The RAV4 with the V6 was one of the fastest SUVs in its class back in the day and it was potent ~~ can’t go wrong with the 3.5L 2GR-FE V6. I will miss the V6 in the RAV4 but you know what the current one with the 2.5L Dynamic Force inline 4 still is great and more fuel efficient so it makes more sense.
My mom had a 2012 RAV4 for 10 years. We bought it in 2013 with 6,000 miles on the vehicle. It was used as a loaner car by our local Toyota dealership until we bought the car. Her’s wasn’t a Limited V6 but rather a Base with the 4 cylinder and 4WD. Overall it was not a bad car. The only problem it had before we finally sold was with the rear differential. Apparently the coupling was bad. Unfortunately, we went to a few mechanics and spent a lot of money before the problem was actually fixed. As for the engine and transmission, no problems there a part from being slow. I always thought it her car had 5 speed auto only to found it was a 4 speed. The 4 speed and the 2.5L 4 cylinder were not the best pairing. Some people have even said that the 3.5L V6 was too much power. I feel like if the car was given the 2.7L 4 cylinder or even a 3.0L V6 with either a 5 speed or 6 speed would have been the best. Not too little or too much power. Despite these little issues it is still a great car to own and definitely will serve its owners well.
It’s a hidden gem, if you can find a 3rd gen Subaru forester xt it would be a good comparison as it uses a 2.5 turbo and it’s got Subarus great awd system and it has around the same acceleration, but all the reviews say it handles way better than this generation rav4. Plus this rav4 generation and the 3rd gen forester were the last generations of their respective models before they both got cvts in place of the traditional automatics which most enthusiasts hate.
I have a 2012 rav4 v6 with 95k miles. Very sleeper of a suv! I am coming from a Mercedes GLC43 AMG! I junked the Mercedes when it developed transmission problems! I picked up the rav4 and it is surprisingly quick off the line and highway speed. I have raced Infiniti G37, Q50, Mercedes c450, Range Rover sport, Toyota tundra (twin turbo model) Toyota sequoia twin turbo version, y Lexus is350 newer one, Lexus es350, Toyota Camry, Subaru sti, Honda accord V6, accord 2.0T, ford explorer ST, Toyota Prius prime, ford F150 raptor, bmw 535 series, BMW 330 series and many more and beaten them all!! The only car that beat me was a Hyundai ionic 5? (I can’t remember the model) took me by a car length from a dig. I have beaten Audi also and the question is is the 269 hp the actual HP or was mine tuned? The exhaust is stock and it is seriously fast. I raced a Porsche I can’t remember the model and I took him by two cars length. I will keep it forever. I have had all service done except for the spark plugs. Now at 113k miles. I love to drive it. Never going back to Mercedes piece of trash again! Mine comes with all options including navigation, Bluetooth, sunroof and leather seats. Limited version!
i have a 2010 Toyota rav 4 v6, i want to know from anyone who has this car if for you if the ac is cold enough in the car because when the weather is hot, the ac doesn’t really blow cold air
yes, your AC needs serviced. My 2010 with 153K blows very cold. Just remember the AC is a sealed system so if you are low on freon or whatever they call it these days you have leak. Refilling is a band aid on a gaping or seeping wound.
If you do it right these go to 60 in the low 6 sec range, if you google all the old reviews from back then when they were brand new they we’re getting in the 6.3 second range. Take in mind awd affects these numbers too.
@@calvin43196.3 is absolutely unrealistic, especially with a 5-speed automatic. Maybe off a cliff it will do that. Also remember magazines use a 0.3s 1ft rollout which I don't. There is a reason why real world testing is much more important than what the press states.
With a 6-speed auto it would break into the 6's range in those conditions. This is a 5-speed automatic. I'm sure on a cold day with a better DA it would do a 6.7-6.8s run.
@@DMCarReviews I was able to do 6.5 sec with mine, it was a cooler day tho and brake torqued it. I could see how they could have gotten 6.3 when it was new, it does have almost 300 HP so I'd at least hope somewhere in the 6 second range, the gearing in them were not too bad either especially for a 5 speed automatic transmission. It's all about torque and the gear ratio, and the 3.5 V6 engine was put in many many vehicles especially Lexus and they also had pretty good 0 to 60 times too, I know when they updated the Lexus GS to 3.5 in 2007 it had the same motor but with a 6 speed automatic, they were able to get 5.7 Sec out of that and it wasn't a small car either. These cars are definitely hidden gems and they are very good with hidden surprises ^ ^
Just curious, how close is the camera view compared to what you see personally? I ask because I want to know how accurate the drivers POV is, since some reviewers have the camera positioned unrealistically high, and all you can really see is the headliner lol
At sea level and cooler temperatures it’s very possible to get 6.3-6.5 sec 0-60 like the old magazine tests got but most real world testing is gonna be a bit slower. Obviously a lot of things come into play in an acceleration test. Heck I’ve seen some people get mid 6’s for the 0-60 on TH-cam. I’ve also seen a test that got 8.8 sec 0-60 which is obviously slow for this car however that test was at 6,000 ft elevation on a 90 degree day with one 200+ lb passenger in the car with the driver.
@ Yeah, I bet if you kept at it and maybe did 5-10 acceleration runs you would very likely hit high 6’s but 7 seconds isn’t bad and about expected for a real world test. Also those wheels aren’t factory OEM wheels. Do you know what size those wheels are?
They post the same 0-60 times on the street, assuming you are comparing the same year. The RAV4 actually did better than the 2018 Camry XSE V6 I tested.
Is ok lol some of they models had burning oil issues as well as terrible camrys I wouldn't say the best lol . I only trust landcruiser best one strongest
These slightly older, third-generation Toyota RAV4's with the V6 engine are currently a blast to drive.

The toyota rav4 v6 is the best SUV in the world

I'll film one if I come across one! I think the Toyota should perform better in the top end, due to more power and much better gearing.
Ehhh maybe
The current non hybrid rav4 has an 8 speed auto. Dont think the rav4s have ever been cvt. Enthusiasts aren't buying foresters and rav4s
