to play it! I love that the NES had graphic adventure novels on it, what a cool concept. Monster Party does look very fun! I can't believe you've seen Phantom Fighter!!! That is so random, I wonder if the game is just as average. I can totally see the artistic styles between ABAHB and Ghoul School. Nice eye, Cynic you have such a great extensive knowledge of games. Thanks for watching, I wish I could play more horror games!
Nice list! Ive never played Frankenstein so now thats on the list for this halloween season. Shadowgate is one of my all time favs.. every version is great even GBC! The soundtrack is one I listen to on long road trips🚗
Frankenstein seems to be a toughy but maybe you’ll do better than me (lol, yeah right) I wasn’t aware Shadowgate was on the GBC let alone that you enjoyed it so much. Cool to hear you like it so much, maybe I’ll try it out someday.
Hmm most of this game is based on the horror films like Friday 13th, and many others, not horror like Alone in the Dark or Resident Evil, but they have a creepy atmosphere and story, but in 90's it was sure the beginning of the true horror genre
It was tough to really get scary with video games in the early days. I think they did an okay job with the story telling and music. It's fun to see where horror games started and where they are today. Thanks for watching, pal!
All of these actually look pretty fun except for the graphical adventures, those don't appeal to me. I like how in the Friday the 13th game you don't even need to move your feet to evade Jason you just sway from side to side 🤣 great video!
Horror games were a little rough around the edges back then. But if you make fun of the graphical adventures then you are making fun of games like Monkey Island which I know you love!
I still think the monsters in Dr. Chaos look incredible for NES standards. Monster Party is a lot of fun; I've often enjoyed it. A Nightmare on Elm Street is one that's...interesting to try and play 4-players. Samantha Pom-Pom; good thing she got into cheerleading versus FFA. ha ha ha
I thought of you so much when making this video and your *_love_* for the Friday the 13th NES game hehe. Monster Party is super cool and you're right, Dr. Chaos is very impressive by NES standards. What is FFA? Future Farmers of America?? Thanks for watching buddy!
Wow, never knew they made a NES game based off the movie Mr. Vampire. It's a comedy, kung-fu movie that probably doesn't translate well to 8 bit gameplay.
Nice list! My cousin and I used to rent both Friday the 13th and A nightmare on Elm Street on the regular as he was a fan of the movies. At least the games were not as scary lol! Great video and keep up the good work!
You were a big renter back in the day! Between Baseball Stars and these games, you must have been a VIP member at the video store! That's true, those games didn't scare much but I do like the nature behind them. Thanks for watching my guy.
Really interested to see this list! lol I wasn't into horror until I was about 11 or 12 so I missed out on horror NES games @1:56 okay I love the dancing goopy skeleton looking dudes lol I would definitely like 'Monster Party'! @6:22 lol you say it like maybe it happens too much 😂 @9:31 okay wait... I feel like I've played this one?!? Ghoul School looks pretty cool too! @12:55 LOL I can't get over her name 🤣 woah 129 room levels? I'd probably want to try Monster Party, Zombie Nation and Ghoul School. Really cool video TC! It's fun to look back on older games and see where it all started!
That skeleton dances better than I do! Haha, it's hard to keep that torch burning... If you've played Zombie Nation I'd be really impressed and you'd get some serious cred with me! You mean to tell me you didn't go to a school named Samantha PomPom? Lol Those are some excellent choices for horror titles. I love horror games but they sure do scare the crap out of me now, at least the current ones do. These ones are baby horror games haha. Thanks for watching pal! : )
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames I'm not sure if I played it much but I def think I did some. It looks way too familiar lol I must've had a friend who owned it or maybe my dad did.
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames Sadly no lol. I shelved it for a while and got sidetracked. I think I'm stuck in the snow caves. There must be one route I haven't taken that leads to something I need to progress. It's sitting right here starring at me.
No ghosts and goblins? I can comment on any of these because ive never played any of them. Zombie nation though looks interesting. Not quite the game i would imagine as the title doesnt say floating head shooter
Man, I completely forgot about that game! Zombie Nation looks like some ridiculous game I would make haha. Thanks for watching my guy, and SEE YOU SOON!!
Ghoul School, Frankenstein: The Monster Returns, Shadowgate and Uninvited are amongst my top favorite NES games in general.

@@TigerChainsawVideoGames Oh it is, I have had my copy since I was as a kid.
love me some horror on the NES. Great video
Thanks, Russ! Horror is such a fun genre and I'm glad the NES had a nice selection for gamers back then.

Lol it looks super weird! I need to check out the movie. Thanks for watching!
yes the famous Angry Game Video Nerd…. That AGVN boy … What a hoot
Oops! LOL. At least someone has commented on how poor I pronounce Japanese names yet...
A spine chilling collection indeed! 🤘🏻🩸
Some pretty good games!
Never heard of Dr. Chaos. Thanks for pointing it out. Looks kind of cool
You're welcome! I think it's a very solid mix of action and exploration. Some fun enemies and bosses too. Thanks for watching.

@TigerChainsawVideoGames we used to rent 2 NES games almost every weekend for years so yes the mom.and pop store knew us very well lol
Awesome video. Frankenstein Thr Monster Returns looks like it would be worth playing since I don't think I've ever heard of it
That one really stood out to me too, I wasn't expecting the gameplay to be like that but it looks good! Thanks for watching buddy, happy Friday!
It’s great, I’m glad I got it back when it was cheap before it became a $120 game.
Shadowgate had some amazing music, too, to help the atmosphere.
You're right! Back then music really added to the atmosphere. Great input, thanks for watching!
