The oil burner engine. I love it. Had this engine in my 08 scion tc. Most oil I've had to put in any car but kept it topped up and kept running and running until 230,000 miles when I traded for 4k
currently have a 2010 Toyota rav 4 v6, the only problem is when going at high speed and pressing on the brakes the steering starts to shake and the car too but I will get it fixed but it’s a great car. 167k miles and going strong
Hi. The high oil consumption of the 2.4L motor is it due to some other components of the engine had failed, or just high consumption of oil when the engine becomes aged? Looking to get one of these retro style SUV in 2.4L version, and that's only what we have in my country..
@MLOO123 it's from a factory defect from the piston rings. They said to have fixed it in '09 but the 2.5's especially with oil change intervals over 5k miles burn oil worse than the 2.4's, keep it in mind.
@@ReviewersRealm11 Just accelerate smoother and don't mash the gas pedal too much. Go into the throttle smoother and try to get the transmission to shift at lower rpms. Coast downhills without applying much throttle.
As a 16 year old kid with a 10k budget for a car, im thinking either a 2011 rav4 or a 2010 tacoma pick up truck. the rav4 is about 8k while the tacoma is 10k. Do you think it would be smarter to get the rav4, or get the tacoma for a few reasons. 1 I am starting a power washing side hustle so it would be a lot easier to hual things around. 2 The tacoma would be a lot more fun lol. and 3 I think I would feel more safe driving the tacoma. If you were in my feet which would you go for?
Honestly for a first car, I'd look at a 03-07 Volvo XC70 2.5T. They have tons of space, a wonderful 5-cylinder, excellent safety, and easy to drive. Find one that has been kept up well, and get that. You can find them for 5-7k in excellent shape. As far as the other two options you mentioned, I'd take the RAV4 if it's a V6. Trucks aren't the best first cars, in my opinion.
@@DMCarReviews Okay! Oh and I forgot to mention but I learned how to drive with trucks and expeditions. I actually never drove a smaller car than that haha. But that makes a lot of sense! Thanks!
This RAV4 would be perfect with the 3.5 V6 engine. Just a shame they used this 2.4 back then it’s not as refined or reliable as their newer 2.5 that they upgraded in 2010.
I'm planning to get one of these 2009 2.4L SUV to replace my old Subaru Legacy. What I loved is the old skool truck/jeep look with the spare tire at rear which is totally cool. May I know what to look out for?

Wow, very nice!
Yep, i got this exact car, 2008 rav4, it burns so much oil

Get it checked out!
2 things imo:
1. Brake rotor warp.
2. Lower control arm bushing busted.
These older, Toyota RAV4's with the 2.4 L four-cylinder engine are known to have problems with excessive oil consumption.

5:20 I love the horn
I love the interior more than Toyota RAV4 2007 version. Are 2008 RAV4 parts compatible with 2007 version? I would like to change some interior parts.
I'm not sure!

Please drive a 2018-2020 mazda 6 grand touring or signature, i'll probably buy it this year
I'm looking to buy a 2008.
What's the gas mileage on these babys?
Expect low 20s
Great video. How much is it cost?
Thank you for watching! Not sure, but I'm guessing 6-7k?
How many gears does this Toyota have?
4
i have the same car up until now, loved the power but the fuel consumption is not that good.
You have the V6?
@@DMCarReviews no, i have the 2.4L
@@DMCarReviews can you give me some tips for fuel efficiency

Stafford, VA
Dude what are you doing driving on the wrong side of the road around blind corners lol
It's called a trajectory to take side turns. Also you may not see it on camera, but I can see everything around.
